i don't closely follow this show, but this week's episode (bad blood, season 9 episode 13) was captivating for me as an ex-jw.
one of the story lines centered on a 19-year-old boy whose family is jw (but he is obviously a fringe jw) - brought into the emergency room after a serious skateboarding accident by his friend who was totally unaware he was jw.. the episode summary along with a "watch this episode" link is linked below.. i found most of the jw storyline quite realistic (except for a "we believe prayers can yield miracles" quote from one of the jw's - i think it was the mother).
after the parents refused a blood transfusion for the boy, the resulting chaos and philosophical arguments were riveting to watch.. http://abc.go.com/shows/greys-anatomy/episode-detail/bad-blood/1062764?page=1.
Thanks Gopher ! ( I hope all is well with you and yours! LONG time no see! )

i just joined a few days ago.
still in (physically, not mentally...) for family reasons... how many attendees at the kh in the same situation ?
currently living in france, wont say more on me for the moment.... .
Reactions: silence, some astonished faces, and back to sleep.
Seems the reaction from the congregations to ANY changes whatsoever, hasn't changed since to 70s. SAD! :-(
for any old-school ex-jws here that remember my many posts about my abusive jw mother and my sister committing suicide because of it...she passed away this morning because she began to bleed out and refused a transfusion.
she had been in the hospital for a month.
it appears she suffered a stroke and wasn't found by the brothers & sisters for three days (they missed her at the meetings).
((((((((tatiana))))))))) I am SO sorry. For the loss of your mom and the many losses you've had to endure along with the abuse. My you find some more strenght to get you through this very difficult time!
peace to you,
somebody/gwen
P.S. Zev/harold also sends his thoughts and his deepest condolence to you.
let me first state that i have never been shunned.
i faded from the org very quickly & my life hasn't been blighted by this practice.. i have been out of the organisation for over 6 years.
most of the things i left the religion for, i have came to terms with.
jambon1
"How can they justify it? How can they possibly believe that this is 'god's will.' How can they believe that it is 'loving?'
JW's who are practicing this should take a good look at themselves.
You are devoid of even the most basic form of humanity.
You are the very people the bible spoke of when it talks about individuals 'having no natural affection.'
Hang your heads in shame."
AMEN. I've asked myself those questions for YEARS, and the behavior disgusts me too.
i was just making a comment on a christian's youtube and someone said this:.
i just realized?
ur an ex jw and dont believe in god no point in making a reply to u... .
Count me in as an EXJW who still believes in God, not an antheist. If anything, I realized that I actually was atheist while I was a JW, but didn't realize it back then, if that makes any sense.

just curious, if anyone had lost faith whilst on jwn and do u think it is an honorable experience?..
I've been on JWN for YEARS and have never lost my faith in God. However, I DID lose my faith in god for years before I ever registered here, during my years involved in the JW sect.

just got word that my youngest brother died of pancreatic cancer.
he was diagnosed in early august.
this has been really tough for me and my family..
((((poppers)))) May you find strenght at this very difficult time. I lost my sister in April to cancer, so I know how hard it is. I don't believe that time HEALS all wounds, but I do believe that times eases the pain of such woulds. Take your time in mourning and hold all your memories of your brother forever in your heart. My heartfelt condolences to you.

following recent posts, articles, blogs (thanks cedar and others for their excellent work) i would like to contribute something, to show the hypocrisy and the constant doctrinal changes of the society.. .
to begin:.
qualified to be ministers (1955) p.156 par.
Hi MacH! I remember a post you made years ago on the subject called "The 1900 year old Faithful and Discreet Slave" or something like that. It's WONDERFUL to read your post and all your research. With more recent updates too!
I can't understand how some JWs will not even blink an eye over the "new light" regarding who the faitful and discreest slave is, according to the men who make up GB, governing over MILLIONS of JWs. It STILL baffles me! ESPECAILLY with all the history you just posted.

i know quite a few from both of these schools who basically crashed and burned once they got into their assignments.
graduates of these schools would be thrown into foreign territorities or remote areas without a good visible means of support and would get emotionally, mentally, financially burned out.
post your experiences or of those you know that went to these pitiful excuses for educational institutions..
SHAMELESS BUMP.

you can cut & paste all the excerpts from articles you want...you can leak all the boe letters, you can pretend to be witnesses and come to the conventions and meetings...but.
no other organization can begin to rival the success and magnitude of the prophecy found in mt 24:14. so apostates....don't waste your time spending countless hours digging up articles and reading books to convince yourself to turn away from jh's organization.
no matter what "evidence" you find you cannot ignore the obvious fulfillment of matthew 24:14.. .
Tell us all here, just what "this good news" is that no other organization preaches. It certainly is NOT the SAME message that Christ and HIS followers preached in the Bible. We already know that.
