Cause of Mass Shootings Mental Health?

i have been sad to see so many groups and individuals say that the cause of these events are the mental status of the shooters.

i have looked over the backgrounds of these shooters, and few had medically identified mental health issues.

it is too easy to think that people shoot or kill other people because they are mentally ill.. actually, many or most people with real mental illnesses are most likely to be the victims of others.. i have been a volunteer with the organization called nami (national alliance of mental lillness) for 25 years now.

Generally, speaking, any weapon can be characterized as an "assault" weapon if you injure someone.

But these guns that they're using now, like the one the guy had in Las Vegas to just lean out his window and take down dozens of people per minute, why does anyone need to own a weapon like that? Even the people who enjoy to go hunting, if they used a weapon like that, whatever animal they're hunting for would have like 60 bullet holes are something, that type of weapon is "overkill" for hunters. I think only if you're on the front line in Kabul or something should weapons like that be used.

Speaking of our current, remember a few times it has been said that she has a double? The pictures really didn't look like her to me either, the stand-in just stood their like she was told to, like she was frozen, didn't even move her head one tiny bit to the right or the let of her

Anyway, can you imagine ol' Bess or Mamie (Truman and Eisenhower for the younger generation) taking those nude shots like Melania? Hey maybe they did, but we'll never know, thank goodness

tiki - I thought I would be the only one to comment here who absolutely abhors Martha, every time I see her items in Macy's,whether it's a towel or frying pan, I will definitely buy someone elses products. She will never get a dime from me.

Hitting the fan: CD epidemic at my Hall

yesterday my congregation met for field service and the elder taking the lead did something not so smart: he brought up the child abuse situation and the recent news articles hitting local news across the country.

he said 'you can see that the persecution is really coming' and that we should be ready if someone complains about it at the door.

(funny how it's persecution when it's us and righteous judgment when it happens to the other churches.

neatbluedog - what that brother did was brilliant, warned them about the sex abuse scandals and with the typical JW pompous attitude blamed it on persecution, they started looking it up right there and nobody went out in field service that day, perfect!! Not the outcome bother pompous thought he was going to get that morning!

Walked away from bible study after 8 months

i have been working through the grey book with a married couple for several months.

actually after a while what happened was a different brother or sister got invited each week to my study.

i met lots and lots.

APieceofShitNameTate - You mention 60 Minutes, more than ten years ago, there was a story about the JWs on Dateline. I was hoping that would've brought all the things that they hide to front, but nothing happened, same with Leah Remini's show, thinking that the next day or so would be headlines of how the JWs mistreat and lie to their people, but nothing. I think Scientology and the Mormons get more press than the JWs

Well, at least this past week there have been stories about there sexual abuse that are coming, I see the post ahead of mines posted something from California news stations,I'm on the east coast in the New York area and our local station did a story about two former JWs that are now suing, so I guess this week must be file a suit agains the JWs if you were molested, that's a good thing !! I hope many more of those that were afraid to speak come forward too!

is this a bad joke or "fake news"?.

nbc new york is claiming "attorneys are expected on monday to announce the filing of lawsuits in king's county supreme court against eight members of the governing body of the jehovah's witnesses for alleged child sexual abuse claims.".

as soon as i got home this evening I saw the local news on wnbc, a live report in front of bethel too, as long as the word is getting out that they're no different than any other religion that's alright with me, I hope people start viewing them as pedos like a lot are thinking about the Catholic church now

So many times things are just twisted to give us a different perspective of the real reality.

So, as everyone knows, if you watch FOX, guess who you're thoroughly satisfied with as current POTUS, if you watch MSNBC,guess who you can't wait to be replaced in 2020.
