  Seattle radio discusses JW blood policy deaths

  this week a 14 year old jw named dennis lindberg died because he refused blood transfusions which were part of his treatment for leukemia.. this has garnered some unwanted attention on jws from the seattle news media.. there are two of these programs available for download:.

  I only listened to Thursdays so far. It is SO sad that this 14 year old chose to die. Fot what reasons I would say that nobody knows, IF he were not a JW and living with JW gardians for the past 2 years.

  Being an active member INSIDE the JW sect for 10 years leads me to believe that. There are three things that stood out in my mind when listening, so I'm going to say them now, while they are fresh in my mind.

  #1 is that JWs who make a conscience decision to accept a blood tranfusion have to REPENT for making that "conscience decision". If they do not REPENT FOR THAT "SIN"( i.e. accepting the blood tranfusion), then they WILL BE DISFELLOWSHIPPED. On what grounds? On the grounds of being an UNREPENTENT SINNER. So much for being free to make decisions according to ones conscience!

  #2 is that the public do not know that JWs are taught that if one dies before the "new world gets here"/before armageddon arrives, they are automattically forgiven for thier sins. DEATH FORGIVES SINS is what JWs are taught. And if anyone remebers being 14 years old, then we remember plenty of "sins of the mind", even if not acted out. And hpw many of us who were JWs at that age GUILTY with a captal G of the "secret sin" ? !!! We were defitely guilt ridden for being human beings because we didn't know that we were NATURAL human beings with NATURAL thougths.

  getting carried away so moving on....

  #3 is that a JW who called said that there are TWO FLOCKS. Did anyone else catch that JW speaking that one truth about what JWs are taught?

  I, when I was a JW, nor any other JW back then would ever say those words (even though we were taught that by our human leaders), to the public/everyone outside of the JW sect!

  I'm so very thankful that I have a MAN who not only CAN love, but who DOES.

  Filling expectations or expecting "payoffs" if he does, no more enters his mind than not filling expectations and getting no "payoff" does.

  He's the walking talking true definition of a MAN, and I love him.

  Always have, always will.

  So perhaps you should have named your topic "Why SOME men cannot love", because THE FACT is that MEN CAN LOVE.

  There are even MEN WHO CAN LOVE WITHOUT EXPECTING PAYOFFS in ANY FORM. And there are SOME MEN who cannot love, period.

  Secret Santa Ideas thread

  This is SO much fun! I did my shopping today and absolutely LOVED looking for things I think the person I'm giving to would like. I'm going to send mine out this week.

  I tried to get some fun things along with some sentimal items. Things that one can take out every year and remember this year, 2008. Some times adults love thigns they remember having when they we young too! If you have any dollar stores in your neighborhoods, you'll be amazed what you find there for a decent price and things that bring back memories you yourself have of times past ( crazes and fads of the times), that you know the person you are giving to had if he or she is in the same age bracket you are.

  I enjoyed shopping today more than I ever remember enjoying shopping, seeing as how I hate shopping ( unless it's a cooking gadget store or grocery store, because I love cooking). Odd for a female I know, but it's the truth!

  Just wanted to share with all of you, maybe give some ideas while at the same time, bring this back to the top for those who may not know this thread is here.

  Secret Santa is wonderful also for those of us who the "empty nest syndrome" rears it's head every year at this time, making it a somewhat sad time of year. Yeah...I'm one ot those!

  What a great idea! I was at a loss on what to get for a special someone!

  I like reading books, especailly true crime and crime scene investigations. There are two of Ann Rule's books that i haven't read yet ( I have no problem reading books that have been used or read by someone else either, so second hand is fine! ) The two titles of the books are "No Regrets" and " Smoke, Mirrors, and Murder". Any ONE would be great!

  I love candles and potpouri also.

  after several years of a great friendship with diane (previously posted as xena) things have started to really come together recently and i've succumbed to making an honest woman of her (or at least as honest as it's possible to make her.

  last night (xmas day) i popped the question and she agreed to marry me (i wonder if she knows what she's let herself in for!!!)..

  Thanks for the more congrats and well wishes! Harold thanks you all too!

  Here are a few more parts to the background of Harold/zev. I'll post my one short bio when I'm finished with zev's 9 part ( zev has alwaqys been a man of few words. This part of his life was an exeption for sure! ) He was going through pure agony, as many here have been through. I thank Simon and Angarad for taking the time and energy for running this board and keeping it going for years, through both good times and happy times. It has given SO MANY of us a place to pour out our hearts just when we needed it the most, and then some. I never ever forget that. ok...I'm getting off track again ( hey..I never said that I was a woman of few words! )
