  Society Ditches Older Publications

  it has been reported that many of the older publications are being dumped.

  the watchtower bible and truck society have a long list of books, pamphlets and brochures that are no longer available either in print or in their data base on their web sight.

  of course the reason is that this books have a lot of old information that is incorrect, false prophecies, flip flops and a lot of "new light" that became old light.

  There is no longer a library at all in either of the two khs in my town. Not a single Bible or Dictionary for common use. Just what JW library has to dish out online.

  just finished watching the talk by tony morris on john cedars channel.

  sounded to me that he was hedging his bets.

  on the one hand he says "this is it" and out of the other he says prophecies are best understood after they are fulfilled.

  Tony didn't seem very convinced himself. "We prayed about it and 2/3 of us concluded that Russia is king of the north. Then I was picked as the sucker to announce our collective conclusion. Did I mention we prayed about it?".

  Small Field Service Groups, Method of Control?

  okay, so our congregation announced that saturdays they would be switching to small fs groups.

  i found that odd because our kh is central to the territory and easy for most to get to.

  through talking with others i found out that this is a branch wide directive that has little to do with convenience for the bros and sisters.

  This is an effective way to exert peer pressure. Each Saturday the group members make a mental attendance record. Since there were 8 out, that means 7 were missing. Let's see, who was missing? Brother and Sister Lazy must have slept in again. The Travel family must be on another lavish vacation. And Brother and Sister Materialistic must have taken on extra work again.

  rumour has it that all of europe received the translation yesterday, because gerrit lösch visited the european branch in selters (germany).

  The downfall of the Governing Body

  in a book i read a while back by the sociologist randall collins he says truly powerful people don't get angry because they get what they want in other ways, and he shows a picture of two runners where the one who's losing looks at the girl that passes her rather than ahead at the finish line, guess she doesn't wanna win the race after all.

  i want to apply these to the governing body and their actions, the pattern of their actions, in printing all the hateful rhetoric against people like us and why l'm pretty sure, pretty damn confident in fact, it's all downhill from here... thanks to them and them alone.. the moment you let somebody get in your head and let them stay there they beat you, they win, they establish power, we got in their heads, they know we present a threat to them, we won't shut up, we're more brazen than we used to be, we're in the news, we're on tv, we're online we're at conventions we're in the kingdom halls, hell we're just about everywhere.

  yeah, we don't have this completely down yet, sometimes we come on too strong or do something stupid, and i'm pointing the finger at myself here too, but for the most part we know how to fight this battle: we drag them into the light when they wanna hide in the dark like jackals lurking in the woods sneaking up on weak and wounded deer.

  Nice op. I also believe the GB is unnerved and in defensive mode, if not already in retreat. Each publisher who stops reporting time, each person who stops donating represents a defeat for them. And each assembly with no one baptized is a huge embarrassment. Each time they credit apostates on their TV show and print the word in their literature is an admission of defeat.

  Is attendance down in your location too?

  i was commenting on another thread about how local kh attendance is down.

  memorial attendance was also way down and the circuit assembly had hundreds less people than what is typical.

  my jw family has even mentioned it.

  Yes, attendance is down. The local congregation had 184 publishers 20 years ago. It is now down to 125. Meeting attendance is about 90 on Sunday, including phone-ins. The neighboring congregation has always had more publishers, now down to 180. They have about 90 on Sundays, plus about 30 who phone in, totaling about 120. Last Thursday they had 105, including phone-ins. But on Saturday they had 111 at their meeting for field service, doubtless many of which were ghost publishers. I don’t know how many actually went out to preach, but I heard the field service meeting was at 10am and it took until 11am to leave the parking lot. They had advertised heavily for a month that EVERYONE should be there - the entire congregation. There are three large clans over there, so you can imagine there was a lot of arm twisting the past couple of weeks.

  i had two episodes of visiting exjw websites:one time around 2007 when i just googled "jehovah´s witnesses" and dared to look at those sites.

  i was scared and i promised myself i would never come back to them.

  however, that one didn´t really count.the moment that woke me up was this:i got to know that whitney heichel was a jw and murdered by another jw, because i overheard that conversation in a kingdom hall.i looked up the news and in one of the news comments, there was one where an exjw was complaining that they were hijacking her funeral and they were really trying to downplay the fact that her murderer was a jw... and then it said "visit jwfacts.com"... which i did.and the rest... is history.what exactly got you onto an apostate website when you woke up?

  I came here first, looking for an electronic copy of Shepherd the Flock book. I was burnt out and needed to get off the elder hamster wheel, but knew I needed a copy of the secret rule book in order to protect my family. While I was here I read Simon's and Farkel's stories and could clearly see myself leaving completely. Before that I could not imagine being anything but a zealous witness. Later, the TPT tirade really woke me up and then I dove into jwfacts and read CoC.

  How many JW´s spend their whole lives being JW´s?

  ever since i became an exjw activist... i have wondered, how many people can i hope to reach?.

  what are the odds that my parents and loved ones will live out the remainder of their lives as jehovah´s witnesses?.

  is there a way to calculate the odds that any jw will remain a jw for the rest of their lives?.

  From my experience, it's more likely for an adult convert to stay in until they die, probably over half. Born ins and children indoctrinated from a young age less than 30%. I have no hard data to support it, but that's base on the people I know in the US. Lately I've seen some converts leave within a couple of years once the love bombing stops they wake up to the insanity of being a "mature witness".

  i thank all of you for the warm welcome and having read my bio.

  i look forward to many discussions and hopefully in the future to be able to be open about it with my wife and kids.

  Watchtower accountants and lawyers go to great lengths to keep the finances secret. But there are a few tidbits that have been made public. The following article from Watchtower gives a glimpse into the finances in the 1930s. I suspect large donations and inheritances make up a large chunk of their income. And Watchtower is heavily invested in real estate, holding title to about 40,000 properties, mainly KHs and property left in wills. But good luck finding documentation. We can only speculate on much of their finances, as I have done here. A recent leaked video of their accountants mentions that they are trying to sell 3,000 of their properties.

  What is the current pulse in the organization with the reductions?

  i have not seen jehovah’s witnesses in my neighborhood for several years now.

  it appears that the cart witnessing has taken over.

  congregations are being consolidated and witnesses are being forced to travel a greater distance than before.the burdens/privileges of elders seem to be ever increasing!.

  There are still some zealots in my area. Some Pioneer Elders, Pioneer Elder Wives, and my Wife. The majority are social witnesses.
