It shouldn't be missed @TheGirlNextDoor had some epic posts in this thread. The only thing that would have made them better would have been for her to end them all with:
"Suck It!" LOL

@GreatTeacher apology accepted and wasn't upset anyway btw. Text doesn't convey the emotion behind it at times and it leaves a lot out so it is easy to arrive at a different place no harm no foul.
...and ur right as to shifting revenue.
however, i haven't found any evidence to support that belief.. have you?
if so please, show me the evidence that god exists, and i will believe along with you.. criteria:.
(1) you must specify which god you are talking about;.
Can I just say this thread has some serious legs.
Maybe @Juandefiero should get a crown or something lol.

@Juandefiero btw I have noticed...all good.
@GreatTeacher c'mon now I'm not advocating drugs. That's not a fair assessment of my comment. What my point is here is that regulating things doesn't always have the effect you expect. Drugs are a prime example of that. Things just got bloodier.

@GreatTeacher you can't. Mass murderers have proven they'll procure the weapons somewhere. All for gun laws but even if you ban them they'll still get them.
Drugs are banned right? How's that working out? It's done nothing but cause violence. Do I think reasonable drug laws are required yes but the stringent nature of it all has caused nothing but more and more violence. This can't be argued.
Again zero issues with making obtaining guns difficult however banning them altogether might literally make things far worse. I genuinely believe that, just as it did with narcotics.

@RubaDub but the mom surely should/could have right? I mean the sheer stupidity to be cruising around like that is unreal.
Imagine if pepper spray, a taser or a knife etc slipped from under the seat could have lost complete control of the vehicle and they could have both been killed. The point is lots of bad things can happen when you're irresponsible and stupid.
Or better yet be responsible and prevent all of it and put the kid in a child safety seat as required by law. Unless I missed it haven't see the pro-banners here mention that the kid should have been in a child seat to begin with. Let's forget about all the other aspects to this story and go right to the controversy I guess.

@juandefiero glad to hear you say this but to be honest that's not at all how you acted with me a month or so ago. A bit of pot and kettle.
@GreatTeacher agree with all you said outside of the fact that you can't store a firearm safely and still use it for self defense.
In the event I described the ammunition was locked in a gun safe with a simple pin that only I and my wife know I loaded and chambered the weapon in less than 10 seconds. Heck it might have been 5. So I vehemently disagree.
it is very difficult to prove states with strict vs. lenient laws benefit or are adversely affected based on their stance on gun laws.
What's interesting is that in California where a very small percentage of the population owns guns the murder rate often leads the nation. Conversely in Alaska where the majority of the population owns a gun the murder rate is extremely low.
The simple truth is that if you ban guns altogether people will still find ways to get them. I know you con-types don't want to hear that but it is undeniable. The shooting not long ago in San Bernardino had both legally and illegally obtained weapons involved. You want a quick fix but unstable people and pressure within society are very much part of the equation I'm afraid. Not a single instance when I've been angry have I thought hey let's shoot someone. Not once and I've been ticked off as much as the next guy.
There are a lot of factors in these equations and I'd be the first to admit you can make a case the other way too. Regardless the blanket statement that well strict gun laws make things inherently safer is patently false and cannot be proven anymore than the opposing view.
Part of the reason this issue is so polarizing is that the data swings both ways in many cases. This makes it very difficult to be hard and fast on either stance in my opinion.

@Simon there was a police report and at the time I don't remember any cameras, dollies or grips being there.
Had I not had a weapon would I have been o.k. I couldn't say. However having one preventing that question from ever having to be asked. Think what you wish.

@Simon sorry brother you are categorically wrong. Years ago some guys tried to break into my house. I chambered the weapon they heard it and they were gone.
Perhaps you think chambering my super soaker would have had the same effect. I disagree.
Obviously ribbing you a bit but in all seriousness when used responsibly it can absolutely protect you. That said and I'll readily admit many have no clue what they're doing. Most choose the wrong weapon for home defense for example. A pistol is the worst thing. Get a light 20 gauge shotgun and teach the wife. She'll be able to handle that. Too many get pistols without any training and can't hit the broadside of a barn in a hostile situation.
Again though when used by intelligent, responsible people they can absolutely save your life and in fact did mine.
