would anyone mind doing one of those famous internet introduction sessions?.
since i completely and thoroughly filled out my profile, i think you all know enough about me :) and if you are bad, bad people, you might even know my history with the jws.
but, i'll give you the run-down, since i'm asking.. my real name is teresa (tishie being a nickname from my husband [tish, actually], which i adapted for the 'net about 5 or 6 years ago because i didn't like running into other teresas... eh, rf?)..
working on some mail for you, RHW. I did attend one of the same congregations as you did. maybe not the same years though. I bet we knew/know some of the same people though.

I'm sorry about all the typing errors in my post. I'll check my posts before sending from now on.

Hi Tishie,
I've been here for a litle over a month and I like this board. Great group of people here. Hope you enjoy it too.
I don't mind giving personl information out about myself because I feel free to do so. I'm thankful I don't have to lose family members because I haven't stepped into a KH in 20 yrs.
My real name is Gwen. I've been married forever it seems. I have 2 children. I have a son (Ricky) who will be 19 in October. He is about to enter his 2nd yr. of college. He going to be a pharmacist. I have a daughter ( Joselynn ) sho is 16 and entering her Junior year in high school. She takes all enriched classes and wants to atten Boson University when she graduates and get into the sciences. my children did not get there brains from me. I can't say they got them from their father either. :-) Go figure.
I live on the east coast of the USA, and I'm 37 yers old. OK....so I lied. :-) I'm 39. I've heard that life begins at 40. I'm looking foreward to mine beginning. I'm really going to start living it!
It's nice to meet you.
:-)

~~~~Just because swans mate for life, I don't think its that big a deal. First of all, if you're a swan, you're probably not going to find a swan that looks much better than the one you've got, so why not mate for life?~~~~
i just recieved getile times by coj...i ordered it 2 months ago when i was full into analysing dub doctrine...but since then, i just dont care anymore about dub doctrine or refuting it...but its still an interesting read though.i'm going through it v e r y s l o w l y..... has anyone else read some books from here: www.commentarypress.com.
"in search of christian freedom" looks interesting?...sign of the last days?...dont all xdubs have to read coc...isn't it a sort of right of passage for you guys?..
Path,
::The book is a good place to start if you still want to hold onto Christian ideals and is helpful in explaining why you felt the way you did and why you did the things you did as a JW.
-------------------------
Thanks for clarifying that, Path. I was having second thoughts about even reading it.
waiting,
:::Read, or have in my possession, all the books mentioned. Very good, exhaustive, and like some other posters, getting tired of them - for the moment, too much too fast for a staid jw.
:::I personally like Stephen King & John Grishem(?) for just reading.
>Me too. I also read Dean Koontz, Ann Rule, and Robin Cook. You'd probobaly enjoy those authors as well.
:::Surprisingly, no one's mentioned the Bible? Curious.
> It's my opionion, ( not speaking for anyone else here ) that the Bible is great, deep reading and a guide for Christians to live life by. But it can't be read like a novel. I don't have the mental capacity. And that's one thing I can't blame on my teens (dammit, I hate when that happens! ).
-----------------------------------
Simon,
::::I've read 'em all. Does that make me sad or obsesive or something ?
I just read a lot. Honest.
> No, it doesn't make you sad or obsessive. It means that you enjoy reading, period. I couldn't help think of that twighlite zone episode with Mr. Beamis ( no, not Beavis ) in it when you asked that though. If there are any twilight zone fans out here, they'll know who I talking about. :-)
.........................
Off subject here for a minute. Anyone care to share the secret of how to separate stuff that people I'm responding to say with the bolded lines? That would be a heck-of-a-lot easier than what I've been doing. Sorry if I'm confusing anyone with the way I've been doing it. :-(
till next time,
what scripture if any is the organisation using now to validate the changes they have made regarding new light?
.
has anyone heard any more on this and do all the brothers and sisters now know about the changes.. just curious
I still know a woman in her early 60s who doesn't realize that the WBTS ever changed what God's view of accepting an organ transplant is! She still thinks it's still means that you're a cannibal if you would accept one if needed! It would be great if the WBTS would make study articles on these subjects and stucy them repetitiously like they do on going door tho door collecting contributions. It would be nice if they would print articles in the awake magaizine on these subjects to, rather than articles on what worms eat and such.
~~~~If you're ever selling your house, and some people come by, and a big rat comes out and he's dragging the rattrap because it didn't quite kill him, just tell the people he's your pet and that's a trick you taught him.~~~~
i recently read a post on the net regarding how often men think about sex.
i started to think about how often i did.
i followed this up with a survey on antoher site and found i ranked low and they told me i had sexual problems.
That's what I was thinking. The body is the congregation, and then there are all the members. I'm not sure that it has anything to do with the human body, with all it's limbs/members. :-) I'm going to read up on it though, for sure.
