i am new to here so please be bear with me.. i have always believed in god, but was never baptised, my parents wanted me to make up my own mind religon wise.. i am thinking of becoming a jw and am just needing some advice on how to do this, bible study and jw beliefs.

My word, the more i hear the more worried i get.

I am still struggling with my depression and guess im looking for a loving "family" to help me through. The otherthing is - please dont think im silly - i am terrified of dying. I guess tgat was a major pull towards the jws. The promise of surviving in a world of never ending happiness.

I must admit i dont know much sbout the bible, i know about adam, eve garden of eden etc, jesus dying and being reserected but what i dont know is how to talk to god, how to pray and thank him for all the good in my life, i dont know how to say grace all things i want to do.

I really am messed up and all alone. I have always loved the prayer "footprints in the sand" and have always liked to believe its true, but now it seems just when i need god the most hes left me. Just like the prayer.

I dont want to offend anyone and i hope i havent x

Again thanks for all your comments.

Just out of interest referencing what 'sickandtired' posted. U said JW prayed morning, before meals in the kindom hall and at night time.

Can i give me an example of that. Is it like grace in the term "we thank u god for this food we are about to eat..."

I really had no idea that it was a cult and so controlling. Can someone please tell me more about being controlled what to wear and how to look... i mean i am 29 not bad looking, does it mean no make up head covered etc dowdy looking etc...

I am not currently having bibal study with JW. They have came to see me and we talked but that is as far as its gone for now. They said they would come back. Im just trying to know as much as i can before i comit - i hope that doesnt sound wrong.

Are u able to offer any explination to my previous post, the questions and all??

I have been continuing my research and have a few more questions.

I have heard that a JW can not smoke, drink alcohol, have sex with anyone except the person they are married to and that they cannot say grace or god bless u.

Can any of u ex JW's tell me if the above are correct anc tell me some more about them please. Are u telling me that there is no prayer said before a meal to thank god for the meal??

Also can u please tell me any other rules that are a must if i went ahead.

I dont know if i am 'under or getting under the spell' but i feel loved like i have not experienced before.

I have been in touch with my Dr and he has put me on antidepressants which makes me more relaxed and more easily purswaded to things- i dont know if they could sense that??

I have always been a person who needed to feel loved and have people around me. Maybe i am like someone said "an easy target for the jw's"

Hi y'all,

Thanks for all your comments. I have read them all and am thinking throughly on all the points mentioned.

I will explain a bit more about myself then we'll see what happens.

I am a very shy person and am a bit worried about what you all will think of me. I have always been shy and never made friends easily because of that. I am currently suffering depression.

So the other week i had a couple of JW's knock at the door. I was frajile and let myself listen to them. I have always been an honest person and told them i was depressed / finding life difficult they were so understanding and told me how good my life could b.

I also like the thought of a disaplined lifestyle and being closer to god.

I hope you all dont think im weird or making this up. I do like the idea of saying grace before meals and covering my head during a service etc.
