USA, Oklahoma | Jehovah's Witness church elder Ronald Lawrence arrested over sex abuse claims dating back to 1980s
by jwleaks inusa, oklahoma | jehovah's witness church elder ronald lawrence arrested over sex abuse claims dating back to the 1980's.
a 76-year-old mcalester man was arrested tuesday on 19 counts of sexual abuse after police received claims he molested several children while in a position of authority more than 30 years ago.. mcalester police detectives were alerted to the alleged sexual crimes conducted by ronald lawrence back in august when his first accuser reported abuse at the hands of a jehovah's witness church leader.. a woman now in her 40s told detectives lawrence, an elder at mcalester's kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses, abused her when she was just eight years old, inviting her to his home, where he fondled her and raped her in his bathtub, according to her testimony found in lawrence's arrest warrant, which was issued tuesday.. two other accusers, also in their 40s, then came forward with similar stories of abuse.
both said they were very young, with one telling investigators the molestation took place from the time she was 10 until she was 13 years old.

My thoughts in reading this are exactly what RO said ^^^
Is this correct, he was disfellowshipped, confessed to abusing a child, reinstated and later appointed an elder?

Survey: Who Here Believe In God/The Bible? Who Are Not Sure? Who Do Not Believe?
by minimus ini think there are many that still want to believe in a god but just aren't sure.. personally, do you believe in a god?.
are you a "spiritual" person?.

I believe the Bible exists as I have seen it, I don't believe it to be written by God as I have not seen him/her and do not believe he/she exists, if he/she did the world would be a different place and there would be no need for a bible.

Welcome, when I resigned as an elder and left in told my 'fellow' elders to treat everyone with love. They haven't and can't following the directions given them. It's good to have you here, you are not alone.

I like you more if you are literratte
by usualusername inas a daily visitor of this site i am shocked by how judgemental i am.. .
if someone makes a valid point but does not spell well it colours my judgement.. .
if someone who is a clown has excellent grammar i give them leeway.. as an aside i am a gramaphobe.. .

If I was out I'd...
by OneDayillBeFree inwhat kinds of things would you like to do if you were out of the organization?
and if you're already out and free, what kinds of things did you do that you really wanted to do but couldn't because it was against jw beleiefs?.
recently, i overheard some of the younger crowd of jw's after a meeting talking about how they wished they could have this or do that, get tattoos, play the newest video games (you know, the ones with all the violence and realistic 'kickass' graphics and such), grow out their beards for 'no shave november" wear miniskirts and dye their hair crazy colours... etc.

Since stopping I have the freedom to choose what I want to do without having to think about it. Celebrating holidays and birthdays has been fun. Learning how to perform magic has been a good mental exercise. I am watching films and TV series I would probably thought twice about. I don't shave my face when I don't want to (most of the time!), I say what is on my mind without wondering if I will offend or be controversial. I am being me!
