I think it's beautiful. Maybe not a piece of art I'd hang over my mantle, but something I think is beautiful to my eyes. And thought about COMF when I saw it. He sees what beauty as I see it.

my wife and i, along with her sister and friend went on a picnic today to the mountains of va. about an hour and half drive.
on the way someone asked what day of the month is it?
i looked at my watch and said the 10th.

Did she say happy anniversary to you or give you an anniversary gift? I don't think it's a big deal to forget anniversaries or birthdays. I think it's normal. If you feel that bad ( and you sound like you do) then just show her your post so that she sees how much you love her. I personally think that if a mate makes a big stink about forgetting something such as an anniversary, then it kind of takes away from what being married for the amount of years you two have been married. It downplays what you feel for each other and reduces it to just one day a year that seemms so imprortant to each other. What about all the days of the years that you DID tell her you loved her or that you did something special and nice for each other? Those don't count because you didn't do or say them on one certain day?
I will say congratulations though, and I'm sorry that you're so down on yourself about this one day.
congratulations on your anniversary and for being such a great guy! I hope your wife sees how sesative and caring you are about these things!

Thank you for posting the link for us to listen to the show. zev and I listened to it. It was very informative to the public in regards to letting listeners know about what the disfellowshipping means to JWs and how it breaks up families and truly hurts people. I'm glad it was mentioned that often those who become JWs will often cut-off their family members who are not JWs too. Even if they talk about Jesus too much for their JW family members. It served as a warning to any listeners who are just beginning to "study" with JWs (or have family members who are) on what likely could happen to their families.
Our hearts go out to the father who does not even know where his very sick daughter is. Our prayers are with him, his family, and all who suffer because of ever being involved with the JW group.

I can't give you any advice that hasn't been given you here already. You have people in your life who truly care about you, and it shows here. I'm SURE there are many many more who do too. Your co-workers, you said, already have noticed a change in you. If I were you, I'd keep talking about the way you feel to those who ask you about how you're feeling at work. It helps so much. the more you talk to people, the less bottled-up things get in your heart and soul. The heavy burden you are carrying right now will get lighter and lighter. Your pain is real pain,and it's valid,considering what you've lived serving for years.
As others have said here, there is light at the end of the tunnel. The hard part is moving towards it.

i want to consider this point, free from the trinity / arian debate.
there have been an abundance of threads that have deteriorated into these doctrine, and it clouds this issue because tempers get raised.. so, please, can we keep it simple.
should jesus receive our worship, right here, right now?.

In Matthew 15:1,2 the Pharissees and scribes came to Jesus and asked, Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They dont wash their hands before they eat! (NIV)
In verses 7-9, Jesus told the the Pharisees and scribes that their WORSHIP of him was in vain. Not because they shouldnt be worshipping him, but because they were honoring him with their lips and not their hearts (because their teachings were just rules of MEN, or traditions, that they expected people to follow as a rule.)
My opinion is that Jesus didnt say that is was a sin to worship him, or wrong, or even that we shouldnt worship him. He just said that to honor him with our lips but not our hearts would make our worship of him in vain. In other words, our worship of him would mean nothing if we made teachings of MEN into DOCTRINE/LAW/PUNISHABLE OFFENCES.
Notice the Watchtower Bible and Tract s ociety CHANGED the word worship, to the words do obeisance in Hebrews 1:6, from their 1961 edition of the NWT.

Could that be because they knew better than to change words in Matthew because those were words that were spoken by Jesus, but not the words spoken by Jesus in Hebrews?

this morning's paper had an article on the amish [nothing in depth, just about how they sell their wares at local markets] but it brought to mind the ideas of the amish - they want no part of the world, they don't like to call attention to themselves, don't baptize little children, and they shun those who leave the faith.
i was just wondering if anyone here could shed some light on how jws view the amish.
are they impressed?
I've heard from poeple who grew up amish. I personally think old world menonites way of living is the way I'd love to live. But somehow over the years, rules and punsihment for those disobeying those man-made rules took over even the amish way. When judgment and condemnation start between fellow humans when one or more view themselves as having God given Autority over those equal to themselves,, problems arise. When AMISH or Menonites became a religion, IT became a snare for fellow humans and those humans who joined or followed along with the human "leaders".

The new Kingdom Ministry refers JWs to see 9/15/81 Watchtower regarding how to treat disfellowshipped people, and disfellowshipped relatives.

22 Normally, relatives are often together at meals, picnics, family reunions or other social gatherings. But when someone has unrepentantly pursued sin and has had to be disfellowshiped, he may cause difficulties for his Christian relatives in regard to such gatherings. While they realize that they are still related to him, they do not want to ignore Pauls advice that faithful Christians should quit mixing in company with an expelled sinner.
23 There is no point in looking for some rule as to family members being at gatherings where a disfellowshiped relative might be present. This would be something for those concerned to resolve, in keeping with Pauls counsel. (1 Cor. 5:11) And yet it should be appreciated that if a disfellowshiped person is going to be at a gathering to which nonrelative Witnesses are invited, that may well affect what others do. For example, a Christian couple might be getting married at a Kingdom Hall. If a disfellowshiped relative comes to the Kingdom Hall for the wedding, obviously he could not be in the bridal party there or give away the bride. What, though, if there is a wedding feast or reception? This can be a happy social occasion, as it was in Cana when Jesus attended. (John 2:1, 2) But will the disfellowshiped relative be allowed to come or even be invited? If he was going to attend, many Christians, relatives or not, might conclude that they should not be there, to eat and associate with him, in view of Pauls directions at 1 Corinthians 5:11
