i just got a phone call from my wife.
she said that the phone rang a few minutes ago (about 11am local time), and when she looked at the caller-id, it said 'jehovah's witnesses'... or somesuch.
so - she answered the phone.
When I was a witness.the only phone calls we could make were to people we had already called on in person. Like a return visit. No cold calls were allowed!
Things sure did change when they started getting desperate for followers didn't they.

it appears that both political parties and economists are agreeing on the need for a tax rebate.
the white house has a proposal in mind, and the democrats seem to be in line.. so will this help head off a recession?
and will you "do your part" .
I don't have to file anymore. (age)..nothing I make is taxable...I don't get a tax rebate....but then again..I don't have to pay taxes..

Where I used to live they had built a new Veteran's home and hospital. The witing list was off the charts. They ended up overcrowded and it took months if not a year to see a Dr. They were always running articles about it in the local paper but oddly enough..the larger papers never did run any ..
It always seems when the government does bother to do something about a problem..they are fixing it for the time. They don't realize it takes a while to complete the project and by that time the problem has gotten a lot bigger! Like enlarging a highway or bridge..that takes years to complete but they have built the scale on the traffic at the time...they don't realize there will be a lot more traffic by the time it is completed and should have built it bigger to start with. They are always a day late and a dollar short as they say.
As with that veteran's home..they could have calculated they would need something bigger by the time it would be finished...seemed like when they were working on the project, money kept disappearing and they had to "Borrow" from someone to finish it.it also took a lot longer to finish then they said ... a LOT longer!
Snoozy...who doesn't have to many good things to say about government projects...
edited to add...Hubby used to pour concrete for a company that had government contracts to pour bridge piers..highways..etc. You would be surprised how the companies they hired tried to skimp and make a few extra bucks...hubby refused to "water down " the concrete when they tried to make it go furthur...that's probably why so many bridges are falling now..someone went ahead and watered the concrete down that they built the bridges with!! Betcha!
what i did was totally out of character for me.
i had a sharp pare of scissors in my hand and i was just so angry.
before i knew what happened i had thrust them forward... over and over... once i finally stopped i just couldn't believe the mess everywhere.

But alas...I am too old to learn new "tricks" in prison....
When I was much younger...I really did wonder how they knew if you cut them off. But I was still afraid to cut them off...

OK..I just wanted to add that we had a closed Wendy's here. I think all of them in St louis had closed.But recently I noticed they are opening them back up. Well they finally opened the one up by my house..I rushed to get one as soon as I found out.Just a Wendy's single with Mayo, lettuce and onion please...I couldn't wait to taste that lovely long forgotten taste. To my surprise it was terrible..no flavor at all. They have to be using the lowest grade of meat they can.
So needless to say..I won't be going to Wendy's anymore...
I do try to get to Hardees at least once a week for a yummy Biscuit and Gravy and a medium black coffee......yummy.
McDonalds has a good gravy(lots of sausage bits) with a good taste but just a little too spicy for me.

White Castle was the first job I ever had...I worked there for a whole total of 3 months.
I got pregnant with our third child and morning sickness and White castles just did not mix...
They kept making me work in the back (drive up)because I kept turning green...
But I could really turn those things out..we still had car hops in those days..
I used to have 5 White castles, a fish sandwich, fries and a chocolate shake every day for lunch..(It was all the food you could eat for free for employees then..even take home!)
And I was a skinny little thing then...I guess I worked it all off at rush hour.
Snoozy...ps they were only 12 cents apiece in those days.
i had the sneaky suspicion the girl in the picture below was a dub.
she had never drank, smoked or watched a rated r movie.
she was married at a young age and just seemed too wholesome.

i believe a lot of the teachings and i see what is going on .
i just feel a lot of confusion right now.
You are only thing of yourself...the main reason someone should go back is because of their love for Jehovah and what you can do to serve him!
I bet most of the people that are in the KH are only there thinking they are going to save their butts! But in reality according to the teachings..you should only be there to serve Jehovah..the rest (paradise..everlasting life ) are just added benefits and should not be the prime reason someone becomes a witness.
I bet if they took away the promise of everlasting life...no one would be a JW...
