  Kinda Sad Re: Cart "Witnessing"

  slightly redacted for privacy of those involved.. so, this is "park witnessing" in oklahoma.. the parks in this community are basically walking trails and some tatty playground equipment.

  most of the time, sparsely used, and today was a very blustery day.. notice the justifying comment- "quite a few" checking out the cart.

  Head down to the waterfront, set up your cart, find a comfy seat and wait for two hours.

  Repeat this at weekly intervals and receive everlasting life and many fruit platters.

  for years adventist sects, including the jws, have believed that the dead sleep at death and remain non-existent until the resurrection.

  its strongest argument seems to be text in the non-escchatological book of ecclesiastes in the old testament.

  although a part of the canon of scripture, the book is not written by a prophet, nor is there any prophecy or recognizable doctrine contained therein.

  Drugs....why?

  im new here, so go easy with me!

  just wanted to know if any one has any idea's or personal experience in regard to drug and alcohol abuse in former jw's.

  all the one's i know have just lost the plot when it comes drugs and alcohol, especially drug use.

  In Australia it is very common to see JWs drinking well over healthy levels. I can recall plenty of brothers and probably half a dozen or so elders who would drink the equivalent of 6 heavy beers or a bottle of wine daily, at minimum.

  the so-called 10 commandments are a post-biblical construct.... there is an elohist list at exodus 20 and a yahwist one at exodus 34 that contains such gems as "you shall not cook a kid in its mother’s milk.".

  any intelligent adult could create a more useful list of ethical precepts before the end of a coffee break.. it is interesting to compare the satanic temple's seven tenets.

  i think you might agree that it makes yahweh's rules look like they were written by a bronze age power-hungry, misogynistic priest.

  I'm not sure you really addressed Coftys concerns on the slavery issue, Cold Steel.

  It would have been within Gods laws to torture a slave to death. So long as the death doesn't immediately follow the beatings. Agonisng prolonged deaths of beaten and tortured slaves are sanctioned by your almighty God.

  He organised a mass genocide. It ended with two sisters having their mother murdered, before they drugged their father and had incestual relations with him.

  There is even more mayhem to this story.... if the father got his way, his daughters would have been screwed much earlier, without wine though this time. You see, he offered his daughters to an angry mob, the very mob God was set to wipe out in the genocide. It goes deep......

  Evidently, this lesson is one of the deep things of Jehovah.
