At the end of the day, the fans going to the Stadiums and watching on TV are paying to see entertainment; not to see more politics, if the players want to demonstrate let them do it on their time, not while they are working and getting a very good pay for their services.

Why the NFL Protest Is a Massive and Insulting Failure
by freemindfade ini think everyone has the freedom to protest, they also have freedom of speech, these are two fundamental things that make america amazing.
but thinking rationally about what is going on with the nfl, therefore, i have an unfavorable opinion of the league, and the players, not their right to free speech, but their motive and execution of it.
constitutional freedom to protest ends at the workplace door too.

never a jw
You have a group of people that have been abused for hundreds of years and shaking out the idea that racism is no longer the greatest issue is not going to be an easy task.If you want to go that route you will need a better example that these professional athletes, the majority has been living a life of privilege all their lives based on their size and physical attributes. They are killing the golden goose.
By the way, did you see the videos of the looters in Miami?

I didn't know a thing about the kneeling until Trump open his mouth. The fact that you didn't know about it doesn't mean that the problem was not there. It has been going on for one year and it was picking up steam before the President's comments.

I 'heard' they make money regardless if anyone is in the stadium! Not for long, 1/4 of a stadium empty will hurt the pockets of owners, sponsors, concessions, TV and everyone involved. Wait until contract time renewal comes, plus the loss of commercial opportunities as spokesmen.

What surprises me is the owners involvement, these guys are smart enough to know that $$$ wise there is no upside for them, just downside.
They should know that at some point in the future they will have to put a stop to this, people go to the games for entertainment; if they wanted more political action they will stay home and watch cable 24/7.
Over at Foxboro, they ran out of bottled water and they charged fans $ 4.50 for a cup of water, later on they apologized but it was too late.

Special Talks now via video
by AverageJoe1 intired of listening to your local elders giving the "special" talk ever year after the memorial?
well don't worry, as of next year we will be spicing things up for your enjoyment.. not only will we be having the talk before the memorial (i know, wild huh), but we will be treating you to the talk via video starring our famous speakers from bethel so you can see how a talk should be given (after all bethel does boast the best speakers in any country, right?!).
here's a copy of the text from our latest letter as i'm sure that with so much excitement you won't believe it at first!.

The local speakers were a danger to the Branch, some of them were more qualified as speakers than what Bethel used to send out to the Conventions.
This was not good for the central control needed for domination, in order to remedy this the outlines have been made very simple, absolute following of them is requested and no additional material to be added.
The current meetings setup doesn't allow for the development of any new talent, as the good speakers fade away we will eventually have just the videos and so on for the meetings.

What would Watchtower be like now with out the 1975 fiasco.
by joe134cd inno doubt this has been discussed before, but if the 1975 event had never happened where would watchtower be now.
comments please..

Difficult to say, 1975 brought about one million to the WT and the majority stayed. My guess is that without 1975 we will have a smaller religion with a little better reputation.

"The purpose of reporting field service time is for encouragement"
by HereIgo ini was told this when i was an aspiring jw, aka unbaptized publisher.
the above explanation didn't make sense to me then and it never did make sense throughout my jw career.
over time, it appeared to me the real purpose of field service time reporting was to gauge one's spirituality and for the ceo *cough* co to make sure the elders were on top of things during his visit..

Nah
Reporting started with the colporteurs (travelling salesman) and it was a way of showing their placements (sales), they had to remit a portion of the sales proceeds to the branch and then new supplies were sent to them.
Eventually it was adopted for everyone with a heavy emphasis in placements, separate columns for books, booklets, subscriptions and magazines.
We have information about this in the forum and even sample forms,

10 Graphs that show that the Watchtower is in trouble in Mexico
by ILoveTTATT2 inmexico is by far the country where the witnesses have had the most success in the entire world.
almost any statistic except the total amount of witnesses shows that mexico is where the witnesses have had the wildest success in the world.proportional to population, the witnesses in mexico are double, or nearly triple, what they are in the us or brazil.but there is "trouble in paradise".
if mexico falls, pretty much the whole watchtower falls.which is why it is so important to have jwfacts translated to spanish.i made an analysis and things are looking bad in mexico... if trends continue, mexico will become just like the 1st-world countries.here is the first graph:maximum publisher % increase:.

Thanks, very impressive.
I can't talk much about Mexico; what I know is what I read but I will venture that two factors related to the decline of the WT in that country are the migration to USA (which counts for the little bit of increase in the USA) and the control of the cartels in certain regions of the country where it has become really dangerous to operate witness style.

How many do you figure are converted through the door to door ministry?
by HereIgo ini regular pioneered for 2 years and never have actually converted anyone through the door to door work, in fact, i only knew a few individuals that joined this way.
most were born-in or at least had some type of family influence.
i had several bible studies but they all got cold feet when things got serious and potential baptism was discussed.

The door to door service was originally a way to sell books and magazines, since they don't do that anymore is a complete waste of time. I have seen a congregation with 10 regular pioneers and over a period of many years all the new publishers are congregation members children or relatives and not even a single one has come from door to door preaching.
