I don't know about others here, but I'm White, and find all these ethnic slurs very offensive. I've never heard another White use them as a term of endearment for another ethnicity. When I hear it, I automatically label that White a racist on some level. If it doesn't bother you, fine, but I think that some here would agree with me, and I don't think that makes me a Social Justice Warrior.

Rebel fighter. Yes there are laws in place to keep people from hiring illegal immigrants, but they seem to be pretty piss poor, considering all the undocumented workers in this country. As you said, Trump is a pretty smart guy. You don't think he has dozens of ways to hide illegal hiring? We can't even see his tax returns. As for the rest, very few ever face jail time (Google it). They pay fines that are a drop in the bucket, $1,500,000 sounds like lot, but it's spare change to a big corporation. Probably the hardest hit would be small employers, and they often get probation.
Jehalepeno. Why don't you just come out and say you think that any person who commits any type of crime is a scumbucket . It's obvious that you don't care how large or small the crime is. Buckets won't care, and no one will get mad. An added plus will be that you can apply it to any race ,ethnicity, or religion. It's a win all around.

Simon. Not to be flippant, but by sending jobs to Mexico, aren't we employing people who might otherwise try to come here? Short of guaranteeing that all jobs must be filled by native or legal residents, and levying severe fines and jail time to those who hire illegals, workers will continue to come to the US.
The refugees are a separate situation, we can try vetting them all, but I don't know if this country could afford the cost of adequately screening everyone claiming asylum. Unless we achieve equity in jobs and civil rights in the poorer nations, I can't see any real solution to this problem.
I see in the news today that another Republican now wants to severely cut the number of legal immigrants to this country. So, will this solve the problem? I doubt it. It will make some people happy, but that's about it.
I guess we're left with the xenophobic option, just close the borders completely, and if everything goes to hell, we can try something else. At least it will shut up the alt-right, which is not such a bad thing.

2017 Circuit Assembly: Lesbians at school demonstration
by darkspilver insteve2: is there some way this can be presented so that it is crystal clear what was actually in the demonstrations and what was added?
i guess some will think it should be obvious - but this is where misunderstandings arise because we end up wrongly attributing something to jw organization that was never said.. circuit assembly theme: maintain love for jehovah!.
note to speaker: warmly encourage young ones to prove their friendship with jehovah by observing his commandments and defending his standards.

Most of the single heterosexuals in the congregations I've been in aren't single by choice. Either they're old, no one will have them, there aren't enough men to go around, or the men there are losers. This happens with women too, but not as often, given the male to female ratio.

Simon. I'm all for higher wages, but people have to realize that they'll likely have to pay more for goods and services. I'm willing to, but is everyone else? There'll be a lot of whining when people can't afford their "Made in the USA" 72 inch flat screen TVs. Not to mention $2 heads of lettuce.

Until people stop illegally hiring them, they'll keep coming, legal or not. Why do I not see any outrage about the scumbags who exploit these people? They're the ones who are taking away jobs from legal residents and citizens.

Raziel. Thanks for the clarification. I think the kind of weapon I'm thinking of is the type that allows a high rate of fire without having to reload. You can still pump out a lot of bullets with a large magazine, even if you only shoot one at a time.

A lot of the arguments here are about jobs and safety. Isn't the point of immigration letting people into the country who will become a part of the work force and become productive members of society? If we're truly trying to save jobs, we should not allow any immigration, and truly enforce the penalties for hiring illegal workers. I'd love to see patriotic Americans out working in the fields on a hot summer day for peanuts. If we want to save jobs, lets not import anything, and completely close the borders. That should also take care of terrorism. Anything else won't be 100% effective. How else to stem the flood of criminals and terrorists?
What would make us safer, a ban on immigrants, or a ban on military grade weapons? I think gun ownership is fine, but no one needs an automatic weapon to hunt or target shoot. I'd feel safer with less guns than less immigrants. It's just plain stupid to worry about being killed by terrorists when there are so many more dangerous things all around us.
Is it worse for 1 American to be killed by a terrorist, or 10,000 by US citizens? If you think so, than you're totally irrational. It has nothing to do with bigots or racists, though it doesn't take a genius to realize that some defenders of the ban are (Notice that I said some, not all, and they know who they are).
Common sense says that walls and bans are a simplistic, relatively ineffective solution to the problems we face. And once again, I'm not saying that there aren't dangers out there, but why can't we just put them into perspective, rather than have knee jerk reactions to everything.

cutting ads that question trumps bigoted wall, yet allowing a cult ad in.

What I've not heard from anyone on this or any other threads is what exactly is "extreme vetting"? Is this just another slogan like "repeal Obamacare"? In 90 days are we going to hear that they haven't figured out what to do yet?
This administration is big on getting things done, but have no idea HOW to get things done! Let's hear a shred of evidence that there is a plan, and maybe people will back it. From what I've read, Trump is rubber stamping Bannon's ideas without even considering the ramifications.
We still have no idea how to pay for the wall, let alone what to do about the ACA. Why don't we tackle one problem at a time? I hardly think we're in danger of of a nuke going off in New York, or another major city in the next month or so.

Simon. I understand your point, but if I thought there was a way to give my children a better life, or protect their lives by going somewhere else, I wouldn't worry too much about the legality of it. At least, I hope I would have the courage to do it.
