  Spoletta - you are attacking a strawman. Nobody here thinks that all Muslims are bad. Everyone agrees that there are lots of Muslims who make great neighbors.

  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall the sentiment in many posts that anyone who is a true Muslim condones the terrorist activities because the Koran instructs them to do so.

  I think you'll find many here that would not welcome Muslims as neighbors.

  Since you raised Hitler, consider that the threat from the Third Reich was not about one man. Millions of Germans fully bought into the ideology that they were a special race and non-Aryans were worth less than they were.

  Sadly, an attitude that is gaining popularity among the conservatives of today.

  Islam is a problem because millions of conservative Muslims believe that non-Muslims are kaffir That makes them very bad guests in our countries.

  So how do you determine which Muslims are conservative? Do you put a box on the visa application that asks if they consider non-Muslims to be kafir (the correct spelling when referring to unbelievers)? I'm sure that will work.

  Those who reject that worldview are very welcome.

  Great idea! We'll just ask applicants if they intend to become jihadi terrorists after they enter our countries.That should weed out the bad ones.

  i realize that someone well on in years would think twice about it, but, what about you younger ones?

  They know that equipment can be purchased or donated when it is usefull, so avoid the cost of storing or moving equipment to where it is needed. If there was an abundance of projects, it would make sense to keep tools. If only needed occasionally, it makes sense to sell tools and buy in the vicinity they're needed

  If you want to know what good Hillary has done, all you have to do is look at her bio from the moment she left college. She has always pursued an agenda of helping people, particularly women and children. She has actively championed women's rights in oppressed countries.The Clinton Foundation has the highest rating among world wide charities, and despite the outright lies and half truths about it, spends over 90% of money raised in charitable works. It is a fact that whenever she has been in Office, she has commanded respect from those she works with.

  I know that these points are wasted on most of the right, because they choose to inflate any of her mistakes into national scandals. I've followed the Clintons since they first came onto the major political scene, and recognize their failings, as I recognize the failings of all our politicians. I firmly believe, however , that she has been unfairly demonized by the right, because she stands for principles that are anathema to the Republican party.

  Please don't bother listing all your talking points(Benghazi,uranium,Emails, Bernie Sanders, Podesta, predator Bill enabler, Wall Street speeches, etc.), I've done my research using all sources, including those I find abhorrent, and find her no worse than many other politicians, and better than most.

  Sometimes people do the right thing for the wrong reasons. Let's see if Trump can come up with a cogent plan to deal with Assad that doesn't give the impression of a knee jerk reaction.Time will tell whether this is part of a broader plan or an attempt to raise sagging poll numbers.

  welcome to canada from one immigrant to another !.

  calgary is welcoming it's first refugees from syria and iraq so tomorrow i'm going to take all the winter clothing that we have and donate it to a women / children's charity.

  it's not much (well, actually, it's a huge pile ... everything from when we first moved over!

  Simon: I agree with a lot of what you've said here. The problem is that the vetting process is too slow. I can't believe that if the the various NATO nations put their resources to work we couldn't invest in the creation of some sort of international agency with the manpower to speed up the process.

  Also, as has been pointed out, I'm sure most refugees would prefer to stay in their country if it were safe to be there. We should be focusing on providing areas of safety with clean, well run temporary camps where refugees can be housed in dignity until it's safe to go home.Most camps are a disgrace, due to underfunding and lack of resources and personnel. What better way way to create a whole generation resenting the Western countries that allow them to live in such squalor. Does it really matter that it's not our fault that they're in that situation? How many people could be helped for the cost of 59 cruise missiles.

  After World War Two, there were agreements made between nations to avoid refugee problems exactly like we're seeing today. Unfortunately, they're being ignored. If the refugees could be taken in by all counties proportional to their populations, we wouldn't have the overwhelming numbers in Germany and other welcoming countries.

  Let's get innocent civilians out of the danger zones, and let the idiot armies and warlords duke it out, but also make a meaningful effort to help the innocents.

  It's useless because I have the facts on my side.

  You're absolutely right, You have all the facts that agree with your position, and you just ignore or deride any facts that don't go along with them. The point is, two sets of facts can exist alongside each other. One set can be about the horrible acts of Terrorist Muslims, and another can be about the wonderful things that some other Muslim does.

  I haven't figured out how to post links, but if you'll Google Mohamed Bzeek Muslim, you'll find out about a Libyan Muslim in the US who has devoted his life to foster parenting terminally ill children. Ten have died in his arms. To paraphrase him,"I am a human being, we are all human beings".

  I acknowledge both the good and bad in the Muslim community. I figure there's enough condemnation in posts like these that I don't feel the need to pile on more. Luckily, I find that there are others in this forum that also see that there are two sides to the Muslim story. To my way of thinking, that's a truer picture of the reality of any group

  Hitler was a monster, but you could make him look like a saint if you only listed the good things he did in his life.

  No, I'm upset that the lives of those killed in London and Stockholm are evidently worth more than those in Syria whose deaths were just as random and senseless, just because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. I condemn both acts.
