Where were you in 1975?
by dins ini have a vivid memory of 1975 even though i was only 6 years old.
i remember the whispers and the fervor surrounding the year.
i even had an uncle who marked his calendar every day with big red xs proclaiming that he couldn't wait for "this evil system of things to end.".

WHY
by Legendary U.2.K. inwhy do almost 70% of the members who post here, put down the witness?
i'm not a witness and i dont wanna be one, but whatever the witness did to y'all, just put whatever in the pass, and look towards god's promises, and also look forward to christ promises, and remember that, aint nobody perfect, because we all is imperfect & full of sin...... .
thanks!

Umm... isn't the name of this board "jehovah's witness discussion"? Am I right? If so shouldn't we be talking about JW related stuff? And if we don't like certain aspects of JWism shouldn't we discuss it here on the :"jehovah's witness discussion" board? If I'm misunderstanding something please let me know.

WT at it again...cross or stake?
by dungbeetle injust found this on the watchtower website:.
http://www.watchtower.org/library/rq/index.htm?article=article_11.htm.
cross: jesus did not die on a cross.

I just wonder why people wear crosses on their necklaces. If guns were around and he had been shot with a gun, would people wear those around their necks?

no disfellowship for inactive?
by jaccilynn inmy mother was having a moment while she went to visit a friend a few weeks ago, worrying about me being disfellowshiped and having our relationship change.
the sister told my mom, that i could not be disfellowshiped because i am not an active memeber of the congregation.
supposedly, her daughter was a full time pioneer, stopped attending meetings, and realized that she is a lesbian.

Jacilynn-
I have a friend who is still a JW (but inactive) and he got a girl pregnant which is common knowlegde because his father was an elder before he died, so the pregnancy was no secret. His entire family (mom, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents) are all in good standing and he regularly associates with all of them. He even moved back in with his mom along with the girl that he got pregnant, and still he never got disfellowshipped. So I believe that you won't be df'd.

Dateline discussed openly in our congregation
by TheMatrix inyesterday, the presiding overseer (elder h) read the letter from the christian congregation of jehovahs witnesses (us branch) regarding their policy on child abuse.
all scriptures were also looked up and read.. elder h is a very prepared brother.
he is a gilead graduate and served as a missionary for about 7 years in kenya before coming home because of illness.

First, I must say that I enjoy your posts. Lots of people get really offended when you disagree with them but I appreciate a different side as long as they are intelligent. Umm, you said that I should try loving the JWs. Well I said I hated THINGS about JWs, not the entire orgfanization and all of it's people. Afterall my parents are still witnesses and I love them. But certain things about the org. I do hate. Ex: shunning family, losing lives due to "the blood issue", false prophesying, no female elders, etc.
I also disagree that hate can tear you apart. I think a little hate now and then is good for the soul
