birth dates can be interesting in other ways as well. My sister had her first child on March 3. I had my first child on March 3. When my child turned 30, he was 30 on 03/03/03 I don't think that kind of number line up happens often.

when my husband was convinced to be baptized back in '74, the jw who studied with my husband went with him to meet with the elders.
when the elder asked for my husband's birthday for his records, he said nov 12 and the jw says "not my birthday, he wants yours".
my husband says, "it is mine".

Here they had the same birthday, even the same year. When I told that JW that they shared their birthday with someone famous, Charles Manson, (LOL) He said to me "Who is that? I have noticed that a lot of JWs know little of what is outside their JW world.
Who do you share your birthday with?
I seem to share mine with half of the Green Bay Packers. If there were anything to astrology, then I should be rich.

Welcome! I
I am from Wisconsin but escaped the cold and cheese 4 years ago. What part of Wisconsin?
I am from the SE area.
my little family of xjws are thinking of moving to texas, kind of looking at the area north of houston.

I guess I need the information then on the Dallas Apostofest. My husband and I have tentative plans to visit Texas in April, but have not chosen any dates yet.
All the information so far has been really helpful. We are not "city" people and would not live in Houston. We are looking at the area of the Woodlands and north to Conroe and that surrounding area north of Houston, but nothing is for sure yet. I want to see green again, and I don't mean these damn cactus. Anything that grows in Arizona, no matter how pretty, is nasty to get close to. Everything bites back.
KLS- move back to Wisconsin? I put in my 50+ years there. We sold the snow boots and snow shovels. Don't have to shovel sun shine. Don't have to worry about slipping on the ice in the drive way and knocking myself out either. Yep, plenty of memories of Wisconsin. I don't need any more.

Now this is the kind of information I do not get from web sites. Very interesting. It seems one cannot get away from allergies. The air is much better in the higher elavations, but then either there are no jobs or housing is way to expensive.
Taxes are low in Arizona, but the schools are bad. When half the kids do not graduate, the crime rate is high. Car insurance is outrageous here. A few weeks after we moved here our car was stolen. We were in a gated apartment complex. That is a joke. They jump the fence and drive right out the gate. Everyone has Security Doors on their houses because of the high rate of home invasions.
I do not want to live "in the city", just close enough to commute if I have to. Does anyone know about the Conroe area north of Houston?
Oh, and I want pine trees.

LOL! My friend back in Wisconsin is also moving to TX. She is also an XJW Her son is in the Secret Service stationed at Bush's ranch. So she is looking to move to Waco. I would not want to be any where near that place. I know she did not vote for Bush. Don't know if her son did.

We have done our research, but I think you are right that info from the residents is the best. For us, schools, jobs low crime and reasonable housing costs are at the top of the list. Wisconsin was very humid. I do not like humidity, but to get away from it, you have to go to the desert and that is the only good thing about it here. I thought my allergies would be better here, but they are terrible because the air quality is horrible.
What do you like about Austin?

Is there anything I should know that is good or bad about that area? Ultimately it will depend on where my son gets a job as a computer engineer. My husband is with Home Depot so he can pretty much go anywhere. We moved from Wisconsin to Arizona and we are not happy here. We do not want to make another mistake. Any input is much appreciated.

ajwrb member sam believer has brought the recent death of a jehovah's witness infant to my.
attention.
this story has been carried by the cbs dallas affiliate and you should view the story here:.
As stated in the news article, adults can make these decisions for themselves, children need to be allowed to grow up to make these decisions for themselves.
In 1971 I was just starting to study with the JWs when a JW family in the area had triplets that needed blood. Of course they refused. Court ordered was gotten and blood was given to the weakest one, who died because it had taken too long. The JW spin of course was that the one who got blood died and the two who didn't survived.
The interesting thing is, the two who survived have left the cult some years ago. So now as adults, what would their decisions be if they needed blood?
Oh, and when I got to know the family some years later, I asked her about it and she said that she had been told she was having twins, so she still had the two so she did not miss the third one. Cold hearted bunch, they are.
