Yeah. My brother and my mother didn't want to believe Trump commanded the attack of Syria until they checked their sources. Whatever these are.

They think they're skeptics by rejecting a lot of information we have about Trump—such as his misogynistic and racist remarks. Even though we have recordings and actual proof of what he did, they think they're rational by suggesting there are explanations other than claiming that Trump said it. (Possibly like... it was faked?)

When it comes to whether it's a good thing that the USA attacked Syria... I'm afraid I don't know enough to have an opinion. What I'm interested to find out is what will happen between the left and the right now that it did happen. How many Americans will support it, how many will condemn it, and what will happen because of this disagreement? I wonder.

Was There ANYTHING Positive That You Experienced Because of Being a JW?

One of the Jehovah's Witnesses I knew in one of the congregations I attended invited me over to dinner every Saturday after service. It was a nice "tradition." He (let's call him Matt) said he thought of me as his younger brother. Even though he was 20–30 years older, we were quite close. It was probably because of our similar personalities. We both enjoyed learning, and we both had the same type of humor (everyone else, except for one other Jehovah's Witness (let's call him Ben) who was around 50 years older and who also was one of my closest friends―probably the closest despite the age difference―thought we were crazy.) Matt and I laughed all the time. And Ben? Hell, he acted like a 10-year-old (in a good way―he played jokes on everyone but never crossed the line) even though he was almost 70... If I ever loved any one of my friends, it was these two.

Needless to say, we don't talk anymore.

after primark, a clothing retailer in the uk and ireland, started selling certain the walking dead t-shirts, some customers complained that they are racist because of their slogan: "eeny, meeny, miny, moe.

" according to these customers, this counting rhyme (eeny, meeny, miny, moe, catch a tiger by the toe.

After Primark, a clothing retailer in the UK and Ireland, started selling certain The Walking Dead T-shirts, some customers complained that they are racist because of their slogan: "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe." According to these customers, this counting rhyme (Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, catch a tiger by the toe. If he hollers let him go [...]) originally included the N-word instead of the word "tiger," and hence these t-shirts should be considered offensive.

As Bill Maher put it, we live in a "pussy nation."

Anyone read the latest Awake (on the supernatural)?

just read some of this latest awake on the org's webshite.. it begins by talking about the 'supernatural' - wizards, witches, vampires, etc.

- their popularity and why they might appeal to people.

then it goes on to state the wt belief that someone is 'behind it'.. now, i like a few horror/scary films - when i was a kid, i always actually liked being a bit scared by them, tbh.. the silence of the lambs, a nightmare on elm street (1984), the ring, the witch, the thing (1982) and a few others are all great, imo.. they are just genres and subgenres of film, that's all.

The Ring is the best horror I've ever seen. No other movie scared me like this one. I saw it for the first time when I was about 11 or 12 (even though I shouldn't at that age!) It scared the hell out of me. After watching The Ring 2, I had to force myself to actually take a shower. The bathtub scene was too much for the young me. And the TVs... Oh, the TVs... Yup, no other movie scared me like The Ring.

I will only believe in demons if...

jws are known to have an obsession and preoccupation with demons.. this obsession and preoccupation is not without merit given that jesus, his disciples/apostles, and the general public of 1st century ce judea and galilee are reported as believing in the existence of demonic spirits and in the possibility of demon possession of an individual.. exorcism formed a large part of jesus' ministry on earth.

the gospels and the book of acts describe many exorcisms where jesus and his disciples release people from demonic possession.. ___ .

but how do demons get inside a person's brain or body?

Yeah... Even when I was a JW I was still very skeptical of the existence of demons―mostly because my friends from school didn't believe in them either. Just imagine being this awkward teenager who tells his friends about demons, and then they respond, "What century are you living in? What about mental illnesses? You're a moron."

So I never believed in this particular doctrine. But I was still very embarrassed about the fact that other JWs thought demonic possession was possible.

It's fascinating how the West is oblivious to what's going on in the Muslim world... You would've thought they'd figure out by now that the Muslims in the Middle East are killing apostates and forcing women to be submissive as we speak. But, no, it's not Islam. It's politics.

Morality Without Deity

one of the most persistent arguments for belief in god centres on the necessity of an ultimate law-giver and epitome of goodness.. a softer version is seen in the genuine concern that a loss of faith will result in a corresponding loss of a moral compass - a more strident argument links the existence of good and evil with proof of the reality of god.

it is often asserted that without god, moral decisions degenerate to nothing more than personal preferences and the victory of "might is right".. i want to succinctly lay out my response as an atheist, and show that a supreme being is not required for objective morality.. it is helpful to distinguish between absolute morality, objective morality and subjective morality.

christian apologists frequently conflate the first two, and secular debaters often fail to point out the difference.. theists who disagree on everything else, are unanimous that god is perfectly good.
