For people in special service, likes COs and Special Pioneers a pregnancy was a curse; in the majority of the cases it was not welcomed. In many instances once that the child was born that sentiment will be passed on to the baby and a lot of those children were raised like they were a major inconvenience.

I don't know about the current instructions for the dramas, in the past they were explicit about using worn out fabrics for the costumes. I have never seen this followed even in today's theatrical super productions.
All of the participants have attires that seem out of a major department store and not of people in the conditions that they are supposed to represent.

Fidel Castro and the WT
by Hecce ini am going to engage on a trip to the past and share with you some of the matters that marked the beginning of the jws persecution in cuba.
you will be surprised that the pattern that was followed is very similar to what happened in other dictatorial countries.. in the cuban case, i am going to surprise you and tell you that like what happened with hitler; the wt was partially responsible for their clash and confrontation with the cuban government.
during the early 60s the revolution was fighting for survival and they were willing and ready to demolish any perceived enemy to their cause.. a prime example was their war against the catholic church that was the most influential religious entity in the country; it took the supreme leader only a few public discourses to send the vast majority of clergy packing and back to their country, in this case spain.. the jehovah’s witnesses were an insignificant minority but they over estimated their importance and displayed a belligerent attitude, it was known that this was a us based religion and an easy target to connect them with the cia.

Something that might be related to the current slow growthblis the arrival of the internet, it has been gaining access little by little:
Cuba to roll out mobile internet for the first time - CNBC.com
Dec 5, 2018 - Cuba has announced that 3G internet access for cell phone users across the country will become available from Thursday. The Caribbean island nation, which exists under communist rule, opened state-run internet cafes in 2013 and citizens have only had access to home internet and public Wi-Fi hotspots since 2017. -

A mayor contradiction, on the one hand publishers are encouraged to discontinue non productive studies and on the other hand they are promoting 5 minutes considerations at the door.

On the positive side, the modern dramas are very well made and there is no question that a lot of time and effort is saved this way.
Still the preparation of the old dramas was a lot of fun.

On 1/1/2019 the Revolution reached 60 years of age; I don't want to comment on the political aspect of that matter. Just a brief report about the JW work over there:
Pop: 11.480.000
Pubs: 95.031
Ave: 121
Inc. %: 0
The increase is affected by the constant migration but that has been the situation for many years, the lack of growth is a sign that the situation is not as rosy as before.
One highlight is the number of witnesses by inhabitant, at 121 it is one of the best % worldwide.

Were you or someone you know sexually molested by a Jehovah's Witness ?
by flipper indue to the fact there are about 27,000 members of this religion that are known pedophiles, and the information about it is kept in a secret database file, i wonder how many lurking jw's as well as others are aware of the severity of this problem?
remember, it's 27,000 pedophiles that they know about.
what about the thousands that don't get caught?

We didn't have any cases in my immediate family; plenty outside. Even after all the new instructions, intervention of the legal department and all the safeguards I have seen molesters punished by the Congregation but free as a bird with the law.
My impression is that some of the cases were not reported to the authorities, when the law hears about this situations they will send the police and a social worker on the same day to remove the minors from the place. Most of the time the offender is also removed and charged right away.

Is Child Abuse An Issue That You Personally Have Seen In The Organization?
by minimus inas an elder, i saw one child abuse situation involving a man who wanted to be an elder and had i believe 8 children.
he was not in our congregation when this all erupted.
he denied it and moved to another hall and unbelievably, that body of elders wanted to appoint him since they believed his entire family was lying about him.

Yes, quite a few times and before the laws were changed for the protection of the minors, the majority of the cases were unreported and the culprits got away with it.

Chilean cardinal summoned by state prosecutor for alleged abuse cover up
posted Wednesday, 25 Jul 2018Cardinal Ricardo Ezzati (CNS photo/Eliseo Fernandez, Reuters)Cardinal Ezzati is accused of failing to deal quickly enough with allegations of abuse
Chile’s top cardinal has been summoned by a local prosecutor after a letter from a fellow bishop accused him of failing to deal with cases of clerical sex abuse.
Cardinal Ricardo Ezzati of Santiago de Chile will testify in the town of Rancagua, 40 miles south of the Chilean capital, where authorities are investigating allegations of a network of priests calling themselves “The Family”. They are accused of engaging in abuse, prostitution and homosexuality.
“I reiterate my commitment, and that of the church of Santiago, with the victims, to the search for truth and respect for civil justice,” the cardinal said.
“I firmly believe that I never covered up nor obstructed justice, and as a citizen I will do my duty in providing all the information to help clarify the facts.”
On Sunday, a Chilean newspaper published a leaked letter sent to Cardinal Ezzati in 2013 from Archbishop Alejandro Goic.
Archbishop Goic, who was then head of a national commission for abuse prevention, told the cardinal: “Sometimes I have the impression, perhaps subjective, that you don’t share the views of the national commission in these delicate issues.”
“At the same time, members of the commission share their dissatisfaction with certain cases that you have had to take on,” he continued. “For me, it hasn’t been easy. Maintaining communion with you while respecting and listening to the members’ critical views is a difficult balancing act.”
Pope Francis accepted Archbishop Goic’s resignation in June, just days after he had stood down as head of the abuse prevention commission following an admission that he had taken too long to respond to abuse allegations.
The Chilean Church has been gripped by the child abuse crisis since 2011, when the Vatican found Fr Fernando Karadima guilty of abusing children.
Juan Carlos Cruz, one of Fr Karadima’s victims, said Cardinal Ezzati has “little time left as archbishop of Santiago, but his new mission of answering for his cover-up, lies and other crimes… has just begun.”
