with so many khs closing and congos consolidating, what happens to the elders?
clearly there won't be a place for all of them.
would the older ones be the first to go, losing their long held positions of 'power'?.
Well... Older elders were admonished to start teaching the younger ones so that they could "retire." At least it happened in my congregation before I left—that is about four months ago.
for years theologians and historians have researched who the historical person known as jesus was and how much of the biblical account could be verified.
countless books have been written going into great detail.
this has been a controversial subject with some even claiming that jesus never existed.
Yeah... That article was really disappointing. You would've thought that Jehovah's Witnesses would be most eager to prove Jesus' existence, but in reality, they barely even scratched the surface. What really annoys me, though, is that Jehovah's Witnesses are all happy now because they think this is all the information needed to conclude whether Jesus existed. And when you try to explain to them that this article is not enough but is just too simple, they automatically call you a dangerous apostate who opposes the Governing Body. Their ignorance can at times get to you. They don't know how many facts they're missing, yet they claim to know everything about the subject.
By the way, I believe they also had one quote from a non-historian as evidence of Jesus' existence. It might have been Einstein or some other scientist. Basically, their argument was that since a smart atheist believed Jesus existed, he must have existed. The article was no doubt written by a fool with access to some type of mini-Wikipedia.
Edit: Just checked. It was Einstein's quote. And he wasn't an atheist but a pantheist.

Jehovah was too busy helping with the overlapping generations teaching. Sorry.
i remember a co saying from the platform, " people often say blood is thicker than water.
well not in jehovah's organization" i don't know about anyone else, but it sure rubbed me the wrong way and one of the million reasons why i left!.
I wish blood were always thicker than water, though.

utah jehovah’s witnesses church forced woman to listen to audio of her rape, lawsuit says.
a woman is suing a jehovah's witnesses church in weber county after, she says, one of its instructors repeatedly raped her when she was a minor and the organization's leadership forced her to listen to an audio recording of one of the assaults.. the woman filed the lawsuit wednesday in 2nd district court, accusing the kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses church in roy — as well as naming the alleged perpetrator, several church leaders and the watchtower bible and tract society (the religion's headquarters located in new york) — of knowingly allowing the "unfit" instructor to rise to a position of authority without warning members of his "dangerous propensities" and past sexual transgressions.. read more: http://www.sltrib.com/news/4465861-155/woman-sues-utah-jehovahs-witnesses-church.
recovering - A minor can not consent to sex by law?
Yup. Too bad they have their own screwed up law.

she explains the whole religion in a very funny way.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07x6mf3#play.
Yes, pale.emperor, my IQ is too low to recognise jokes.
By the way, I do wonder, too, whether any Jehovah's Witness heard that. I reckon many changed the radio station, thinking it was some kind of an apostate spreading lies.

Maybe it's the guy's fetish?
Anyway, I don't understand those elders. They should rot in jail along with the rapist.

If proven true... he better rot in jail. Hell, they should tie him up and starve him each day for hours. Too bad that'd be illegal.
Seriously... something has to be done about those religions that don't tolerate even the basic human rights.
so our congregation is full of hardliner elders, 3 of them, who are not gentle, kind or loving.. people have either moved away or quit trying because one elder inparticular was going to drive them crazy with all his rules and nit picking and being righteous over much.
(and he is pissed that he hasn't been accepted to the school.
hmmm, i wonder why!).
I've never seen elders like that in Canada. Huh.
