I just watched it last night. Not your average horror flick. It goes in directions that completely fooled me till the very end. The cast was terrific, especially Toni Collette (one of my favorite actresses). Great attention to detail, and truly chilling

Is Being a “Manly Man” a Bad Thing?
by minimus inso much is said regarding men , in a negative way.
shaving commercials are now lecturing us as to how bad we really are.
men should be less masculine.

Considering the odds, I'd be an idiot to worry about such things.

What Are Your Rights?
by Simon inrights seem to be everywhere nowadays.
say hello to someone in the wrong way and you've violated 101 of their human rights.
people imagine they have the right to all sorts of things - food, healthcare, housing, internet ... so many things are labelled basic rights and then you get onto their human rights - a favourite of the do-nothing bodies such as the un to declare.

I hope that all the complainers about the Gillette commercial are in their dotage. If you're in your 20's to 40's, you're going. to be very unhappy the next few years, as the world moves further into the 21st century, and women and minorities (both racially and sexually) take their place as your true equals, or even superiors

Having reached retirement age, I have more free time to visit with my 87 year old mother. She was raised in the Assembly of God church, and actually had it worse than the Witnesses do today. No movies, no dancing, only religious music allowed in the home.
She and I have had many talks, and believe that if there is a Supreme being, He (or she) certainly couldn't be a conflicted, schizophrenic, irrational being, demanding to be worshipped by those that they supposedly love.
We've come to the conclusion that death is either the cessation of conscious thought (not really scary if you think it out), or some sort of existence as a conscious being, which would certainly be a big bonus, but either way, not something to worry about, or dwell on.
Death is much harder on the living, who mourn those who have died

White supremacy is an ideology of peace
by OneEyedJoe ini'm tired of hearing these constant attacks on white supremacists after the events in charlottesville.
why are moderate white supremacists being lumped in together and sharing the blame for the actions of one reprehensible man that misinterpreted the ideals of white supremacy and became violent?
clearly the motivation of such attacks on white supremacists is nothing other than racism.

Manager of Aparthaus Paradies Swiss Hotel now apologizes for posting signs demanding of “Jewish guests” to shower before entering pool.
by oppostate inswitzerland condemns racism, anti-semitism and discrimination in any form, a spokesman for the government said on tuesday, as a row with israel over a hotel sign telling jewish guests to shower before using the pool showed no sign of abating.the swiss statement came after the jewish state lodged official complaints about aparthaus paradies in the alpine resort village of arosa and signs it posted telling jewish guests to shower before using the swimming pool and restricted their access to a kitchen freezer.the hotel quickly apologized and removed the signage after a public backlash.the prominent jewish rights group, the simon wiesenthal centre, published a letter tuesday demanding that switzerland “close the hotel of hate and penalise its management.” it also called on booking.com to remove the hotel from its directory “and explain the anti-semitic cause of the removal on your website.”the centre’s head of international relations shimon samuels, pointed out that “the reference to ‘showers’ can be construed as a patently vicious reference to the fake shower hands in the gas chambers.”.
"to our jewish guests women, men and children please take a shower before you go swimming and although after swimming.
if you break the rules , i'm forced to cloes the swimming pool for you.

Don't be eager to take offence. Don't be eager to take offence on behalf of other people.
Simon, I agree that we shouldn't be eager to take offence, but should the Jewish guests have waited a while and tried to figure out the motivation of the manager before being offended by the signs?
The woman may have indeed posted the signs innocently, not thinking how they would have been perceived, but we'll never truly know.
So, I will admit that neither I nor anyone can know what goes on in another's mind.
But we can have opinions about it.

Watchtower's unscriptual boasting about works
by Diogenesister innothing big here, just a little musing on this scripture at ephesians 2.8-9 that definately states that only faith saves, not works, in case men start to boast about their amazing works.
"8for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of god, 9not of works, that no one would boast.
well my word, i would definately say witnesses *do nothing but boast*, especially now on jw broadcast.

If the Witnesses were truly as wonderful as they imagine, the world would take notice. The absence of any meaningful contribution to alleviate suffering in the world says all you need to know.
