What are some of the weird teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses, past and present?

i just picked up a few from mark jones as follows:.

i see is that the vast majority of jws don't seem to understand what their religion actually teaches.. the more controversial or embarrassing doctrine - although still official doctrine that has never been rescinded - is just not talked about anymore in the magazines.

While I would agree, that's some crazy stuff - I disagree with the postulate that an unrescinded teaching is a current teaching. Only stuff that is currently taught would be a current teaching. Just ask anyone under 30 about the "it's not a lie if they don't deserve to know the truth" teaching - they likely will have no idea what you're talking about and if they do, they are on their way out (even if it takes a few more years)

There's tons of crazy stuff from the earlier days that's never been rescinded but noone would think they are current.

Having said that, I like seeing stuff like this, there's tons of bat-shit-crazy nonsense to share on this topic. I will say though that the 1984/rape thing is close enough to current to make anybody gasp even if they're still full in.

What would happen if the Watchtower decided no more meeting at Kingdom Halls, only Zoom?

i’m seeing my hard core believing relatives slowly losing faith that the watchtower is the organization that “god” is using to represent him on earth.. just about all the churches in their area have opened up.. but not the watchtower.. this is having an affect on the faith of even the old timers.

now the only ones who are still holding the faith are the female jws and only those past 70 years of age.

even my old male jw relative past 70 are starting to say that it can’t be jehovah’s organization because the other churches are all open and god supposed organization who is supposed to preach the warning message is still closed with no open in sight.

maybe the masonic lodges are the new “territory” lol but they already have their own brotherhood, i doubt u could convert many there to JW.

i wouldn’t be surprised if some/all GB members are masons.

JWs Outlawed in Russia

JW can have bibles in Russia. Just not their bibles.

JW can have magazines in Russia. Just not their magazines.

JW could meet in Russia, just as Christians did in 1st century. They just can't have THEIR kind of meeting.

Since the bible doesn't authorize, much less direct the use of JW specific bible, literature or meetings, the JWs are ignoring Romans 13 and relieving the sword in response.

The ORG (as well as all the members who go along with it) is causing the problems there.

I don't blame Russia

Imagine if JWs (along with a host of other cults) all came to USA from Russia and started taking over peoples' lives and families and causing all this damage. It would look alot like a stealth attack on the citizenry, which the government would be forced to respond to and protect the people. Even if that means making things hard on the members themselves who are unwitting pawns in the attack.

the online bible study lessons on jw.org are free, have no obligation, and are easy to use.

Maybe this is just a testing grounds for eventual replacement of the study edition and midweek material?

No registration and free for now. But let's be real, "each use of the site incurs a small fee & it is not free to develop and maintain such a complex system. No doubt Jehovah head already moved you to support this new arrangement with your... valuable things." and what better way for elders to keep an eye on you than having you register and record your meeting prep?

Or maybe I'm going a bit heavy on the slippery slope here.. Time will tell.

after the conviction of arch bishop phillip wilson for concealing sex abuse in the church and cardinal pell"s trial getting underway.. this leaves it wide open for the victims to seek redress.. if you are taken to court expect the wts to through you under a bus and wipe their hands of any blame.. if you think putting your assets in a trust or transfering them into your wife,childrens name...to late any lawyer will argue you only did that to stop any victim seeking redress.. i think the victims will all ready be contemplating their course of action and don't be surprised if court action is not far away.. karter..

after meticulous research here are the documented scientific pronouncements from the wtbt$.. note: the golden age became the awake magazine.. the reference twtp is the way to paradise a 1924 book by w. e. van amburgh, who was the secretary/treasurer of the watchtower bible & tract society for 43 years.

it happened february 4, 2014 and just watched it a few months ago.

i thought it was interesting but must confess that i felt extremely embarrassed for ken ham.

His religion is called scientism and in scientism all beliefs are beyond question until officially revised. Where have we heard of this type of belief system before? You are free to practice whatever religion you want but be honest and call it what it is.

Bill Nye is an incredibly honest and open individual. Instead of having a religion where claims are made without evidence...

Are you some sort of Bill Nye support bot or what? Maybe you didn't see my points 1-3 above? Would you like video evidence? If I have the time I will post a link to a fan-boi busting video.

Coded logic - I would agree with evidence based intellectual honesty and rigor being something we need but I've seen Bill Nye do otherwise and be intellectually dishonest while at the same time telling a blatant science lie. As I said, I'm not referring to fundamentalist religious ideology.

I would say that Nye would on the surface appear to be more intellectually honest than Ham, but that really is a meaningless distinction when:

1. You are comparing against someone like Ham

2. 'Science' has become your religion

3. You are willing to lie to promote your religion

Aside from that I'm a bit surprised that Nye took on Ham in public but then again you really have to have an inflated ego to do those things, on both sides.

Ham's ark is a joke, too bad a representative of science, if you can call Nye that after his other nonsense, was sucked unto that world and inadvertently helping raise tons of support and money for it.
