No thanks @Outlaw, I'd get a good paying job soon but not with your street corner sign but with a CV with an MSc included. And as much of you'd love to assume monopoly of hardwork, it's likely I've worked harder than you'll ever will in your lifetime. If you had read well before donning your hate and bias glasses maybe you'd have noticed I wasn't begging for your money. All you are doing is showing your self-righteousness alongside your snobbish acts. I wish you well in life and whether you help or you mock I'd be what I'd be. Thanks. -

I had decided at first to make light of all insults I had garner here, to try and understand that there will be a natural instinct towards disbelief especially because of my nationality. But, you guys did bring me to near tears with your responses I'd be frank. Even posters I enjoyed their posts a lot did showed their base side today.
I'd try to answer some of the more genuine questions or queries about authenticity, and what my request is really about:
@steve2: Yes, I am proud of my country and has never hidden my identity ever since I came on board this forum. I’ve even endeavored to reach out to people in my area on JWN. I have engaged in conversations that were disparaging about my country on this forum without grudge. I have talked about my country with posters here. I may be proud but I value my education highly so I don’t mind to “stoop to conquer”.
@DarioKehl, I’d ask you to go through my earlier post and see my discussions about my academics as far as three years back. Yes it can be googled but I didn’t. Telling my story is meant for verifiable purpose, but I guessed you missed that.
@Witness My Fury: Following your logic, my countrymen should hate all white people because they once came and rape our lands and some still do now. And yes on hindsight, not using a cloud service was costly but here the Internet isn’t as accessible everywhere as probably your own country so we rely on hard drives and flash drives as back up
@Village Idiot: I do not need your “penny”. I need someone who could help me start a crowdfund which I’m not asking anyone on JWN to contribute to. Someone who after a rigorous vetting, will believe in my story and decide to help.
@James Mixon: Most JWs don’t do charity, so let’s hope it ain’t that you kept that trait when you left. And yours and Outlaw “deals” might seem hilarious to you, but it shows how much empathy you guys truly have hiding behind your computer screens mocking a plea for help. Reminds me of Another Day in Paradise by Phil Collins. I may be a beggar but you are cowards.
@Onager, my situation is as it is. I know it’s not common but there ain’t no point claiming I’m thoroughly shunned when I’m not. No need to lie about it.
@WingCommander, yes I have an android phone and I get to borrow my girlfriend’s laptop for a few hours sometimes. So I hope that answers your doubt.
I reiterate, what I want is someone who can give the benefit of doubt to choose to help start a crowdfund. This will be done only after such person is satisfied that the story is genuine and claims are sincere. If you can’t help me at least please don’t hurt me more, PLEASE!
It’s a shame it had to come to begging but I SHALL have my Masters degree! Thanks!

Hi, everyone. I'm in dire need of assitance, and I have decided to humbly come here...
First, let me reintroduce myself. My name is Kolabomi, a Nigerian and a proud one too. I am a graduate student in one of my country's leading university. I am presently studying Theoretical Physics and I'm working on a thesis about the quantum phase transitions in the XY model with next nearest neighbour interactions (frustrations). I write poems, some of which can be read online by googling my name. I am also a former JW.
I got disfellowshipped late 2012. I just started my MSc program then, and it really took a toll. My immediate family members, almost all of the extended family, my close friends were all dedicated JWs, so naturally I lost a lot of friends' and family's moral and financial support. My parents tho' continued to support financially, but it was meagre since they weren't on the up side too. I augmented by taking tutorials and laboratory attendant jobs for undergraduate students.
Coping emotionally tho' was more challenging. JWN really helped me get along, and my parents who always looked disappointed and bewildered on how I went from Bethel poster kid to a " Facebook apostate" still tried to help me cope in every way possible. Yet I found it difficult to cope not just with me losing friends but with my mum losing many of hers too because she stood by her son. She really did look so haggard that the only times I felt regret was when I saw the shell she had become. It really was saddening! I also lost the girl I've been dating for the past five years, and that loss was really debilitating. I loved her dearly!
Unfortunately, all these did get under my skin. My grades aggregate dropped from the 80s to 60s. And I slowed down drastically on my project. I actually had to change my focus from Bose-Einstein Condensates and bosons to spin-particles 'cause of relative simplicity. Depression really set in, and I became insular. Activities on social media, JWN and the internet generally dropped to near non-existent. I often stayed in my dorm room for a whole week without going out, and the most likely question I got asked by colleagues was, "Did you travel?" For a while, I only breathe and ate and slept.
Late last year, I decided to try seat up. I upped my social media activities, became politically active, made new friends, got a lovely girlfriend and gave my thesis more effort. I really improved the quality of my life. My academics got back on track, I decided to take extra courses so I could finish with a distinction and I achieved it. I became proud of myself again. A few of my JW relatives and friends too had thawed and were on civil if not friendly terms.
Everything seemed on course until quite recently. I had gone to a political rally for the just concluded presidential elections in Lagos on March 23, I took along my laptop, my external hard drive which serves as my backup and notes on my project in hopes of working on my thesis after I returned from the campaign but alas, in the hustle and bustle I lost the bag containing my laptop and all! I was devastated as everything about my thesis were contained in it. I have so far tried all means possible to appeal for the return of it, with my parents going to radio stations to plea with those who stole it to return it even if for a financial recompense with the guaranty of no police harassment but all to no avail.
My final defense seminar was a week away, I tried starting all over but writing codes for fermions with Maple and Mathematica isn't something one can easily get done in a week even with so much support of colleagues. So, essentially, I missed the deadline. My studentship is also due to be terminated this semester ending second week of May.
The PG College board sat and decided that due to the unfortunate circumstances, it could allow a transfer of my studentship into that of a new entrant come next session. This means that my grades from my coursework will be retained while I will have to pick an entirely new topic for my thesis as the College already has an entry for my present thesis (of course, by me!). That is, due to bureaucratic red tapes I'd have to pick a new thesis.
Now, here's why I have gone these lengths to explain my predicament: The new session begins early June, and I do not have money to pay for the acceptance fee and tuition fees. I also need to buy a new laptop for my computations. I have tried all means within my abilities to raise the money but I haven't succeeded yet. Someone suggested crowdfunding and while I do have some reservations to that, it seems to be one of the few choices I have left to salvage my studies.
I have tried to start up a fund myself but limitations include my country not being supported on many websites and the unfortunate image my country has for internet fraud which could deter donors. I have come to appeal on this board to see if anyone could start one on my behalf. Please, if anyone could, I will appreciate much. If interested, do send me a PM so I can show proof, and supply details.
Thanks.

I checked out the JW guy as he's my countryman, and guess what?! He "likes" porn models! LOLLEST. I only hope Bree Olson doesn't get destroyed with you apostates, it would be such a pity for Chijioke if she doesn't make Paradise!

Why Do Some People Still Disagree With Special Relativity?
by DT ini have to admit that i feel poorly equipped to address this subject.
i'm more interested in the feedback of others than in trying to persuade others of my opinions.
i should also point out that although this topic is specifically about special relativity, much of what is said could also apply to general relativity.. special relativity has had a profound effect on both science and modern culture.

Personally, I think a lot of persons do have problems grappling with the "spacetime" coordinates. They have been acclimatised mentally to the Cartesian coordinates with the time component an the independent variables which the space components depend on. They see time and space as different components and not as a fourvector. And the funny thing about most religious (especially Christian) scientists is, you have to believe in the theory of Special Relativity if you do wish to explain how God knows things ahead of time and other stuff like it. Yet they are hard-bent on not understanding it because to me they seem to think that part is the preserve of "God", at least according to one of my fundamentalist lecturers. I always joke that, since people could hardly think even at pace with a snail, how in the world would you expect them to think at the speed of light which is what is expected to understand the SRT?! Heck, a lot of people still grapple with GRT!

A JW sitcom?
by Island Man inhas anyone ever thought of creating a jw sitcom?
i mean, there's enough humor and drama in jw culture to keep audiences entertained for multiple seasons.
we have judicial committees, c.o.

Jay's Wit: about guy named Jay who always try to outwit his elder brother named Elder.
The Witlesses: about a JW family who have a poor sense of humor. They do dumb things, and people laugh at them and they'd always end the scene with, "Persecution!(sighs)"
The Time is 19:14: a man always having comical apocalyptic dreams and always waking up at 19:14 am!
etc

Who is easier to indoctrinate, men or women?
by kneehighmiah infrom purely anecdotal evidence, i believe women are more indoctrinated on average.
i can openly disagree with the governing body with men and it results in a discussion however, most women i've talked to have immediately shut me down by ending the conversation.
the only person currently shunning me is a woman.

Once, the branch office once wrote a letter to us to reach out to more men in the field ministry as there were more women than men in the congos and men should be the ones with the privileges. Well, our sisters here in Nigeria did try their best, and there was an explosion in the male intake, only they came as babies! LOL!! Well, my opinion is, in many societies, women are still more repressed and are less educated, thus more gullible. Also, many women have been dealing with cognitive dissonance almost all their lives especially being told that men are natural and scriptural heads when they can see otherwise as leadership qualities is not gender selective. So, coping with CD in religion comes easier for them, they are taught from birth to deny the obvious more than men.
