Caliban,
Add another one to your list, which would be #3
"People have the power of decision."
Even so called good people have ruined their entire reputation on one bad choice!
as far as i see it, people are bad / evil (call it what you will) because of two possible things:.
1. they are genetically that way.
they are born like that.. 2. the way they have been brought up has made them that way.. either way, the influences are out of their control.

why cant i just be baptized like it says in the bible?
what can i tell my family?
Dear seven of nine,
Feel free to express yourself on any subject. We'll see if we can be of any assistance. I must say you throw quite a curve ball as far as speaking in tongues, it's the first time I ever heard someone associated with the org. that has had a problem as this.

Dear, Seven of nine,
If you want to talk about your experience feel free and we will try to be understanding. But I'm sure you already know what the organization teaches on the speaking of tongues and the pressure you could be put under. However if you want help, I will try to help, and you need not feel guilty.
we are often using our bible-trained-conscience in everyday activities.
that if anyone comes to you and does not bring.
this teaching, you are not to say hello, or.
Brooke,
The scriptures state in 1st corinthians chapter 5 verse 13 to remove the wicked man from among yourselves. If you read chapter 5 it will give you a better idea of what Paul was talking about.
The scriptures does allow discipline to be administered within the cong. but great care should be used that the justice administered reflects Jehovah's mind on the matter. I will post something later on this.
Take care and welcome to this forum, looking to hear more from you.
how many here still believe the organization is ahead of any other religion as far as teaching truth from the bible despite some of the wrong teachings that we perhaps have???.
i will be the first to answer in saying, i still believe we are ahead of any other religion for the present but it can change.
only time will tell wether the organization wants to adjust to some of their mistaken chronology and teachings.

Only time will tell wether the organization wants to adjust to some of their mistaken chronology and teachings. If they don't want to adjust then it will become plain in view of the age of information and of God allowing nations and opposers be a thorn in the side just as He did in times past.
just a question trying to find out what most of you like best about learning some things taught in the scriptures and our worship as jw's.
Thank you for giving me another angle on things and what you say could be another possibility. I will consider that option also but from our lenghthy conversation I am still convinced from some of the details that she gave me that this is for real.

Claudia,
You should let no one pressure you to get baptize our feel pressured by family to do so. I have known a lot in the organization that got baptize because their friends were getting baptized or the family was putting pressure on them. Jehovah knows the heart, we can't fool Him if we are not truly dedicated to Him.
Claudia, I just want to encourage you study hard as far as the Bible goes and get all of your questions answered especially the ones that the organization is afraid to answer. If we really do have the truth we should welcome scrutiny without fear.
A word of caution about your questions, there are many who will consider them apostate questions so be very careful so that you don't becoming marked and shunned by immature brothers or sisters. When you are ready you will know when to get baptized.

Thanks for your expressions,
I have to tell you one of my favorites is where the scriptures talk about Jehovah's name being a strong tower. I recently had the priviledge of helping a very distressed woman on how to handle the demons harassing her by calling out Jehovah's name aloud and getting rid of objects that she had bought at a garage sale that belonged to a deceased man who possibly dabbled in spiritism.
She was really grateful and told me that everyone thought she was nuts for telling them what was going on in her house and said that I was the first person to believe her.
okay, i'm interested in what everybody thinks on this.
i believe that for the most parts all religions start off with a good motive, i.e., to provide a forum that will help people to serve god.
(basically).
Frenchy in reply to your question,
...why is it we cannot understand the Bible which is a product of that spirit?
If I understand you correctly, in your complete post, you point to the fact that we as a religion and because of the FDS that no one can really understand the Bible outside of us, well I hate to disagree with you.
The Bible being a product of God's spirit is available to all mankind and no one has the absolute complete truth decoded from God's prohecies and other deep things. Jehovah sees fit to reveal his truth about Himself to anyone who sees fit regardless of your occupation or status, that includes some of the following examples:
1-Prophets
2-FDS
3-The little girl who advised Naaman's wife on where he could get a cure from his leprosy.
4-The fellow who the disciples opposed and complained to Jesus about wanting to stop his activities.
5-The evildoer on the stake beside Jesus and the list could go on and on.
The point I want to make is this, you can understand the Bible on your own by reading it however there are deep things and if a person is willing to put forth the effort out of a clean heart, then God is looking for such like ones to worship with spirit and truth. Of course Jehovah has sent friends of His to help sheep like ones which we should never discount.
If any of you think that it's not possible to understand the Bible outside the FDS you are mistaken. You should ask yourself the question:
Why do you think the Bible holds the world record for the most distributed book on the earth, the most translated book in nearly every earth's languages, isn't it God's will for everyone to avail themselves and not only for a small group?
