i'm just curious as to how it all happened.. to explain.

many years back, before ex-jw websites, i called on a local lady in order to design an extension to her already enormous house.

she was a young, voluptuous gal, married to a much older local business man who spared little expense in order to give his young wife whatever her heart desired.. we chatted for ages.

It seems like there are two different eras on the R. Franz saga, one before coming to Bethel; during that portion he was a Corporate man and behaved like any CO, DO, BO and any other JW in a position of authority.

At Bethel it appears like he tried to correct what he saw as needing mending, the most relaxing period of the WT was during his stay at the top during the 70s.

After his departure, he kept changing for the better; friends who visited him and his wife over at GA spoke very highly of their warmth and caring attitude. Whoever dealt with him during the later stages of his life, left with a good impression.

Newspaper article on Conventions—why so glowing?

every year in dozens of cities where conventions are being held, newspapers typically write an article about the event.

there are exceptions, but usually it is like the articles above.

i would love to see more newspaper articles that did some actual objective reporting, rather than puff pieces.

Agree with all the reasons that have been provided.

WT is very conscious of PR and they have a nice set of press releases for every Convention need, reporters will just follow that. With regards to the comparisons with other conventions, generally speaking they are looking at different groups related to entertainment, sports, politic and stuff like that; if they were to match the WT Conventions with another religious groups like Evangelicals they will find that the good behavior is very similar.

I remember a deceased CO Nick Kovalack that made a comment during one of his talks, he didn't mentioned any names but said that some people were talking about "crisis of conscience" but that they should rather be talking about "conscience in crisis".

At that time it sounded great and like a smart one liner.

first of all, i am not quite sure whether this is the right place to ask my questions.

if this is not really appropriate, please tell me in advance, but i really did not know who to turn to, so i thought why not ask the internet... now, i know many of you are apostates and i'm not really looking for "leave it all behind you" answers, but really for experiences, thoughts and ideas... as well as maybe some verses if you can think of any.. anyway, first things first.

since this is very anonymous and i'd like to keep it that way, i will not give you my name, but still, i think some background info might be helpful.

spartowdown. I think what you just said really is the core of my problem. I want to have a relationship to God, but on my terms, guided by my conscience. In the end I am the one responsible for myself, not the GB. That's why I have to deal with things the way I see them as right and wrong.

With this comment you are proving that the WT is not for you.

Hecce. Though I already thought about that issue I did not research that further. Do you have a source for your statement that they all left the congregation? This sounds pretty interesting.

I was very clear that my comment was related to my personal experience and observations. Now I can tell you that the WT is not a very tolerant and progressive organization and the JW homosexuals (they are some) are living a double life, in constant fear of being outed and DF.

My small contribution: I have no experience whatsoever with the TG issue, since this is a brand new dilemma.

If I have to use some guideline as reference I will think about homosexuality and the few individuals male and female that I saw coming into the WT with the conviction that they had conquered their orientation problem. There was not a single case where they were successful, in every instance they went back to their old habits or practices and some of them took another publisher with them.

My opinion is, a person with that inclination will be asking for hell by coming into the WT.

Why do witnesses feel the need to put JW ORG on all their social media sites?

have you all noticed the obsession witnesses have of putting jw.org on all their social media sites like facebook, twitter, instagram etc?.

so many put it in their bio section...like some sort of loud proclamation to other witnesses that they are righteous and spreading the message.. it's also very lazy.

now with no personal effort at all, they can just say jw.org and be "witnessing".

As stated, a whole bunch of copycats; in actuality the items don't mean beans to them. Back in the 70-80 there was a craze with the Tetragramaton and the Watchtower and someone made some serious money selling trinkets to the dubs with these representations.

My personal experience goes like this, as a commoner I was not privy to anything secret about this affair or was concerned about it. The information that I got from the start to the end with the DF was one sided, the COs and other relevant elders were the ones talking on a negative light towards Franz about the affair; the common idea was that he was associated with some Evangelicals and had appeared on their TV channels. To be honest with you what was represent to me was not a big deal.

Years after that with the growth of the Internet when I became aware of the intimate details and his books, my perception about the matter changed completely.

in patterson there is a group of brothers, all of them baptized after 1975, a group of them are candidates to all new gb membership, as soon as new places will be included or some members will passed away.

clear details and info tell us that a new gb will be a us citizen with mexican background.. really funny to see that we can give light to our ex jw family months before it comes public :).

Moreno: weaknesses: attorneys are not spiritual beings (Rutherford and Covington) very poor speaker and not a partaker.

Perla: the perfect prototype, groomed for the position by decades of Bethel experience, not a partaker.

Firvida: same as Perla, more experience in the field and less at Bethel, the best speaker of the three and oddly enough followed his father as a participant.

Participants at the Spanish Forum seem to indicate that the chosen one is a person serving at the Mexican Branch, not a native.

New Spiritually Weak Label: Not Using Tablet/iPhone

with last night's meeting it became official: here in the states is a must to keep up with 'jehovah's org' that one fully jumps on board with this tablet/iphone crap.. so, now, all of us that up to this point have refused to follow the wtbts in their electronic/wireless revolution will deal with the browbeating from the 'spiritual' ones.. already receiving lots of grief from hubby and rest of the family/close friends when seen at the meetings with paper publications.
