Kingdom Hall Attenders: Consider Stopping the Use of Loaded Language
by OnTheWayOut init's been a long time since i attended, but i understand that many of you still go to the kingdom hall for your various reasons.. a huge thing that helped me in my mentally breaking from their beliefs was to stop using their terms that put you, virtually automatically, into their thought mode.. using terms like "the truth," jw's feel special about themselves and this helps them separate themselves from "the world.
" by incorporating loaded language, jw's learn not to think, but merely to memorize words and phrases instead of analyzing a situation.. the reasons someone misses meetings is because they are "spiritually weak.
" they might be involved in "worldly thinking.".

It was a lot of fun for me hearing them use the phrase "according to our current understanding" and yet "truth" being applied to them exclusively. -

Luke 15:4 Has this ever happened in your congregation?
by pleaseresearch inluke 15:4. new international version.
"suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them.
doesn't he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?.

I have seen just the opposite.
In a wedding feast, when the elders saw one lost sheep (D/F), they created a pandemonium over it, arguing with the host (JW) that that the lost sheep should be asked to leave or else the whole of JW invitees would leave.

I need food for thought..
by raven inhi friends,it has been 20 years that i've slaved for the wt and through out the past couple of years i could feel myself fighting an urge to accept that something was not right.
i fought it off for so long only for it to resurface frequently throughout my years of pioneering, assembly/convention parts, & speaking with people about the "truth", slaving and giving to try to be a "spiritual person" but in reality i was not spiritual because spirituality (according to the org) is doing all of the things they want you to do.
which then will label you as spiritual... no !!!

Hello Raven,
I built up from my initial doubt on "who is the faithful and discreet slave?"--a question that is found in an illustration Jesus used to highlight the preparedness of all Christians, but JWs have made this verse as a basis for God's organization on earth in the "last days."
If this is how they understand Bible, one can imagine their understanding about other verses.

Jehovah’s Witnesses’ lock down deal for $700M Brooklyn plot
by defender of truth inthe jehovah’s witnesses appear to have achieved a handshake with their bffs: jared kushner, aby rosen and lvwrk.. the pricing is roughly $700 million for the witnesses’ 733,000-square-foot world headquarters at 25-30 columbia heights and a 1.1-million-square-foot as-of-right development site at 85 jay st.. the same group purchased 1.2 million square feet in dumbo heights for $375 million in 2013 from the witnesses and are now leasing to such companies as wework and etsy.. tech outfits have been circling the brooklyn waterfront properties — and the large “watchtower” on the sign could someday be swapped for a name like “facebook.”.
bob knakal of cushman & wakefield has been running the sale for the witnesses, who are moving to warwick, ny.. multiple contracts were handed out for the properties and, so far, all are unsigned.. there has been interest globally, and local bidders have included l&l holding, east end capital, equity one and vornado realty trust.
when reached, the parties declined comment.. .

This reminds me of the real import of the word sin. The Greek word for “sin” is hamartia, an archery term for “missing the mark.” It carries the thought of an arrow missing the target and wandering.
There was a purchase-spree in the beginning, and now there is a sale-spree.

True God would not seek praise nor worship from us
by elbib inwhen asked: “why there is so much of suffering here if god exists?” buddha responded with silence because he knew the following:.
1) even though living in heaven, anyone can live as though he lives in hell and vice versa which means how a person thinks is the key.
experience show that whatever a person does with 100% involvement (totality = beauty), it is like he lives in heaven.

Cold Steel,
Matter is not complicated; it is human writers who made it complicated. Jesus made it very simple: “Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.” (Mathew 5:48) He was talking to people who knew very well that they would die some day in the future. Hence death is not something that makes you imperfect. According to Jesus, if you imitate our Heavenly Father in His unconditional love, you are perfect. This is what the preceding verses of Mat 5:48 imply. And when you manifest unconditional love, you are the beneficiary—you feel you are already in heaven; and you never look for gratitude from the recipient of your unconditional love. You continue to feel good even when recipient of your unconditional love turns against you with ingratitude.

Heaven,
This is called "secular humanism" in which one naturally feels to love another just because of the unmistakable realization that all are human beings--it is a love for its own sake (not because somebody exists to force us to do so, not because of the thought of getting something in return....There is a great feeling when you do good for its own sake)

Cold Steel,
Fall is not a one-time event nor a universal event. It happens with many, and it does not happen with many.
Feeling more important than others is the fall and this is the root cause of all problems. If one refuses to feel more important than others, he would remain as firm as a mountain against fall. And refusal to feel more important than others is very much possible "if one wants to" even now.
Interestingly, if one feels more important than others, his children may or may not copy that attitude. (Contrast Romans 5:12)

Island Man,
"the desire to be thanked and praised stems from pride and egotism" is absolutely right. Hence God of the Bible is the creation of man--the same puny human who invented the story of Lot's having sex with his own daughters ... David's adultery and murder yet being forgiven whereas a man who gathered firewood on Sabbath was given capital punishment ...

Thoughts
by thinker11 inas much as i want to believe in the bible and wish for a god that is watching over us and love us; i find it difficult to comprehend that a loving god will erase mankind with fireballs, earthquakes, and kill childrens, mothers, and fathers who refused to believe in the bible.
and i can’t help but to take their side in all these.
i mean: what has god really done to show that he is love and that he exists and is watching how we act.

When you take the details, it is digestible whereas the substratum of the Bible makes no sense. When Jerusalem was captured and its temple was burned by pagan king in 586 BCE (or 607?), it was a theological crisis for the Jews. Then a concept of Messiah (King-Priest) who will restore everything was evolved. When the messiah was murdered, it was further evolved into a teaching of ransom (as a sacrifice arranged by the “loving” Heavenly Father for the atonement of sins of mankind). Not a true picture of God Almighty

The very fact that life exists in one part of the universe should necessarily mean that life could be found in other parts too, and there are many universes too.
opusdei1972's question is very relevant!
