dear brothers and sisters,.
i martini, will confide in you that i have become a neutral jehovah's witness.
i wonder if i'm not coining a new phrase here!.
Martini,
I hear what your saying and I would like to encourage you not to lose faith in Jehovah God.
Thru the pages of the Bible, God has always given us men of faith and their exemplary way of life as an example of who can become God's friend.
The eyes of Jehovah are searching the earth in search of the ones who will worship Him with spirit and truth.
As we enter a new era in human history because of the internet and it's massive data of info and especially the info regarding our worship, you should feel it to be a very priviledge time for you and your family.
Why here I am typing some words of encouragement for you Martini and I have never met you in person and yet I understand what your trying to express. Don't feel like your the only one. I too have felt this way. The best part of it is your faith is being tested.
I can certainly say mine was, and I have come to the conclusion , to make sure your worship is directed in the right place. That is the worship of Jehovah God above anyone or anything else.
I have come to the conclusion by reading the diffrent web sites on the internet that the society is right in a lot of their teachings but dead wrong in certain areas and use the excuse to wait on Jehovah to correct things, while it is in the power of their very hand to change things quickly for the benefit of the brotherhood but most importantly pleasing our Heavenly Father in spirit and truth.
Have you notice so many who call themselves true JW's shy away from difficult questions concerning our doctrines? We are supposed to be champions of truth so why the fear to discuss difficult issues? Certainly our examplar Jesus was a very public person with his beliefs, he had an answer for everybody, which meant answering some of the vilest persons and most importantly truth lovers. In this way He showed perfect love by throwing fear outside. He also used his reason to discern and give an answer to people who had no love of truth and wanted to rob him of his time.
So in conclusion Martini I would just like to say keep your head up and may Jehovah answer your prayers for he really does love His sheep. You have to remember this is only step one in the training of Godly individuals and lovers of truth. Truth lovers are able to take it when they are wrong or right, they acknowledge, they don't run and hide like the ostrich. In this system of things as we near the end, we have a very good preview of what our tests will be like for any who make it in the new system and approach the end of the thousand years while satan is let loose. What I'm still learning is this, to never confuse your loyalties or you worship. God's law comes first. He is the one that trains you if you stay close to Him. The end result is a close relationship with Him and the free gift of life in His new order.
In conclusion I just want to say the society has taught us many truths by many faithful brothers over the years of which I'm forever grateful to Jehovah for providing these men. However our worship goes to God not men.
let's put forth a question here that should provoke some interesting responses.
please feel free to give your thoughts on the matter inasmuch as that is the purpose of these boards.
we (jehovah's witnesses) do not accept blood transfusions on the principle that 'blood is sacred'.
Frenchy,
Abstain from blood means exactly to abstain from blood according to Acts 15 verse 20 How can we not say or justify that all these blood fractions are not from blood? And further more, if you read in Acts in the same verse it mentions to abstain from fornication. So the question comes up, is it ok to commit just a tiny part of what's called fornication without it being called fornication? Doesn't make sense does it?
The faithful slave no doubt had our best interest at heart when they allowed blood fractions, to make our brothers and sisters life easier when coping with emergencies but by even compromising just a tiny bit on this scripture they have created a monumental problem between themselves and Jehovah's view on the sacredness of blood.
The sacredness of blood in the Bible is the correct view. Think of the enormous price that was paid to buy back mankind by Christ shed blood.
I believe when the Bible says no blood it means no blood in any form.
i would just like to point out that when i first bought my computer and connected to the internet, the first words i typed in my browser were jehovah, jehovah's witnesses, watchtower.... i must say, i was quite amazed to see so many websites that were for and against us.
my curiosity got the better of me and started reading sites such as watchtower.org ,witnesses.net,watchtower observer, h20, freeminds...ect.. did it bother me to read opposing materials or websites?
as i mentioned in another thread i have spent many years training myself a conscience trained to what the bible and the society's publication have encouraged us to do.. again coming back to the question, did it bother me reading all this opposing stuff?
Dear Lester,
You missed the point of my post. I will try to clear it up for you. Never would I encourage my brothers and sisters to visit or any lenght of time in mud holes on the internet. It was when I first connected up that I read some of those sites and the KM wasn't out then, also I am probably 99.99 percent sure that most of you did at one time or another.
If you Lester are free in this respect please throw the first stone.
For my own personal use ( again not encouraging anyone to do as I did) I did it to be able to make a defence against what opposers are saying against us, as eventually because of the millions connected up to the internet every month you will come across individuals in the field ministry who will have downloaded materials from these sites and want an explanation especially if your just studying with someone who has internet access.
Jesus read opposer material as he was fully aware of the teachings of the scribes and pharisees and saduccees and the samaritans, that's why He was able to make a defence of the good news of the kingdom.
Brother Russell (brought up a seven day adventist) had to read opposser material to be able to engage in the religious debates against the opposers of his day.
All the writing commitees at headquarters over the years had to really do in depth and extensive research in translation of the NWT which required reviewing diffrent works from diffrent religious, secular, non-secular...to make sure of all things. And you might be surprised to find in Bethel's research library what your average brother or sister would consider apostate material.
Also the society has read some of these sites that I am mentioning , for the simple fact is how would they be able to bring out such a powerful Kingdom ministry about the use of the internet and its dangers?
In conclusion Lester, even if you do leave this board for another JW board what guarantees you that you will not meet up with wolves in sheeps clothing? Fact of the matter is there is no guarantee, let the truth speak for itself. Jesus said by the hearts abundance the mouth speaks. But always remember that truth is not always welcomed and can be extremely painful. Why do you think the people who didn't like to hear the truth in Jesus day, seeked his death?
Also I should of left my statement, about:" Holier than thou." when talking about witnesses.net and kepted it to myself. My apoligies.
hi, i was wondering how many, if any, of you work with computers?
im thinking of going to school for pc networking and want to know if this is a wise choice.
Good choice Claudia, I would also recommend microsoft certification as it is worldwide recognized and more and more in demand in the IT industry.
Wishing you the best,
spectromize

Did it bother me to read opposing materials or websites? As I mentioned in another thread I have spent many years training myself a conscience trained to what the Bible and the Society's publication have encouraged us to do.
Again coming back to the question, did it bother me reading all this opposing stuff? The answer is YES! For the first time in over 20yrs in the privacy of my own home, I actually started to read apostate stuff. As for before the internet, when anybody out in field service would try to hand me anything that I considered apostate, I would be quick to reject it. I have found it helpful to know what opposers are saying about us to make a defense. I have also found it helpful to know that the Bible doesn't lie when it say's that some have come to be past all moral sense...and are bringing divine retribution for the ungodly things they spoke.
Did I learn anything from it? Yes of course. I learned that if your conscience is properly trained according to Bible standards, you will be quick to evaluate so called JW sites and XJW that promote immorality, blaspheming Jehovah's holy name, outrageous accusations without facts, holier than thou attitude like witnesses.net that will condemn this site as apostate and yet they have lottery banners, religious banners...posted on their site. As far as I'm concerned actions speak louder than words.
You must remember, according to the Bible account , that with all the meeknest of Moses as leading the rebellious Israelites out of Egypt and putting up with Dathan, Korah, and Abiraram, that he himself was not allowed to enter the promised land. Moses failed to honor Jehovah when he took more authority for striking that rock, which barred him from entering the kingdom at that time.
Also who could forget Judas Iscariot. The Bible called him a thief, because he took money from the contribution box and strongly objected to that expensive perfume being poured upon Jesus. He used his own twisted reasoning by saying that the perfume could of been sold and given to the poor. But yet Judas wasn't concerned about the poor he was concerned about his pocket book.
So in conclusion I would just like to say that the Faithful Slave have tought us many good things from God's word. They have always encouraged us to become trained mature christians in using our mental faculties to distinguish right from wrong according to what God's word teaches us about Christian freedom's true meaning, not enslavement to men's doctrines or law. For the few unfaithful slaves that have surfaced over the years at the society's headquarter, this I would like to say to you, True Christianity never was or ever will be about figures, numbers, money, material buildings, real estate, stock market, investment funds...but True Christianity comes from spiritual cleanliness of the heart as taught by Jesus who reflected God perfectly.
ah!
yes, that remark made by pilate after pilate had asked jesus wether he was a king.
( john 18:37-38 ).. how would you answer the question according to what we know from the bibles definition, and how the faithful and discreet slave have endeavored to give us spiritual food at the proper time?.
Bodhisattava,
Good scripture . Interestingly enough sanctify in my dictionary is defined as : to make holy and holy is defined as : living a life of spiritual purity.
So when the scripture say's : Sanctify them by means of the truth your word is truth, we could also say :
Make them live a life of spiritual purity by means of the truth your word is truth.
So again by God's word the Bible we can know how to live a life of spiritual purity.
ah!

Jschwehm,
Yes Jesus did say that but it was in answer to Thomas' question to Jesus' statement on going to prepare a place for them.
Looking at Jesus' life and conduct and teachings, he could truly say he was the truth. So if you want to say truth was a person, it was actually personified by Jesus himself.
Never once did he fear the scribes and pharisee's and sadducees. Frankly when Jesus broke some of their manmade rules they went a little nuts on him with the malicious questions and plotting.
Side note- Isn't it interesting at times when we really like an individual, we will exclaim ourselves by saying:" Boy that's a true person!"
ah!

Claudia in reply to your question about visiting other sites such as h2o, many do it for diffrent reasons.
I personally admit to having checked the board on occasion and did it because my christian conscience allowed me so.
I have trained my conscience as a christian to distinguish both right and wrong as we were thought from the scriptures. In reading some of the posts I have to admit some were really good but others were outright disgusting. You have a lot of people posting there that are part of this dark world of satan and they have but one agenda, that is to mislead you from the faith and the worship of Jehovah God.
Basically we would want to take the fine advice from Wise King Solomon who said at Eccl 12:12-14 " As regards anything besides these , my son, take a WARNING : To the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion (to them) is wearisome to the flesh. The conlusion of the matter, everything having been heard, is: FEAR the TRUE GOD and keep his commandements. For this is the whole obligation of man. For The TRUE GOD himself will bring every sort of work into the judgement in relation to every hidden thing, as to whether it is good or bad.
I'm sure if king Solomon were alive today and wrote those words about books he certainly would of added websites.
As we move on into time in this very special period in human history, because of the internet, and the vast amount of information available in the privacy of ones home, may all who have a love of God and his word the Bible, take the COMPLETE spiritual armor that Jehovah God gives, and interestingly enough the first piece of this armor is to have your loins girded about with TRUTH, (Ephesians 6: 14 ) which is what I wanted to talk about on this thread and truth's interesting nature as defined by the Bible.
ah!

Please use your memory without any assistance and see how interesting the diffrent angles we get on truth.
I would also like to thank Simon for opening this forum and send my warm christian greetings to all my brothers and sisters.
