Jehovah's Witnesses - People of Integrity
by Saved_JW inwhen i think of integrity, a lot of positive connotations come to mind.
i think of individuals grounded in principles, who do not operate on opinions that change based on the breeze of political or social change.
a life that is directed by a code of morality, not on capricious emotions.

JWs are no different that the what they call worldly people, the majority are good but they have some rotten ones. I was witness to a case where an account overseer stole about $32,000.00 from a construction fund by falsifying the records.
He was DF but the money was never recovered.

Did you participate in a Drama?
by Hecce ini am bringing this up because even it was a lot of work, for the majority of the friends this was a rewarding experience.
camaraderie, joking, costumes, props and when the time came the celebrity status of being in the drama.. back in the 50s and 60s, conventions could be as long as 8 days and from about 1966 the dramas became an integral part of the program.
we had one per day and the brothers looked forward to their presentation.

One thing that happened a lot during the dramas were mistakes, most of the time the participants were aware of them, but not the audience . Some other mistakes were plain and simple to see, like having an actor wearing glasses or a watch on a biblical drama. -

It seems like the dramas were too much fun for the audience and also the participants. We can't have that here, better to use that time digging trenches and building KH.

I think that the drama that you are referring as Exodus and the Zimri one is the same that I am calling the Moses drama.
My experience was the different, one of the few places where it felt like everybody was equal and you could laugh at the mistakes and gaffes of even the heavy duty guys.

I am bringing this up because even it was a lot of work, for the majority of the friends this was a rewarding experience. Camaraderie, joking, costumes, props and when the time came the celebrity status of being in the drama.
Back in the 50s and 60s, conventions could be as long as 8 days and from about 1966 the dramas became an integral part of the program. We had one per day and the brothers looked forward to their presentation. Some of them were spectacular, I remember the one about Moses that was called by the friends the “Ten Commandments”; it ran 90 minutes and you needed about a hundred participants. On the same program there was one about the Apostle Paul that was 120 minutes long.
I have been told that during his time at Bethel Raymond Franz was closely involved with the dramas and that after his departure some of the old friends decided to decrease their frequency and relevance. The truth is that little by little they were curtailed and today for all practical purposes they are gone, my understanding is that a video replaced the live representation.
Being honest for sure it was a lot of work and effort, but for the majority it was a fun occasion.
So if you know some internal details about the dramas or were a participant or director, please share your experiences with us.
Thanks for reading

Fidel Castro and the WT
by Hecce ini am going to engage on a trip to the past and share with you some of the matters that marked the beginning of the jws persecution in cuba.
you will be surprised that the pattern that was followed is very similar to what happened in other dictatorial countries.. in the cuban case, i am going to surprise you and tell you that like what happened with hitler; the wt was partially responsible for their clash and confrontation with the cuban government.
during the early 60s the revolution was fighting for survival and they were willing and ready to demolish any perceived enemy to their cause.. a prime example was their war against the catholic church that was the most influential religious entity in the country; it took the supreme leader only a few public discourses to send the vast majority of clergy packing and back to their country, in this case spain.. the jehovah’s witnesses were an insignificant minority but they over estimated their importance and displayed a belligerent attitude, it was known that this was a us based religion and an easy target to connect them with the cia.

A had a query about the torture and reports that some of the friends were forced to dig their own graves.
This is true, what happened is they were forced to do it; were put in front of firing squads and shot with blanks. Sometimes they did this to them more than once.
Other forms of torture included:
Sleep deprivation.
Hunger for days.
Beatings.
Buried in the ground up to their necks and left there for more than one day.
At least a case of a young brother that was stabbed with a bayonet.
Being forced to be naked or in their underwear for refusing to wear the military uniform.
The model followed was that of the Russian concentration camps, at that time the Security methods were Soviet all the way.
Barbaric and sadistic.
