Oldest verifiable person ever was Jeanne Calment. 1875-1997. I remember her starting to get quite a bit of publicity in the mid 1990's and thinking how cool it would be if someone who was already an adult at the end of the 1800's lived to see the start of the 21st century. She died a little over 2 years short of that mark. She had memories of meeting Van Gogh when she was a teenager.
At age 90 she did the equivalent of a reverse mortgage on her flat. The man agreed to pay her until she she died upon which he would inherit the place. Must have seemed a no brainer to him. Make payments for just a couple of years and receive a paid off home. How much longer is it likely for a 90 year old to live? She lived for 32 more years. He died before her, still making monthly payments and was never able to occupy the place.

Yeah. And why did he create aquatic mammals?
And why did he create exposed testicles, a backwards retina and arteries that meander?
And why did he combine the reproductive system with the waste elimination system?
Maybe, just maybe...... -

Naked in the New World
by neat blue dog ini know there was a painting of a woman being resurrected naked and someone coming to greet her holding clothes, but what about after perfection, after the thousand years?.
the idea is we're supposed to achieve what adam lost by returning to human perfection, so wouldn't that include not wearing clothes, especially as the act of adam and eve hiding in the trees and sewing fig leaves signified shame, and imperfection passed on through the reproductive organs.
has the wt ever addressed this?

Welcome to the forum, Bettyhumpter, are you an ExJW?
Yes. 4th generation. Began having doubts as a teenager. Knew it was complete nonsense by age 18 and was completely away by age 20. It was a 2 year fade mainly because of friends and family ties. Those 2 years after high school I was making friends outside of the organization while still trying to maintain some ties within but by 20 I knew the jig was up.
I never got disfellowshipped. I don't live in the same city I grew up in and I guess I never gave them any reason (that they knew of) to pursue it.
About half my family are JW's and half not. I rarely see or hear from the ones who are still in. On the occasions I've had to go back to that town i've had interactions with them and they've been cordial. A couple of uncles are elders. I guess after 2 decades i'm almost seen as a never was a JW and what would be the point of pursuing the matter. I don't bring up religion and they don't either.
I know other former JW's have had a rougher time of it. Perhaps my family was slightly less hardnosed or maybe they liked me too much....lol.
But the ones who are in a very much still in. Speaking at conventions, elder'ing, pioneering etc. -

"Well that would tie into the theory I've also heard that the water canopy would go back up, making it warm worldwide."
Yeah, but why go through the motions of putting a water canopy up? If you're God and magically making a water canopy stay in orbit, why not just skip it and snap your fingers and make it the same temp everywhere because you said so? The water canopy is just hand waving to explain magic. Like 'Pattern Buffer' in Star Trek or 'Midichlorians' in Star Wars. :)

lol. I guess he'd have to use his God Magic to alter physics just on earth so that the climate was the same worldwide. It's a pretty narrow band of geography where humans could go naked year round. What parts of the Earth get more sunlight would be irrelevant. The Ocean currents making Europe a friendly climate instead of frozen like central Canada would be irrelevant. It would be a completely non-understandable world except for 'God did it'.

I was told by those that were older and grown up that when the millennium was over we would be perfect and so have no bodily shame and would not wear clothes.

Can TiKToK spy on you?
by Fisherman inseveral years ago i was having a conversation with a neighbor inside a store and he told me that he was in the park one day with a friend who was then struck by lightning and after a few moments after being struck they walked away from there and while they were walking away my neighbor told me that his friend got hit by lightning a second time ki&&ing him.
after telling me this story lightning struck and we heard thunder.

I've never bought a smart phone, and that is due to a combination of several reasons.
I don't know how you've accomplished this, but I salute you. I miss the world of not having several mild anxiety attacks each day, every time I hear the ding of a text message. (it's usually someone from work asking a pointless question to cover themselves. Sorta like email but much worse ). You can't even ignore your friends if in a bad mood because "I know you got my message, you always check your phone, so dont act like you didnt" :(

In a number of respects I think my life was better in 1995 than it is now. I also think the internet was better then
I agree. I miss the 90's internet. I remember the naive excitement of first getting online. Everyone will have a world of knowledge at their fingertips. Not taking into consideration that it would become less a Library of Alexandria and more a town square for conspiracy nutters and narcissists sharing pictures of what they had for lunch.

The elephant in the room post
by joey jojo inis it ok to talk about the ongoing post about 'he who must not ne named"?.
my perspective: im a neutral observer.
i dont know lloyd evans, im not an active member of any ex-jw group (except this one i guess).

I don't care for what the guy did. But its hilarious how some of the same people clutching their pearls over Lloyd Evans (an unknown YouTuber outside of exjw world) and calling him an immoral grifter....are passionately in support of a certain other immoral grifter with blonde hair and orange skin .

@waton
I dont expect to meet Vulcans on Europa. But maybe something like tube worms that don't rely on photosynthesis would be amazing.
