by Hecce ina few times we have commented in the forum about the lack of information in the watchtower publications about the islamic religion.
we have to go back to 1951 to find a very comprehensive analysis of mohamed and his religion that is in the book “what has religion done for mankind?”.. this subject is discussed on page 278 and chapter 22, under the title “islam, mohamed religion of submission”.
the information is written with the watchtower detailed style for those days and there is a lot of history to be learn in that chapter.

I have to update my personal study calendar.
I took a look at the book and it seems really comprehensive, lots of good material. One thing that I noticed is that it doesn't end with an admonition and judgement like the 1951 book.

One false expectation from the WT. Islam was more resilient that international communism; today they are the menace and communism is just another ideology.
and today it is threatened like Christendom by the world menace of international communism.
Another falsehood, there was no "final crisis"; it is impossible to count how many more with have had since 1951.
In this the final crisis of this old world Islam has no message to offer distressed humanity

Do you think at the threat of assassination most religious leaders would renounce their beliefs ?
by Chook inplenty of priests been killed , but i wonder if big tony and his smiley mate would sign the paper work..

My family was from '58-'70 a part of the Columbia Heights Congregation which met downstairs in Brooklyn Bethel. Because it was so convenient for the members of the Governing Body we were used to seeing them at meetings when they were in town. Mostly, though they were gone, often on international trips which they wold occasionally tell us about.
In 1960 I graduated from high school in NYC. In those days all graduating seniors were required to sign a loyalty oath to get the diplomas they'd worked for. Hayden Covington, the Society's Constitutional lawyer wrote a letter on my behalf to the Board of Regents in order for me to get my diploma without having to take that oath.
Imagine how I felt when not long afterward I applied for a passport and found every American was required to sign the EXACT SAME LOYALTY OATH in order to receive a passport! I knew then that every American on GB (all but 1-2 in those days) HAD TO HAVE SIGNED that very oath that signing would have once described "disloyalty to Jehovah's Kingdom Government".
BTW, I DID sign the oath and I DID get my first passport. Never again did I put my trust in the WT's 'do what I say, not what I do' twist on "Truth".
Today, older and wiser, I suspect that I was selected by the Society and Covington for convenience, hoping to make a federal case out of this oath. (There must have been hundreds of other JW's graduating at the same time, but none lived as close to HQ! as I did.) One thing that surprises is that the final conclusions regarding Islam are very mild in comparison with the merciless attacks against Christendom at that time.

Under the scenario that I was proposing the properties could be fully used until the completion of the sale. No need to have empty buildings or change the use. What this was going to involve was a decelerated lay off of the Bethelites.
At any rate, this is full of ifs and it is only an exercise in "what ifs?". What is done is done.

I agree with everything that you are saying. My only doubt as to what they did, is dumping everything at once. Considering that their properties are prime real estate I would think that a gradual sale of the properties was a better idea.
I warn you this is coming from a guy sitting at home in his pajamas.

Something to keep in mind, under the tax structure in the US an arrangement like the Patterson Inn and the land lease in Brooklyn will be a commercial enterprise and the WT will he liable not just for the property taxes but also for the income taxes generated by the property.
It will get very complicated and subject to Internal Revenue Service controls.
