Ruby: You base your beliefs on what those two idiots did? I know you can't judge 6 millions Witnesses based on the actions of two ex-elders.

Watchtower to pay for Silentlambs trip
by Dogpatch infrom silentlambs (bill bowen):.
on thursday of this week world wide work money will again be spent to protect a pedophile.
in addition it will also be spent to pay money to a disfellowshipped person in order to find a way to prevent them from assisting the court case of abuse survivors.

DJ: We do handle child abuse cases judicially, so these are not running around free as you state. They ARE disfellowshipped from their Witness environment. I think the problem is with those cases that are not as clear and cannot be proven. The difference with the Catholic problem is very simple. Catholic priests were transferred to other churches were they were still serving as priests were they would again abuse children. In somes cases, I believe the transferring was done several times. The abuse obviously being covered up by church officials. The JW problem is not that way. Someone that is accused of child abuse is not transferred to another congregation, no, they face a judicial committee. If found guilty, they are difellowshipped. As many disfellowshipped here know, this is awful, were not even their family members has contact with them in many cases. The issue with many victims is wether the crime was reported to the authorities or not.
144 Thousand: There must be a way to see those statements. I don't know, but aren't these shown at the annual meeting?

Lying eyes: I agree that the "victims" need help, but how can we help if the "victim" is filing suits against us? The "victims" are entitled help but they're not entitled to the donations that we donate towards the preaching work! If the lowlife that abused the "victim" is in prison, shouldn't that be enough instead of trying to screw 6 million witnesses out of their donations?

Ruby: No really, you're not very open minded if you really believe your own words. The donations are carefully spent on the world wide work. The congregations in the U.S. can afford a payment on their Kingdom Halls, for example, but 75% of the countries around the world would not be able to build Kingdom Halls without the help of the U.S. branch. Also, you think publishing the amount of literature the Watchtower does yearly is cheap? The accusation that they're greedy is really absurd!

The WatchtowerÂ’s Investments in Warfare Technology
by l3gi0n inthis cant really be true, can it?

Thanks Gerard for that info. I'm going to have to write to the Society asking why they haven't sold those shares if they own them. Honestly, holding on to shares for 16 years doesn't make any sense because they could have gone up or down. If they would have gone down, then the donation would have been lost. So I would have sold them right away and taken the profit. I'll write specifically to a bethelite that would know about this.

I agree, everyone has a right to defend themselves. However, would you not agree that if Caesar has found Berry guilty, that the honest thing to do is help the victims? Using resources to oppose the "right thing to do" demonstrates the WT true priorities in this matter.
What? Help the victims with money? Is that going to make everything better, will that erase their memories? Fine the lowlife was found guilty. The point is the Watchtower is being FORCED to use their resources in defending itself against these "victims" that are out to make themselves rich!

He's just baiting you. Don't waste your energy or breath on him (or her).
O.k. so now I can't say a thing, because whatever I say you take it as baiting? Come on, give me a break here!

I believe the case going on now is a civil suit against the elders and Watchtower Society.
Let me get this straight. The Watchtower was sued and Bill Bowen is criticizing them for using their resources to defend themselves? Is he stupid or something? The Watchtower IS NOT choosing to use the money, they're being FORCED to use the money to defend themselves in court. I am one that donates regularly to the World Wide Work and I would expect the Watchtower to defend themselves and not make some disgruntled Witness rich with our donations!

This information is odd to me. I was thinking that if someone donated shares of a company to me, I would immediately sell these shares to get the actual value of these. If the Watchtower actually owned these shares, wouldn't they just sell these off to use the money? Why keep shares of a company, these wouldn't be of any use, specially in the preaching work?
I do trade a few stocks here and there, but I don't really know how this "donation of shares" works. Has this been explored?
