Smoking gun GB can’t get out of this one
by Mikejw inhere in 2022 if anyone says anything against the vaccines even a little bit you are almost apostate.. someone once mentioned all vaccinated sports stars collapsing and someone else said not to speak badly about the gb or by extension jehovah.. the gb can’t get out of this one, it’s gone too far.
it’s now the case that if you speak against the vaccines you are speaking against the gb and by extension jehovah .

Do you think the JW's ever will or could go the Mormon route?
by BettyHumpter inwhat i mean is the mormon's have their own set of wacky beliefs and are a pretty insular group, engage in a form of door to door ministry but don't discourage higher education.
in fact, the handful of mormons i went to school with were pushed to excel academically and go to college.
yeah there are ex mormons but for a great many, going to university doesn't turn them into atheists.

"There are various factions of Mormons, just like there are multiple factions of Millerites. Ba’hai, Seventh Day Adventist, JW, Bible Students etc are to Millerism what LDS, FLDS, Firstborn, Reorganized etc are for Mormons."
I'm talking about the main branch. The one with the giant temple in Salt Lake City and the ones who founded and now sponsor Brigham Young University.
I agree that the FLDS crazies who live out in the desert with 50 wives dressed like little house on the prairie probably dont go to college ;) -

Why would JWs want to go the Mormon route. They already have a bigger more engaged following.
Only if there's money in it for the GB(TM).

1985 and baptism...I wish I had read this before today
by enoughisenough ini am posting a link as to being legally bound to jw rules at time of baptism.
i only did a quick skim, but what i gathered is interesting, and what it says about 1985 may be of use to some hoping to just fade and not be bothered.
in 1985, the questions were changed at baptism for legal purposes so they could have causation to defend themselves should you decide to sue for whatever reason.

"watched a video the other day of an old sister, who didn't go to the invited judicial meeting and later learned she had been df. The way I read it is those who got baptized 1985 and after unquittedly accepted a legal agreement with the JW-accepting the practices of JW".
I'm still not getting it. What legal remedy did a pre-1985 person have? And why would it matter? You can't sue someone into being friendly with you... -

What were they afraid of being sued for? It's not illegal to cut people out of your life. Was it the public announcement part? Defamation of character or something?
They don't care about the age of majority. They just want numbers and slaves.
They may not care, but that doesn't change the fact that a minor cant enter into a legal contract. I think. -

I see. Yeah.
That makes this whole thing even weirder. Why did he even include the sentence "of those I met in Thailand, sex workers or otherwise?" Playing devil's advocate here...but assume he said that only to mean "I went to bars in Thailand and it's entirely possible that I said hello to someone who may have been a sex worker".
Still why would you even include that? If he had just left that comment out, all of this would have just been possibly a few people feeling it may not be right to use Patreon donations to fund a vacation. Probably very few would have cared. I know I have a few Podcasts that I donate to (completely unrelated to JW) and I don't expect or care to see an expense report from them. If the content started to be no good in relation to what I donate, i'd just stop.
LOL. I'm picturing Lloyd on the stand in a courtroom and prior to his testimony his lawyer had briefed him: "Short yes or no answers when possible. Dont perjure yourself, but also don't add additional details that don't directly apply to the question" And Lloyd just starts rambling on and on while his attorney slumps lower and lower in his chair. -

I have not kept up with this whole Lloyd thing, but have picked up a few tidbits.
1.) He admittedly had a habit of sexting people in online chatrooms and forums
2.) He has admittedly paid for prostitutes on several occasions.3.) He took a trip to Thailand alone and there is a photo of him sitting at a table with a woman.
Is everyone just assuming that because 1 and 2 are true he must have been in Thailand as a sex tourist? Because in the tweet above, he appears to be denying that. Has he admitted elsewhere that he was indeed in Thailand for that purpose contradicting the above denial? -

They study biology, philosophy, physics etc. but still manage to keep believing in seer stones and a magical tophat, the planet Kolob and Jesus visiting the native americans. Cognitive dissonance and family ties are pretty powerful.
The main roadblock for the JW's is they'd have to lighten up on the 'end is coming soon' rhetoric. But on the other hand, engineers and doctors and lawyers have alot more money for the contribution box. -
