I never said YOU lived a double life. Just many jdubs do. Your posts make me think of people who do.

I think we all know Jdubs like this. They are out there everywhere. Getting away with the little things. Let them. Geesh, I dont know how people can do the double life thing. Didn't work for me. I'd rather be completely myself than try to look good on both sides of the fence. Screw that. [>:(]

The Jdubs that I dislike the most are the ones that live double lives that brag about being able to get away with it. While most slave for the organization with black and white, they get away with GREY. They can have their cake and eat it too. They consider themselves better because they can get away with having a personality, yet still be a jdub. I think many who think this way look down on others even in their own congregations, as following sheep. Why? Because they are unique and can think apart. What? Think apart? Would that not be independent thinking? Or wait, would that not be hypocrisy?
Hmmmmmmmmm.
Sad really....

Post WTBTS Life
by Angst ini have been inactive for about three and a half years now and just recently after making some big changes in my life have i made a commitment not to return to the "organization".
for quite awhile now i've just felt like i was apathetic towards religion.
now i'm disgusted by religion, religious dogma, and fanaticism.. one thing that i've noticed in those i deal with that are ex-witnesses is that many tend to swing the exact opposite direction once they leave.

Angst,
Everyone needs to make their own decisions in life. As a JW most of us did not have any choices. There was one way, or Satan's way.
Not every ex-jw who leaves becomes "immoral". In fact, most of them that I know live similar lives as they did before, they just are no longer JWs. I dont know where you get the idea that most people go crazy with sex, drugs, and "bad" things when they leave. Just because you might still think celebrating holidays is "wrong" does not mean it's true. Many ex-JWs are no longer religious and "celebrate" the holidays for family purposes. Everyone must do what they feel is right for themselves. Just because someone doesn't do it the way you do it, doesn't mean it's wrong.
Getting past the judgementalism is the hardest part. If the JWs did anything for me it was to make me very accepting of people in their place in life. It's called tollerance and acceptance.
Good luck in figuring things out.

ARoarer,
As an adult, I do look back on my childhood. It was a hard time. My mother was very leniant with me also. So this story is not completely 100% true. I was allowed to have some worldly friends. And my mom was so good to me, and treated me very well. I know that she felt bad about me not being like the other kids. I remember coming home from school in tears all the way up to high school even, because I hated being so different. She really felt for me.
All I can say is that I know she was doing what she thought was right. How can I blame her for that? I don't blame her for that. She is out of the JWs too, and I have had some heart to heart discussions with her. She has cried to me and told me she was sorry for raising us this way. All that I could say to her was that I would not have it any different! She thought it was the truth. I am who I am because of my childhood and my formative years. Yes, it was hard. But it's given me some character. It's given me some strength. It's taken me a long time to realize all of that. But I thank my mom for doing what she thought was the right thing. For giving us the ability to think differently. I am not angry at her for any of this.
Dont take it on yourself. Everyone is who they are from their trials and tribluations in life. It's not always a bad thing. You were doing what you thought best. We always have today to do the things we didnt get to do as children. I am loving my life now. And I love my mom very much. I'm sure your children love you too.
Happiness to you,

For anyone who wants to know:
1) I'm going to be 29 in November.
2) I have lived in four houses in California all of my life, and all within a ten mile radius of each other (talk about sheltered).
3) I'm so tired of being sheltered, that I'm quitting my job and moving to Hawaii in January to go and enjoy my life, be a beach bum and wait tables for awhile.
4) I'm divorced and I have no children. I was married for five years.
5) My parents are married 31 years and they are actually truly still in love! (No longer JDubs either, thank goodness).
6) I still dont know what I want to be when I grow up. (I think that was an effect of being raised a JDub, not allowed really to have a "passion" other than the religion)
7) I have two jobs right now. My day job is extreemly boring but it gives me plenty of time to be on this board. My other job is waiting tables, and it's very fun! (Not what I want to do when I grow up, but perfect for me right now)
8) I love to travel and want to see the world.
9) I love to read, and although I am agnostic, I want to study religion.
10) I have always been a very shy person, and I'm coming out of that phase of my life. Watch out world!

Can you be DF'd for obesity?
by cosmo inif jw's can be(or should i say are) df'd for smoking, why aren't people df'd for obesity.. it seems they say that you are violating your body and hurting it from smoking but i've never seen a person live over the age of 80 that was obese.
just seems like being obese is worse than smoking.

Ok this story was sick enough. Did you read the replies that a few people wrote in response to the story???????!!!!!!! Someone says:
That was very intersting, I passed along to several people, it's good to stimulate our hope for the future!
THE IMPORTANT THING IS . . . MAKE SURE YOU ARE A SURVIVOR!Another says:
LOVED THIS STORY!!!
It made me think though.I am at work and was looking around at my co-workers and suddenly realized that I have to witness more to them or it will be their bodies I find dead.
A good reminder for us all!
And yet another says:
Thank you for this story. I feel so encouraged! less sad and blue...
WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE WHO FIND THIS STORY HAPPY AND ENCOURAGING????? YUCK!
