  Only my mothers side of the family has the JW virus, my fathers side does not. The family without the JW side are much closer. My JW family discard many individuals, even their children, for life. I can honestly say that making friends in the world I immediately noticed stronger family connections. That’s not to say everythings perfect, but relationships are much healthier.

  They also tend to be fairly clean living and law abiding so it's swings and roundabouts
  

  That’s debatable. All things being equal, I don’t see the JW religion doing anything but harm.

  I agree with Simon, Jonestown comparisons don’t help. But at the same time I believe the damage this cult inflicts on families would susprise the average person.

  I can’t believe when I read about those maintain a JW facade, for years even decades just to keep family relations. That says enough about their “Christian family”

  How many well adjusted young JW adults around these days? I suspect they’re uncommon, most are fairly socially damaged individuals. I also know a few people who have had full psychological breakdowns learning the TTATT. I nearly went insane myself, or I did. Point is, I think it would be hard to exaggerate to most people how fucked up a JW upbringing is.

  It’s just full blast fundamental Christianity with a few unique doctrines that are very cruel.

  It can only be good thing. The media in Australia won’t run anything about JWs, we get shit like the “duchess looks stunning in blue” and “Hemsworth removes shirt on beach”. Most actually don’t know anything at all about JWs, or even give a shit. I think that most though would be shocked at the level of fundamentalism and control among the JWs, combine that with the giant child abuse cover ups, the WT will never win the PR battle that’s getting underway.

  Funny thing is, you don’t even have to misconstrue what he says, or take anything out of context. You can laugh anytime he opens his mouth, this guy is 100% wacko.

  Is he taking a kindergarten class? Does he want JWs to act like small children? Is he a small child? So many questions, and sadly I doubt his body will ever be donated to science so we may never get answers.

  yes, i too have wondered how an assembly that is held in a fully paid for assembly hall, with no food service, could possibly have $10,000 in expenses.

  i suppose the bethel speakers have transportation expenses - maybe $1000 or so.

  as for rent on the assembly hall, well you have already paid for it once, why pay again?

  for example what about prophecies like babylon or prophecies about jesus birth and life that jw use to make you believe bible is god originated?

  According to JW doctrine it’s 24/7 fruit platters in the new system, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snakes, tigers, vultures, dolphins, every fucking living thing will eat it because it’s paradise.

  I’m exaggerating, the animals can eat vegetables also.

  They’ve given us Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David yet still people hate them. It’s disgusting. I recall an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry David is pretending he’s a strict Jew, also on Seinfeld, Jerry was suspicious his dentist was only claiming to be Jewish so he could tell Jewish jokes.

  you've likely heard all this before, but i had to laugh (silently) at the public talk today.. he focused on how close we are to the end.

  we're not only in the last days, but we're in "the final part" of the last days.. also, we are nearing "the end of the final part of the last days".

  he didn't read any scriptures backing up how the last days are broken up like this.. i went today since relatives es were visiting, but it was more entertaining than usual.. as well, the gb isn't warning us about armageddon, rather they're mainly warning about the great tribulation, which is "very, very, close!
