Do todays Jw's care at all about Russell and the pyramid?
by olongapo joe injust wondering, as i will be visiting active jw family in ohio in a few weeks, do you think it will be worthwhile dropping it into a conversation, about the wtbts pyramid near his grave, or try some other topic to try and wake them up.
i was never baptized and don't really care if they get upset or not, but it is only a day trip from ohio to pittsburgh, and thought it would be fun if they denied it, and then drove their to see it for ourselves.

They have been told that their history started in 2000, anything before that is irrelevant. -

Your feelings for the former travelling overseers
by Hecce induring our wt life we met a good number of friends involved in the circuit and district work.
i am sure that we share the same experience and that we remember fondly some that we caring, loving and generally interested in the brothers.
at the same time we might remember others that were arrogant, selfish, abusive and oppressive.

A few observations based on the comments.
It is possible that in some third world countries the travelling overseers might be living a life of poverty and sacrifice, that is not the case in most advanced places; in reality is a life of privilege.
The majority of them might start their service with good intentions and a sincere desire of helping their brothers, but power is a dangerous thing and after a while they change for the worse.
I read about a relative of a poster starting their full time life in the Circuit, if he was my relative I will tell him to enjoy it while he can but not to put all his eggs in one basket. The WT is not to be trusted and who knows when his day might come.

I am bringing up this post because I don't know if it was posted that Rene (Faraon) died last year, around June. He was a big contributor on this forum and also in the Spanish.

Doubtfully Yours
I concur with your opinion of Rene Ramirez, maybe the worse that I have ever seen; maybe a little bit "loco". He changed his name to some weird name, the last that I heard from him he was retired prior to the big change; went to Puerto Rico or Costa Rica and I heard that he was asking the friends for some help with relocation money.
Thanks

I remember kindly a few ones, now one thing that I have to admit the bad ones were really, really "bad".

During our WT life we met a good number of friends involved in the Circuit and District work. I am sure that we share the same experience and that we remember fondly some that we caring, loving and generally interested in the brothers. At the same time we might remember others that were arrogant, selfish, abusive and oppressive. Now that their jobs have been abruptly taken away, the majority of them are undergoing a harsh adjustment to the realities of their new life and some are really struggling to adapt.
When I think about them I feel sorry for the ones that were sincere and honest about their service, no matter what we are told there is no way that people can have their life expectations changed on such a short notice without suffering a serious life shock. I know that plenty are depressed thinking about their present conditions and the life opportunities that were lost.
On the other hand if I think about the “bad” apples a certain degree of satisfaction comes over me, thinking that they are getting what they deserve and that it was about time for them to be put in their places.
One reality is that those individuals were living a life of privilege and adulation and that their life was based on a lie that has been exposed by their spiritual leaders. So in essence all of them to a certain degree are getting what they deserve.
With regards to the master puppeteers, the WT the actions taken with this group reflect treachery and a high disregard for the people associated with them.
These are my ramblings and I invite you to share yours.
Thanks

Fidel Castro and the WT
by Hecce ini am going to engage on a trip to the past and share with you some of the matters that marked the beginning of the jws persecution in cuba.
you will be surprised that the pattern that was followed is very similar to what happened in other dictatorial countries.. in the cuban case, i am going to surprise you and tell you that like what happened with hitler; the wt was partially responsible for their clash and confrontation with the cuban government.
during the early 60s the revolution was fighting for survival and they were willing and ready to demolish any perceived enemy to their cause.. a prime example was their war against the catholic church that was the most influential religious entity in the country; it took the supreme leader only a few public discourses to send the vast majority of clergy packing and back to their country, in this case spain.. the jehovah’s witnesses were an insignificant minority but they over estimated their importance and displayed a belligerent attitude, it was known that this was a us based religion and an easy target to connect them with the cia.

JWs the kings of plagiarism
by Hecce inthe wt used to be rich for the quality of their public speakers, at the top of the ladder were the dos motivating the brothers on a weekly basis.
some of them used very folksy experiences related to the brothers as motivational tools, when you left the convention those experiences were the talk of the town.
i remember one very well qualified brother serving as do that was constantly using those sort of experiences as part of his arsenal, at one time he related one about a sister that new that she was going to die soon and while meeting with the family and brothers for final preparations she requested to be buried with a fork in her hand.

As some of the posters have mentioned, if they are so dishonest with their oral quotes; can imagine what they can do with their publications. We don't have too, there plenty of examples of open dishonesty or stretching the truth to the max.
Thanks

I think that during their existence the only truth said by the WT was:
"Religion is a racket and a snare".
The only problem is that today they are religion and a vivid exponent of that saying.

I remember one very well qualified brother serving as DO that was constantly using those sort of experiences as part of his arsenal, at one time he related one about a sister that new that she was going to die soon and while meeting with the family and brothers for final preparations she requested to be buried with a fork in her hand. When she was questioned as to the reason for that she said that she wanted to be ready on the day of the resurrection to eat her favorite cake, since she knew that the best was yet to come.
The speaker related this as a real life experience and by the time that he ended there were no dry eyes in the hall. I left the place swallowing everything that he said, to my surprise later on reading on the net I saw the same experience adjusted to a different set of circumstances and since then I have found it a gillion times.
Here is one version: http://hopeforlife.org/2009/09/save-your-fork/
Have you ever seen a similar situation?
Thanks
