Hi Jonno. I enjoyed reading your story. I can relate to much of what you said. Once it's realized that the JW's don't have the truth, the mind is opened, nobody has all the answers, and the infinite learning and questioning can begin.

The Gentile Times Reconsidered (607 B.C.E.) -Part A1 - Jeremiah 25:10-12 Reviewed
by FaceTheFacts induring the last three to four months, i have spent a great deal of time sinking my teeth into various critical biblical commentaries and lexicons.
naturally, after beginning to research "the truth about the truth" one of the most commonplace yet controversial arguments revolve around the "gentile times" doctrine (i.e.
the application of the seven times of daniel 4 from 607 b.c.e.

^That's exactly what I think Witness My Fury. Swamp and confuse so maybe any lurkers just get overwhelmed and think 'the Slave class must be right on this, they do such thorough research. And besides we all know Jesus became king in 1914'.
Most are happy with the historical evidence and a sound scriptural explanation that puts them both in harmony. Not our friend Leigon.

What the!? I might bash my head against some concrete so I can better understand.
The further away from the religon you are the more puzzling this all becomes. How does anyone not see it.

Remarkable Statistic - Bible Studies compared to Baptisms
by jwfacts ini am surprised i have not noticed this before, particularly since this is one of the most important statistics, and so have just added the new graphs to watchtower publisher statistics.. the number of bible studies generally trends roughly with the number of publishers on a one to one basis.
however, the number of baptisms has not been rising.
this has resulted in a rapidly falling conversion rate.

Thanks for the info jwfacts. Your site is an invaluable resource to those who are still in but want to make a rational inquiry into their religon. And great for gathering info for family members who are still in.
Statistics like this are great because you can just mention a few at gathering of freinds and family and you almost sound like a keen WT student while presenting information that could actually weaken there faith/delusion.
In our congregation a while ago we had a local needs part about how to increase your hours in the misery. They stressed the fact that those with kids can count time and a bible study. The brother did the maths of how many actual hours in service those with kids would need to reach the national average compared to those without. It was a bit strange.
The witnessing work is such a drag for many witnesses. No one is interested. Knock on the door hope it's a not at home, don't bother recording them we are back soon enough. On the rare occasion you get through a introduction it's like 'oh crap you didn't shut the door on me, I have to have say something now, here have a watchtower'.

Genesis 3:16 - As to ALL Women... or One Woman? A Favor, Please...
by AGuest inmay you all have peace!.
so, as some of you might know (or discern)... or not... i am not your usual submissive/in subjection kind of girl.
given what some apparently expect of women... as wives, daughters, female friends... and in general... i was curious about the greater fulfillment of genesis 3:16, because many are of the belief that it applies to all women as to all men... (including those that aren't their husbands)... and not the just one being addressed at the time (eve as to adham).. personally, other than paul's position on women teaching in public (which was borne of what was occurring in the region at the time, due to by-then jewish culture and roman occupation)... and peter's admonishment for wives to submit themselves to their own husbands... that i know of nothing that validates a woman being in subjection to anyone other than her own husband, and even then such "subjection" is not puerile or unrestrained (so as to just be a given), but borne of love and respect for her husband (in which case it should not be difficult)... who is obligated to honor her, as well.

Here's a gem from the Jeremiah book that the witnesses are studying now. I stumbled over it by chance the other day and thought the ladies on here might appreciate it. Taken from page 75 - 'As a housewife scrubs even the hidden corners of her kitchen to keep her home clean and sanitary, a repentant person should work hard to clean up his thoughts' Wow. Notice not just someone or a cleaner or a home carer but specifically a housewife. What a privilege women have in God's organization. And if you housewives keep the hidden corners really sanitary, you don't even have to wear a head covering! But remember to change out of your work uniform into your pretty dress for family worship evening.

Memorial report 33 CE : Anointed partakers :0 --Jonadabs/OS partakers:11 or 12 ?
by prologos inaccording to the reports in the scriptures there were 13 persons in the upper rrom in jerusalem on nisan 13,14,15?
assembled fot the passover.. when the bread and wine were passed, 11 or 12 (depending on the reporter) were served.
these had an earthly hope, expected to eat and drink in the kingdom and rule soon in jerusalem.

Why can't you understand the Faithfull Slaves reasoning?
Have you made it a matter prayer? Be specific when you pray. Get out in the ministry more. Become steadfast having plenty to do in the work of The Lord. Give heartfelt comments at the meetings.
Are you happy to wait on Jehovah?
Your not supposed to think about these things. Avoid independent thinking. Satan has got you.

I believe Anthony Morris III is a shoe maker. Just a humble shoe maker. He must hang out at his shoe making place.
He says "if the shoes fit, well you gotta wear em".
My don't fit. They are the most uncomfortable, ridiculously looking pieces of crap I have ever experienced. I don't know how anyone could wear these things.
I have been trying to wear them for years and they are causing me serious problems. Ankles, knees, back you name it.
I am going to take them back and if I don't get a full refund I am going to pelt them at his smug face.
I just need to find the shoe place where he hangs.

Wouldn't it be nice Recovery/Ethos/FacetheFacts if the Holy scriptures were in complete harmony with the historic evidence? Isn't that a good thing? Or wo uld you prefer that the bible is in clear conflict with thousands of pieces of evidence that form the foundation of a widely accepted date in history? Why would you want to discredit your sacred writings by trying to conflict them with the overwhelming evidence? Isn't this what you are doing? These are honest questions, you should think about them.
The fact is the bible is in harmony with the historic evidence. It has been explained here and elsewhere over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. Many times in fact. On this site and others. Explained on numerous occasions.
The fact is obvious to everyone reading this, that the only reason you cling to 607, AND INSIST THAT THE SCRIPTURES DON'T AGREE WITH THE FACTS, is the implications it has to your entire belief system. It's a hard pill to swallow. Many of us have been there. Just accept that the bible is in harmony with the historical evidence. That's a good thing. Some religious quacks in the 1800's were off track with prophetic speculation. A few people in New York still are. Just digest it and move on. The truth will set you free.
Recovery please stop. Your embarrassing yourself Ethos. The people on this site are here to help you OlinMoyle41. They will actually take the time to listen in and respond to you personally FacetheFacts.
Those few men in Brooklyn who try so hard to defend don't know you or care. If they knew you were on this site though they would spiritually stone you and pitch you to fiery Gehenna.
