No that was before Spock, he was for more spontaneity in dealing with children, he was blamed for a more permissive society in the 60s free love and drugs.

Why are they still so obsessed with Dr Spock?
by purrpurr incomment in today's wt, was about dr spock, and his book "that every parent in the world read" apparently (!).
if it wasn't for the wt's obsessions with the guy i would have no idea who he was, neither i suspect would the vast majority of the congregation.
there has been a mass of parenting books written since and yet they keep harking back to this one.. do they have no idea how out of touch this makes them seem?.

Benjamin Spock was famous and changed the way we care for children. Yeah his anti-spanking policy put at odds with WTB&TS.

If You Criticize A Person of Color Are You A Racist?
by minimus inseriously, it’s getting to a point that you can’t make a negative comment about someone without being charged as a racist, homophobe or sexist!
if you criticize a female, you are obviously sexist.
if you criticize someone who happens to be gay, you must hate homosexuals.

This subject reminds me of Jeff Foxworthy: "You might be a redneck if you":

Are You Happy With The Country You Live In?
by minimus ini live in the usa.
is it perfect!
nope.
-

Being happy with the country you live can also be an indicator of being self sufficient, how about a crippled person should his happiness depend government assistance, or if one is approaching retirement and has property and a good retirement fund they paid into in those lack of income working years.
Also being honest with one's self is not very easy.
I would think also that Maslow's hierarchy of need being met and how far up it you can climb, have a lot to do with being happy with one's country of residence.

Min, that is a very hard question for me to answer. If you asked: Are happy in the country you are living in? I could easily answer yes with hardly any reservations. I've gotten used to most conditions where I live. As far as the political environment of the US where I live it is acceptable and I have no complaints, I wish all my neighbors happiness for their future what ever it may be. So maybe that's a Yes to your question?

Is the Governing Body under estimating the volume of those waking up?
by I believe in overlapping inwith all the scandals of the organization, it would .
be sound and logical from a human or strategic viewpoint,.
that they loosen the reins of control and be more honest with its members.

The course that the WT corporation has taken from its very beginning is one plotted by "Wishful Thinking" sadly the pattern is always the same with different phases they must go thru. I think we can say with some degree of certainty as reality keeps pressing in on the Governing Body they will reach the nightmare stage soon if not there already.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wishful_thinking
"the fantasy cycle" ... a pattern that recurs in personal lives, in politics, in history – and in storytelling. When we embark on a course of action which is unconsciously driven by wishful thinking, all may seem to go well for a time, in what may be called the "dream stage". But because this make-believe can never be reconciled with reality, it leads to a "frustration stage" as things start to go wrong, prompting a more determined effort to keep the fantasy in being. As reality presses in, it leads to a "nightmare stage" as everything goes wrong, culminating in an "explosion into reality", when the fantasy finally falls apart.[4]

The WT corp. should have gotten out the date setting business back at the end of the 1st world war, but they just can't come to terms with reality, 1975 should have been another good exit point also but no, even the year 2000 they should have grasped the point in time,, that it was time to start liquidating their assets and prepare for some other way to make a profits(stop setting times for armygeddon) . These guys are stuck on stupid, their brains are too fried to give them any other options.
These guys on the GB are all delusional and in denial, and engage quite heavily in wishful thinking. They are riding this sucker full speed ahead into oblivion.
The GB remind me a lot of Hitler, because they both believe their own manipulative bullshit and both are headed for destruction full speed ahead not willing to listen to anything from advisors or Generals that did not fit their great plan for the people(unwilling to give up delusions).

If we could travel at light speed, would travel be 'instantaneous' for us??
by Bad_Wolf inthis might be confusing to think about.
we know that as you approach the speed of light, time slows down, if you were in a spaceship, time goes by quicker on earth.
we also know that distances between planets and such are measured at 'light years'.
-
Humphry
Yes 10 years on earth but to the person traveling at the seep of light not even a day.
How about the event horizon of a black hole?

The 1/08/2005 should be printed on the tomb stone memorial of the WTB&TS :
“caused partly by declining attendance and increased financial problems that were worsened by the sexual abuse crisis among non-clergy members.”

One can easily see why Jehovah would be disgusted if AM#3 wore tight pants. Maybe that was the message Jehovah tried to send Tony but he thought Jehovah found nice looking Latino men in tight pants makes Jehovah all disgusted. Anyway Holly Spirit seems to be giving the Governing Body confusing messages these days judging from the financial look of things with WT Corporation's printing business.
Can't wait for AM#3 to give us more input about how Jehovah is feeling with regards to certain subjects that piss him off or disgusts the almighty Him.
