I got my non-JW relative who knows about my situation to be my health care proxy. He did agree and even asked for something in writing from me about what I really wanted in an emergency. So I gave a copy of my card to the elders, and they didn't ask about who my primary health care agent was. Hopefully it won't come up.

so the elders in our kh are moving to get us to sign new simplified blood cards and keep them on file.
i really need to not rock the boat in my current pimo status because of circumstances.. my cousin knows i have doubts about the blood thing, but i can’t show her that my doubts are getting to me.

Update: he asked for it. I’ve put off signing it but now I feel like I have to turn it in. I’ve been really good about acting mentally in, and I really need to maintain PIMO status right now.
So if I don’t carry the card in my wallet, in an emergency they would just save my life right? In the U.S in ER situations, do they contact someone to ask about blood first?
Also, do you guys think if I put a non-JW sibling as my first contact that it would raise red flags?

so what are the elders likely to do if you decline their offer ?
I'm not actually sure what will happen.
Why rock the boat unnecessarily. Hide the new blood card and make an "I accept blood card" for your wallet with blood type etc. and signature.
I'm just worried that in an emergency they will have this on file and will come to speak for me and deny me blood. Would an "I accept blood" card be legally binding over the PoA? I was thinking of making a post-dated document that stated the following:
"I, Pometerre21, being of sound mind and judgment on this day March 3, 2018, do hereby declare any previous medical Power of Attorney documents to be null and void. In the event that I require a life-saving medical treatment involving the use of whole blood or its parts, I will accept. Please disregard any documents of power of attorney before this date."
And then keeping something of the above in my wallet in lieu of my death warrant blood card. Would I have to get someone to witness me signing the above?

2018-List Of Publications Approved For Discard!

Even if this is just library management, it's still suspicious. "Worldly" libraries don't just throw out old books when something newer comes along. And they do say "discard," Meaning to throw away...not for people to keep what they want from it.
How can elders do this and not even question it?

Please tell us what State or country in which you live.
I live in the United States. I don't want to get too specfic because of WT spies or anything. The elder actually wanted to be the one to witness me signing these new cards and whatnot. I'll try to stall...I really don't want this on file at the KH. I would want a postdated card to be perfectly legal in an emergency. Would I have to get someone to witness me signing such a document stating that I would take a blood transfusion?
If I don't carry a blood card but I have my ID and I do get into a medical emergency, can they give me blood if they don't find that DPA on me? Say I was brought to the ER and needed blood, do they really need to call anyone before they administer blood?

Hello all,
I posted this on r/exjw, but I thought I might post it here as well.
So the elders in our KH are moving to get us to sign new simplified blood cards and keep them on file. I really need to not rock the boat in my current PIMO status because of circumstances.
My cousin knows I have doubts about the blood thing, but I can’t show her that my doubts are getting to me. It’s a weird set of circumstances I have.
If I were to go through with signing a blood card, would putting my blood type on my license be enough to invalidate that? (In addition to not carrying the card on me).
In an emergency, if the blood card isn’t found on the person, will a hospital give you blood to save your life? Or would they have to contact someone first?
Is it mandatory that these cards be kept on file at the KH? Do I have the right to refuse this? I'm trying to think of a way to respectfully decline to have my card on file with them that doesn't raise any red flags. Any advice for this?

Do Jehovah's Witnesses Accept Evolution?
by jukief inby evolution or by creation?
by evolution or by creation?
"the bible is a myth" and "evolution is true".

Bizarrely , they accept evolution at a vastly faster speed than in reality as they state all animal types on earth are derived from a few species that came out of Noah's ark. For example , they claim that the over 34,000 animal species are somehow derived from maybe 1,000 or less "kinds". Evolution on this hugely accelerated scale has never been observed and there is absolutely no evidence for it.
This is what I wanted to say. If they believe that a global flood happened in 2370 BCE, they most certainly have to accept some mutant hyper-evolution of epic proportions. There are over 91,000 species of insects in the USA alone (Source). How these different species got to where they are today would have to have been through supernatural rates of evolution or something.
Furthermore, the animals that only exist in certain places (Amazon Rainforest, Australia, Madagascar)...how the hell did they get there and only there?? Where did Noah find the room to fit all these different animals? Why do lions, tigers, bears have sharp teeth if they were supposed to be vegetarians? Why are snakes venomous? Spiders?

What does shunning acomplish?
by poopie inwell in order to shun someone you must dehumanize them much like what occurred in slavery.
dehumanizing someone now allows you treat them worst then an animal.
and now you can justify ignoring them there not human anymore.

Besides being exactly what everyone else said it is, I find shunning to be so...childish. This is what children do. If they do not get their way or exactly what they want, they throw a tantrum. They may give the silent treatment. I can't believe how I didn't realize before how absolutely childish and immature it is. You cannot simply handle disagreements or "wrongdoing" like an adult. You have to do this cruel, inhuman, immature, abusive equivalent to modern day stoning because that's how you want to deal with things. You have to stop talking to someone until you get them to do what you want. It's like throwing a goddamned tantrum.
Besides, as I mentioned, they shun because they can't stone. I have a disfellowshipped family member, and the excuse I got for shunning them is that "If we were in Bible times, he would have been stoned." Cool. I'm so glad Satan's system decided to do away with this barbaric practice (for the most part). I'm so glad that we have an alternative to stoning because it's against the law to kill someone for their sin now. Great.

Try Not To Vomit When You Read Todays Text
by pale.emperor intuesday, february 27. let the elders who preside in a fine way be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard in speaking and teaching.—1 tim.
5:17.. those related to us in the faith certainly merit honor and respect.
this is especially true of the elders who are taking the lead.

I also happened to read the text today for the first time in weeks...and that crap was it. The fact that they even use the word “high regard” is telling. They expect reverence just short of worship is what I got from the text. Such humility. I wonder what Jesus would think if he were real.
And yeah, the only time there was a governing body was when they had an issue. No group of men controlled the early Christians and dictated their every move. The closest to that was Paul with his damn letters.

In one sentence, can you pinpoint a single event that woke you up?

Mentally, it was when the $4,000 fine article from the San Diego Reader popped up on my news feed and I started investigation the child abuse that this religion was responsible for covering up.
Emotionally, a couple of weeks after the above, I watched a video on the vestigial traits that humans have because of evolution. There was one that talked about how our ears have muscles that cause them to "perk up" or move at a sudden sound. I have always wondered about this because my ears do it. I would ask other people I knew well if their ears did this; I thought it was strange. Come to find out that there is no other reason our ears do this other than we descended from a species for which this was necessary during their hunting days. I wanted to cry when I saw that video. It seems like such a small thing, but it was such a simple, sensical answer to this tiny thing I had wondered about myself.
