I always felt uneasy to throw away books of any kind but didn't have hesitation with any WT related pubblication. Haven't owned one in 15 years.

January 2013 warns parents to resist contact with df'd children again
by stuckinlimbo insee page 15-16. full of "straw men" like:.
* do not blame yourself it is the child that jehovah blames - parents do not care whose fault it is they just want their child not to be killed by god.
* it is ok for parents to hope their df'd child returns - was anybody really asking if that was wrong?.

This is interesting and I want to see how my parents will go about it, seeing they need me to help them financially. If they stop behaving as decent parents and start shunning again I have no reason in sending them money :D IT's already been 2 months since I've heard from my mom and last convo was about the WT-UN relationship, so I'm expecting not to hear from her in a long time now as I struck a nerve. The WT might have just saved me a few thousands $ a year who would have thought so?!

When I saw LOTR at the theatre I positively fell asleep in all 3, but that was before I met my husband who then educated me on lots of stuff and since then I love them...Just saw the Hobbit last weekend btw, good fun also.
Star Trek I love, both the old series the movies and my favourite is DS9.
Most boring for me to watch is cricket. Won't sit to watch that on tv or live even if I got paid for it.
2nd most boring piece of tv are CM Punk speeches on WWE. Oh I so wanna give him a taste of my knuckles.

Fear
by Skbj ini have a question for people who have left the dubs.. do you now feel fearful?
growing up as jw they taught me that having fear of god or my parents was a good thing, that there is a good type of fear that stops you from doing something that up set the people you love.
i had a conversation with someone and it made me think.

@ Phizzy Gosh you did think it through more than me when I was a JW. I never felt unworthy of the new system back when I believed in it, but never had fear of God good or bad fear that could have been. To me, seeing that we were told love was the greatest of God's qualities I figured what's to fear about a lovable being. Then years later when I was out of the dubs and free to satisfy my full curiosity about other religions and realized how bible stories were more or less all depicted in other major religions, that's when I started to unmask the reality of things.
@ Amelia I hear what you're saying. I have been through very dark times in life too, where it comes to finance and health but even during those times I did not feel the need to call on a god to draw strength or courage.
I don't know your situation so please don't feel I'm telling you what to do, I'm just saying what worked for me when things don't go the way I need them to go. I get pen and paper and draw a plan of action to get me out of the proverbial sh*t. Then when I do that I see that a lot of the stress I was causing myself was emotional. Over the years I've learned to delay my emotional reaction to problems even if it's only a couple of seconds delay, so that I give time to my logic to kick in and usually helps me concentrating on finding a solution rather than how stressed it makes me feel. Also I've learned to enjoy small things in life and find things to be happy about even in bad situations. Gosh I'm not excessively optimistic, I'm far too much of a realist to be that, but it definitely has helped to stay positive when facing problems. With regards to you, the positive side is that at least you are out of the illusion and late is better than never. If you had been still in you would have still had to face the same issues so why not use the mind frame you used to have when you were a JW but instead of see god as the answer to your troubles, see yourself.
One thing that I have noticed and despise about the WT is that with the things it teaches it takes away self reliance on people. They brainwash people so much that without god we cannot do anything, we cannot succeed, we cannot make right decisions, etc so when they get out, many suffer the psychological trauma of that.
Those who come out need thinking rehabilitation on this particular aspect, to start believing in ourselves either again or for the first time in our lives. So please believe in yourself because trust me when you start doing that everything changes, the way you look at things, the way you find solutions to issues and you find a strength you didn't know or believe you could find.

Do People Believe We Are Condemned B/c of Adam and Eve?
by Band on the Run ini find the notion that we inheirited sin through adam and eve to be a quaint, silly notion.
if you believe in the power of god, why would god create such a flawed creation?
few people believe the stories in genesis.

@U-raven...that's true one needs faith to believe certain things, and I defintely don't possess it.
Why faith has to be about mystery of things we cannot see? I don't get it. If God gave the bible for people to find "salvation" why make stuff complicated?
It's like those who refuse to acknoledge they are together with the wrong person and believe that living in a difficult relationship and arguing all the time is what love is, when reality is, love is simple, you only realize it when you meet the right person and when you see that everything that was difficult or impossible with others now it's natural.
To me truth is the same way. It's not tortuos, it's not complex, it's not hard to understand and to believe. Faith on the contrary is complex, demanding, and inexplicable.
Forget for a second what the bible reppresent to those who have faith, imagine it didn't existed, that religions never existed, and your neighbour came told you this story, you'd tell the person they were crazy, so why is that we so believe something so much that we put faith in it just because it's written on some ancient text? Adam and Eve story in today's law would fit an entrapment scenario. Couldn't even stand in a court of law.

god spoke to adam and eve back at gen 1:28 and told them to have kids, so right from the start before satan spoke to them they did have kids in mind
U-raven, we cannot assume what's on people's mind, but let's give them the benefit of doubt, just because one has something in mind doesn't mean one KNOWS how it feels or how their thinking changes.
I haven't got kids therefore I cannot fully understand or be in the frame of mind when taking decisions about my future or my family's future, same as a person who actually has kids, I can try but by no means I can 100% understand why they do the things they do. I see it all the time with my friends who have kids, we are in complete different planets when comes to frame of mind, decision process and so on.
Did these two even understand what death was? Had they seen it in some animals? Were animals not perfect too? If they were perfect too like those we see in WT magazines, animals shouldn't die either...so how would A&E could they understand really death, if they hadn't experienced it?

Yes U-raven he told them they would die on that day. THEY not all of their descendents. They didn't even have kids at that point.
He told them the short of it, that to me that is not the small print, the small print comes after they ate Gen 3: 16-24.
I see all my friends who have kids especially little ones who constantly make decisions based on their kids. (too often if you ask me) but point it, as a parent is normal to think and want the best for your children, to sacrifice your needs and wants to fulfill theirs. I wonder if Adam and Eve would have had a family at that point instead of being just two of them and knew the real consequences of disobeying, would have they done something different? One reason out of many why this story stinks to me, always has. Because if we...with technically 6,000 years of imperfection on our books since this supposidly happen can think and have instinct in protecting our kids in such manner wouldn't two people who were perfect think and feel even more than us? Imo they would.

For sake of argument I'll suppose the story's true .
What I find also ridiculous in the Adam & Eve's story is they were just forbidden. They were not being informed of what today we call the small print.
God could have at least told them "Yo if ya'll disobey me, this what's gonna happen: XYZ" but no, they just got told you can't take that, that's mine. Then he let them sin and put the curse afterwards.
Plus cursing someone that's so gypsy and withcy, that makes me laugh even more.
Even as imperfect parents we tell kids the consequences of doing something they aren't supposed to, wouldn't you expect it much more from a perfect "Father" as god should be?
I wonder if had they known the small print would they have still sinned?

What do you mean?! I ALWAYS go to the beach after service and wear long pants and button up shirts while I play a game in the sand with my family! Sometimes I wear button up long sleeve shirts too!
by Crisis of Conscience inthe wts likes to imply how jws should dress in and outside of the hall.
you always want to set an example.. so i couldn't help but share this beauty in the january 15th, 2013, study edition of the watchtower.

that's sooo funny!
What's next? JW sisters should wear a burkini like Muslims? I bet you if they could they would make them.
I grew up in a beach town so beachwear was often a conversation, and there was one girl who was a couple of years younger than me, her dad would not let her wear a swimming suit, always in T-shirt and shorts smh...he must love seeing that photo now.

No I don't Adam & Eve it....sorry couldn't resist to a little cockney reference :P
Don't believe in Adam & Eve to start with, and that we are condemned because of someone's behaviour i don't believe either.
I agree with EP if a God knew the future there is no free will, but then I also believe in fate and not fate in that romantic way...gosh I'm possibly the least romantic woman on the planet...but...Let me explain: sometime I reflect on my life with all goods and bads I went through and I draw in my mind a kind of path and I see that if A,B, or C etc had not happened in that way at that very time, then I probably I wouldn't be where I am today. Kinda reminds me the Adjustment Bureau's movie, don't wanna bore people with my stories but I've had seriously spooky things happening in my life that left utterly baffled at time of occurance, than a long time later something happened or someone told me a fact that was the answer to the initial event, so after the initial shock I came to the conclusion that at least for me, my life is destined. I don't believe in ripetitive coincidences, that's what all good criminal investigators will tell you.
I would like to mention something seen previous posts touched on being worthy.
Something I was thinking about today. So I'm very active on Twitter, many tweets where the usual self motivational quotes you know the ones...And I thought: humans spend so much time learning, writing quoting phrases that are self-motivational (let's not even go into the book reading) that show you how much you're worth so that you can be a better person and on the other hand put themselves down by accepting that they are unworthy through believing in Adam & Eve's alleged sin. Or believing that they need a mediator to pray to whatever God is that they believe in because they are unworthy otherwise to be heard. I find it a contraddiction. Why try to pick yourself up for then knock yourself down? Idk, it puzzles me.
