the wts and dubs like to brag that, unlike all other religions, they are the only people preaching the truth about "this good news of the kingdom" on earth.
they claim that their most important purpose in life and as dubs is to preach that good news.. .
they use their favorite verses in matthew 24:14 and revelation 21:3,4 to describe what that "good news of the kingdom" means.
Farkel :
What does the Bible have to say about that?
"However, even if we or an angel out of heaven were to declare to you as good news something beyond what we declard to you as good news, let him be accursed. As we have said above, I also now say again, Whoever it is that is declaring to you as good news something beyond what you accepted, let him be accursed. " - Galations 1:8,9The writer of Galations (presumably Paul) considered this matter so important that he stated it TWICE. Yet the WTS brags that they are doing that very thing in the face of its clear condemnation in scripture.
They cannot even get their "most important message" right without clearly scoffing at what is written in the Bible.
I agree. And the WTS claim that it was JESUS who said that a good news that goes beyond what his followers preached in the first century was to be preach in "our day". Benefit From Theocractic ministry School Education (2002) p. 279 The Message We Must Proclaim
?THIS GOOD NEWS OF THE KINGDOM? WHEN providing details regarding the sign of his presence and the conclusion of the system of things, Jesus foretold: ?This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.??Matt. 24:14. Exactly what is this message that is to be given such wide publicity? It is about the Kingdom for which Jesus taught us to pray to God, saying: ?Let your kingdom come.? (Matt. 6:10) Revelation 11:15 describes it as ?the kingdom of our Lord [Jehovah] and of his Christ? because the ruling authority originates with Jehovah and is conferred upon Christ as King. Note, however, that the message that Jesus said would be proclaimed in our day goes beyond what his followers preached in the first century. They told people: ?The kingdom of God has come near to you.? (Luke 10:9) Jesus, the one anointed to be King, was then in their midst. But as recorded at Matthew 24:14, Jesus foretold the worldwide announcement of another development in the fulfillment of God?s purpose. ------------------------------------ As you said, they love to use Matthew 24:14. WHERE does it say in Matthew 24:14 that there is to be a good news that goes BEYOND what his followers preached? Where does it say that there would be a different message to be preached "in our day" ? Where does JESUS say such a thing that in Matthew 24:14? I don't see it. Does anyone? It makes me wonder if JWs read that scripture and say, " See? I told you Jesus said that in our day, we are to preach as good news something that goes beyond what his followers preached in the first century"! The scriptures you provided are worth repeating..(Galatians 1:8-9) . . .. 8
However, even if we or an angel out of heaven were to declare to YOU as good news something beyond what we declared to YOU as good news, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said above, I also now say again, Whoever it is that is declaring to YOU as good news something beyond what YOU accepted, let him be accursed. peace, somebody/gweni found this on the official jw site:

jehovah's witnesses avoid making rules and regulations beyond those provided in the scriptures, and they do not follow traditions that contradict bible teachings.
The 2 door cars and the pepperoni things are pretty scary. Someone mentioned the name tags at assemblies too. (I think it was on Walter's list). And it brought to my mind that I remembered reading that one of the reasons for the name bagdes was for advertisement purposes. I found where I read it:
*** km 5/82 p. 6 1982 ?Kingdom Truth? District Conventions *** "LAPEL CARDS: These cards are provided as a means of advertising the convention as well as to facilitate identifying our brothers and sisters in attendance." And that led me to remembering that JWs do not want to mixing in the company of many worldly people ( you know, those people who they spend hours going from house-to-house with the motive of directing them to their own organization?)..which leads to the question of..... Advertising the convention to WHO? The MANY WORDLY PEOPLE THEY DON'T WANT TO BE MIXING IN COMPANY WITH DURING THE DAY? *** km 5/99 p. 5 1999 ?God?s Prophetic Word? District Conventions *** "Many have said that the opportunity to relax during the noon break and spend additional time with their brothers and sisters has been enjoyable. This requires purchasing foodstuffs and beverages ahead of time and packing them in a small container or cooler that can fit under the seat. We request that all in attendance follow this instruction. Lately, building managers and food vendors in the facilities where our conventions are held have observed some brothers leaving the auditorium to purchase food from street vendors and fast-food establishments nearby. Some of the food vendors in the convention facilities being used are now demanding that they be allowed to open their food stands and serve the delegates attending our conventions. If this were permitted, many worldly people would be mixing in company with us during the day. " So just who does the WTS INC. wish their followers to advertise for them too?

iiz2cool : no pepperoni on your pizza
LOL.... Why would I not be surprized if that were true?
And I'd like to add to your list....
no buying food from food vendors at the convention sites.

Their whole disfellowshipping process AND their reistatement process AND their 170-something questions before a person can be baptised AND their whole "apply and either be rejected or approved" to go and preach for as many hours as a a person wishes to AND their updated version of the "good news" to be preached that the WTS admits goes BEYOND what Christ's first century followers preached AND their teaching that their "great crowd" of followers "bow down to", spiritually , to the group of fellow humans who make up the WTS INC's faithful and discreet slave AND also teaching that their "great crowd" render sacred service accaptable to God ONLY in assocation with that group of humans that make up the WTS INC's faithful and discreet slave. ....and the list goes on and on and on.
I'm glad you asked.

flowers i have growing in my front yard?
are they wild?
they pop up every spring, even though they are ignored and aren't given any care.?
Thank you ALL !!! Now that I know what they are called, I can read up on them and see if I can plant more and when to plant them.
Nowisee,
I've never pressed flowers before. I'm not sure what that even is!
zev and I are both doing very good. I hope all is well with you too!

flowers I have growing in my front yard? Are they wild? They pop up every spring, even though they are ignored and aren't given any care.? I live in RI, USA if that may help. I've searched on the net and haven't found what they are.
after much deliberation, i decided to go "out" at the end of a public talk.
it didn't go down too well, but at least i was able to give some of my reasons for leaving.. i've put some of the details on my homepage.
i'll update it more when i get the time and the strength.

I remember listening to your talk as if it were yesterday. Time flies by so quickly!! I thought your talk was wonderful and I think you are fortunate that you got the chance to state your mind and beliefs and reasons for walking away, before leaving, and took full advantage of that. Not many have that opportunity ( especailly women, because they are not allowed to address the congregation with talks, but have to talk to EACH OTHER in skit fashion)
I pray that you and your wife have made it through this. So many marriages have ended simply because it was found that their marriage was "organizational" ? Not sure how to word what I'm trying to get across! But that is the best word I can use, knowing others whose marriages were based on both being in the WT organization, rather than based on the love that two become one. Anyway, either way, I wish for you both love and happiness in all aspects of your life.
I thank you for sharing with all of us.

THE SON JUST AS THEY HONOR THE FATHER" Just my thoughts this week that I wanted to share..... October 15,1971 Watchtower p. 627 ***Are the Churches Leading the Nations into Collision with God?*** "MAINLY, what the people believe about God they have learned from the churches, or from what church leaders have said or done. But have they really learned the truth about God? Or have they received a distorted picture? If one reads about God purely from the Bible, does its portrayal of God collide with what the churches teach and do?" Here is what I read about God purely from the Bible: John 5:22-23 22 For the Father judges no one at all, but he has committed all the judging to the Son, 23 in order that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He that does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. Here is what I read taught by the church leaders of the Jehovah's Witnesses: 10/1/00 Watchtower... Study?Rewarding and Enjoyable "12 To comprehend such ?deep things of God,? it is necessary to study prayerfully and reflect on his Word. For example, fine material has been published that shows how Jehovah can at once be just and merciful. His exercising of mercy is not a watering down of his justice; rather, divine mercy is an expression of God?s justice as well as his love. When judging a sinner, Jehovah first determines whether it is possible to show mercy on the basis of his Son?s ransom sacrifice. If the sinner is unrepentant or rebellious, God allows justice to take its course without unwarranted mercy. Either way, he is faithful to his elevated principles. (Romans 3:21-26) ?O the depth of God?s wisdom!??Romans 11:33." And here is something else I read by the church leaders of Jehovah's Witnesses regarding ALL MAY honor the Son JUST AS they honor the Father: *** re chap. 7 Rekindle That First Love! *** [Box on page 36] Loving Praise to Jehovah and His Son " In the songbook produced by Jehovah?s people in 1905, there were twice as many songs praising Jesus as there were songs praising Jehovah God. In their 1928 songbook, the number of songs extolling Jesus was about the same as the number extolling Jehovah. But in the latest songbook of 1984, Jehovah is honored by four times as many songs as is Jesus. This is in harmony with Jesus? own words: ?The Father is greater than I am.? (John 14:28) " Seems to me that the leaders of the JWs have taken away what God committed to his Son IN ORDER THAT ALL JWs do not honor the Son JUST AS they honor the Father. And here is what I learned from the Church leaders of Jehovah's Witnesses, stating the truth about where everything a Jehovah's Witness learns comes from: *** km 4/93 p. 3 ?To the House of Jehovah Let Us Go? *** "3 Direct Interest to the Organization: From our initial contact with interested persons, we should be directing their attention to the organization. While we may be able personally to locate scriptures and explain fundamental doctrines, we are not the source of such knowledge. Everything we have learned has come from the organization,.." Jehovah's Witnesses cannot honestly say that everything they have learned is purely from them reading the Bible, can they? And they also can't honestly say that they don't have human leaders, can they? Is Christ directing "the organization" to ignore that the Father judges no one at all, but committed ALL THE JUDGING to the SON in order that nobody honors the Son just as they do the Father? peace, somebody P.S. And where is MacHislopp ? Anyone heard from him? I miss his topics!
have a great day !!
cheers to the next 20 years !!
love you guys !!
Congratulations to the two of you from my heart.
ONE person alone ( no matter if male or female) sees and feels so many changes happening to their very souls and beings in the passing of 20 years. I'm so happy two souls became one and LIVED throughout those changes in the TWO lives. It truly expalins how two beings become one, through good and bad happenings in two lives, blended together to make ONE.
