I believe in Evolution and that God created life
by Crabby inanyone else also hold this view or understand it at least, or do you feel the need to argue that both can in no way coexist?.

Judicial Committees should have an option to be public
by EndofMysteries inthinking back to how they went from votes by the congregation under russels time to private closed doors in rutherfords time so as to not waste time, etc, of other members.
if it really wasn't to hide things from the org, it would have an option for the person it's against to have it open to the public.
a time announced for any members or the person to bring any they want to attend.

@Sevan perfect statement my friend.
Bottom line in the 1st Century it is clear this sort of thing was held at the city gate in public so that the judges were prone to fairness.
The governing body is in no way following the scriptures as it comes to judging, like zero chance.
..btw how many ppl did Jesus disfellowship? If this was so critical why don't we have an example of him disfellowshipping someone??????

@Colin I think the best advice anyone can give you at this stage is to fact check. Like I said earlier do it on your own. Make it firm in your mind then you can move on. I put this off and it caused me to just hang around. Now I regret it with all my being. I wasted so much time and well lots of cash. Makes me sick.
Again though do the fact checking yourself. In other words don't take anyone's word for it. Dig into it yourself.
A couple things that really opened my eyes. These are just the topics you'll need to do the research.
- How many prophecies and dates related to Christ's presence, and Armageddon. it is said the org is progressive but if you didn't believe these dates or the overlapping generations of today even though in the case of years ago were proven wrong would that be o.k.? No you'd likely be disfellowshipped for thinking and sharing your opinion.
- The bible itself, when were the books written. How many books has the JW bible excluded. When were the books canonized (when did they become part of the bible). you'll be shocked at some of the answers to these questions. At least I was.
- Bible translation. Just look into Romans 10:13 and 10:9. The same Greek word is used in both. The root is Kyrios. Yet when you look in the Interlinear bible somehow the formula the NWT says it uses is not kept. What is the explanation in the footnote in the Interlinear for Romans 10:9? go take a look.
- Investigate the endless false assumptions that simply went along with the bad science of the day. Wouldn't God know these things are false? Why would he direct his channel to believe transplants were cannibalism. Why would he deceive his followers into thinking he lived in a constellation for example?
- The blood issue. Why are sisters allowed to breast feed if we are not to eat blood? If anything is "eating" blood it is for sure breast feeding. The Watchtower never touches it. Were those that were disfellowshipped for taking blood fractions to save their lives automatically reinstated when the governing body realized they screwed up in the early 2000's?
- Is anyone EVER auto-reinstated when they stood firm that the governing body was wrong and disfellowshipped for it only to have the governing body finally admit they were wrong? Remember we're not talking about going to the convention you're assigned to we're talking about issues that are related to your very life!!!
Those are just a few things. The rabbit hole is literally endless. Crack the books and you'll have zero doubts when done.

I conclude evolution is guided
by KateWild inyour qualifications are way above mine so i'd love to hear more about the specifics of what you have researched and how that supports the existence of a deity.
k99, i am not really convinced that you're interested in my conclusions.
in nature amino acids formed to then form dna.

Thanks for proving my point @OrphanCrow you have no answer on the topic so you try to redirect like every other person that doesn't want to see the words come across their lips.
I get it. you guys just don't want to say "I don't know"
check we're done....

@OrphanCrow said several times I'm all ears on how the origin of life started. Happy to listen to anything anyone has to say. But alas no one has said much, just that I'm stupid.
so here's your chance enlighten me. What proof do you have that supports an evolutionary happenstance that is the origin of life? Go

Colin start with the bible...
The NWT is well not a bible. There are so many distortions and poorly translated versions it really was eye opening for me.
Look into the original text, there are many many mis translations that change the meaning for the benefit of the JW narrative. I can give you examples if you wish but I would suggest doing your own more meaningful research :)

yeah yeah "i clearly don't understand" I got it I'm stupid for wanting to know the source of it all so that I can make an educated decision.
Personally I think it IS stupid for example to pull a quarter-sized piece of scrap metal out of a pile and then claim everyone else is stupid because they don't clearly see that this metal with not a mark on it is from a Solstice GXP Coupe Turbo.
Seriously it's insane.
I'll be first to admit there's a ton of evidence to support the theory of evolution but that doesn't automatically mean all the answers have been explained. This very origin issue perplexed Darwin which is seen by his many comments on the matter to his colleges in letters. If it was good enough to bug Chuck it's good enough for me.
Until we solve this issue it is not possible to make any absolute statement. I don't see where it is a crime to want more proof. To know what the biochemical charge was (yes cofty scientists absolutely use this term) is important.
If your aim is to force people to accept your opinion and you say oh don't worry about how ti all started just believe what I say the result came from, at least with this guy, you're wasting your time.
I want the f-ing proof period.

@cofty hence "bacteria like" but maybe you missed the "like". And yes as a point of reference to make others understand it has been said this way before. Nothing new and certainly not from me.
Again the constant shots to intelligence "don't copy paste". I'm not a dumb person. Disagreeing with you doesn't make me less intelligent than you.
Yes "codons" simply a typo but you had to point that out, again a shot at intelligence.
At no point have I insulted your intelligence in this discussion. Yet you have sent a barrage of subtle shots my way.
For the record I've worked on in whole or part on apps you literally use on your phone/computer. Rather than insult me perhaps you can just say thanks sheesh. Enough with the barbs.
Not contradicting myself but say what you like. I've asked 10 times for you to explain the catalyst, the biochemical "charge" and yes "charge" is used by plenty of professors so maybe you don't understand that word but they certainly do.
Sure on the paper. Whose the independent party assessing the validity and worth of these papers? You're writing one too right? May have to make some time to do it. Not something I'd write in an hour.
I would ask one last time. What caused the biochemical event which made life and evolution even possible? Simple question but you've never even tried to answer it.

Complaining over post dislikes / downvotes
by Simon inlet's be clear: people have the right to like or dislike what they want - that is why the option is there.
as long as they are not doing it in a malicious way to retaliate or game the system, there is no policing the votes.
if you get a down-vote, live with it.

@cofty is right on this one. society is too soft in my opinion.
The result of change is often proceeded by debate and openness.
