Deluded Cult Speak By Jehovah's Witnesses
by BlindersOff1 inplease give any examples you've heard of jws verbalizing cognitive dissonance , delusional reasoning .
in other words crazy jw logic .like.
one jw mother recently told her son " even if you did have proof it wasn't the truth, i wouldn't want to read it".
-

My mother closes every argument with the point of " she must be right because she has faith. I Don't" My heart is blinded by Satan....recently she doesn't even name it, it's hilarious...last time we went into religion's subject was like watching the movie "The Village" where they called the bs monsters from the woods "those we don't speak about" LOL. She calls Satan every other word but by name. Like she's even sinning by naming him and I tell her if you want to discuss something call things by their names no..."He who runs this system of things" *deep roll of eyes*

What are the 3 most unusual things you have done?
by Lady Lee inok so we have all be jws so that isn't unusual.
supply pictures if you can.. i have ridden an elephant.
ok so it was at the zoo but it was still an elephant.

If only people who applied for jobs could write this kinda stuff instead of boring work experience...wouldn't make it more interesting reading CVs? Lee, love your pic of the Elephant riding, when I was in Thailand I got to bathe an elephant at one of the sancturies they are such gracious animals.
Lots of really cool stuff from everyone. I've got far too many so I'll pick my 3 favourite events of my life (besides meeting my husband ofc)
1) going out at sea off the Argentinian coast for whale watching during mating season
2) bathe in volcanic mud near Cartagena in Colombia
3) celebrate the best day of my working career through an unexpected business meeting with Jay Z (have met many celebs but he's the only one that got me weak at my knees like a 14 years old girl lol)
Needless to say if I had been in the borg I would have probably not done any of these experiences.

At what age do you think people should start dating? What age did you start?
by MsGrowingGirl20 inhey guys!
i hope that everyone is still holding on amidst all the struggles.. i know that there are parents, older ones, middle age and younger ones here.. sooo, my question isss- what age did you start dating and what age do you truly believe people should start dating?
and why?.

can we please define dating? I'm always having troubles with what different people mean, and are we talking dates with other JW or with anyone?
Are we talking dating, just hanging out with someone we fancy, or are we talking dating as in getting sex involved?
Managed to briefly date a JW when I was 19, he was 29. The fact that he was older and nod as dumb as others made briefly be interested. Although we met in group we also met in normal one-to-one dates. I say briefly because we met 2months before I emigrated to another country and after I moved he started doing my head in so had to cut his ass loose.
Now if we're talking about anyone I'll happily say 16. Unsupervised, in fact my parents had no clue...oh the blessing to have at least 'some' family who isn't JW!! About what age is right...I haven't got kids so it's hard to say but if I get a daughter that's anything like me I will let her date probably from when she 15, my husband is saying the word never lol we'll have to compromise....seriously though, depends from the person and who they are wanting to date. I will not be alienating my daughter or son like my parents did with me when it came to the romance/sex issue. Making it a taboo like the JW do is just wrong.

Should i go?
by MsGrowingGirl20 inso, a good friend of mine, a pentecostal christian, invited me to go to a retreat with her church.
we're the same age-19 years.
we were friends before i became a witness and she was always patient and caring with me especially throughout my arrogant spell as a witness.

Gee, if I could be 19 again I would NOT be wasting 3 days in a religious retreat. My suggestion: make better use of yours and your friend's time and go to a music festival instead. Better time and money spent :)

maybe you can identify the remaining key people on the top left side of jesus.we will have a wonderful talk about how jesus gave his life for all humankind thus opening the doors for everlasting life.you can all go to our official website www.jw.org and find the nearest kh where you live, under the tab about us and then go to meetings.you and your family are all invited and it is free.

better things to do like celebrate my grams birthday. She'll be 85. These are the times when I feel especially blessed to live in a country where JW can.t go knocking doors and try invite me to this.
I never understood why (providing it happened, I wasn't there so can't say for sure) Jesus did this 'before' he died and not after? My logic would incline me to do such a covenant after I sacrificed myself and resurrected, how can one go tell people: y'all have to do this to remember what I haven't done yet,i.e. died. Not sure if I'm explaining myself well but it's like if the west decided to celebrate a memorial for D-day prior to them reaching the shore or defeating the nazis.

Anyone with Happy Memories from being a JW born in, please post here....
by SkyGreen infirst up, happy new year .
hi everyone, ok i guess this is controversial, but im doing it as therapy for me - so im not bitter about the way i was raised.
plus i want to see if i can be the op of an "epic thread"!!.

I think SkyGreen you've been blessed to have been born in a nice family regardless of them being JW.
I have lots of relatives non-JW who have long happy marriages and had lots of kids 4-5 on average all of whom have grown and had good lives, married good people and are happy without ever studying with JWs. I grew up in a rural area and was blessed that in my school there weren't really problems of drugs whilst some of my wordly friends did use drugs later in life (they also stopped) the vast majority of my friends especially girls have grown onto being normal girls who married some way before I did have kids and seem to have fairly happy lives so I don't think that JW have a particularly higher rate of happy families, it's more down to the nature of the people themselves.
My happiest times when I was little were when I used to go stay during the summer holidays with my grandmother who is catholic. She was (still is) an old school woman, that taught me manners, respect, keep a straight posture and all those good stuff the old generation would teach a child. She would take me to the beach every day, sat on the front of her bike, she'd make me treats for afternoon snack and we would spend endless hours playing cards. Then when I was older she'd take me on saturday nights to the ballroom with her, she dances a mean tango too :D Love my grand ma

Happy New Year from Lee
by Lady Lee inwell it has been an interesting year for me; some heartache; some growth; and a lot of change.
regardless of where we are on our journey away from the jehovahs witnesses we will be confronted with opportunities to learn and grow.
we dont know where life will take us.

What evidence is there for Jesus (NOT USING THE BIBLE)?
by punkofnice ini have often wondered if there is any actual archealogical evidence that jesus existed other than the claims of the bible.. i don't want to go down the route of 'you can't prove he didn't exist' as this is tiresome.
or 'well pontius pilate existed we found a stone with his name on so it follows jesus existed!
' that won't cut it.
