  i just tried to go to the site and there is a goodbye message.

  i was a member there since 2010. i was really surprised.

  i had just started posting there again after being away for a while.

  i am sure that after the dust of the jwr shutdown has settled, you will find this to be a good new home.. i would like to apologize for the sudden closure of jwr.

  Tallula! Always be a badass in my mind! How are you? Yup, I should have been copying the posts I was interested in keeping. But truthfully, it never occurred to me that someone would just pull the plug and walk off. Why would it? Who in their right mind would do such a thing?

  Mickey Mouse! I don't recall being much of a problem for JWR. There were times when my post turned out to be considered too controversial or inappropriate for the site, and I agreed with that after a mod pointed it out. We're talking twice out of several hundred posts. The mod team were top notch and hard working. I'm sure it felt like a thankless job. That being said, however, and with all due respect to Tallula, Rifter's act here was simply childish. I'm glad I was given the opportunity to voice my displeasure. If this bothers you, believe me when I say it bothered the hundreds of people who were disrespected and disappointed! Seriously! I have no idea what prompted such a rash decision, but I'm absolutely positive it wasn't that the site became stagnant. No, Rifter is going through some sort of personal problem and has thrown a fit. We've all been there, especially as ex JW's. JWR was a good idea, and it was bigger than Rifter's bruised ego. He should be the bigger man and turn it over. My rant wasn't pointed at you, no need for you to take it personally.

  There's a thread here about if your name changed from JWR. A lot of the survivors showed up here. There's a thread started by one of the admins that was an apology of sorts. Apparently Rifter decided to shut it down, and he had the final say on everything, so they did. Scummy Dross is here under a different name. Someone approached him with the idea of opening the site as a read only or an archive so we could copy our material off of it but he was having none of it, so far.

  Anyway, it appears we can come here!

  I remember that you expressed that you would like to be an ex-ex-JW. Fine. So you're done with the site. To hell with everyone else then? You couldn't find anyone else to take it over? Someone poop in your Wheaties? Rifter wasn't interested in turning it over to anyone? Did he even look for someone? Chat ended a few days before it went down. Someone attack him in chat??

  Perhaps he's been reinstated? The society get a cease and desist order issued? Was he sued? Donations went away? He getting a divorce? From you? He's old now and is retiring? He hates anyone who might be considered to be suffering from a mental illness? Did someone JW discover his real identity?

  i heard today about a former jw/now apostate who is dying in hospital.

  this information was accompanied by the comment of "wouldn't be awful to be lying there in hospital,dying as an apostate!

  Umm...Jesus died as an apostate.

  Whatever happened to "having a form of godly devotion but proving false to it's power"!

  According to Matthew 23, Jude, 3rd John, etc., these false prophets identified themselves when they dared to elevate themselves above god with their idiotic judgment calls! What gives them the right to do that? Um...not the bible!

  If there is a paradise, it's not a function of a kangaroo judicial committee to decide who ends up there! Its also not up to them to decide if you're scripturally free, take action in reaction to a rumor, determine who is of the anointed, etc.

  I noticed chat went down first, then an admin that I've never heard of came on and said he did it, and there will be more news to follow.

  I'll take it over! I have no problem identifying myself to the governing body.

  Perhaps there was a court order shutting down the site?

  So how's the bf diabetes thing? Hope all is well with you!

  DS posted that he'll try to get the website back up for a few days so we can copy posts. That would be good.

  About me:

  7 kids, 4 boys, 3 girls. 2 sons and a daughter have a good relationship with me. The others pretend I'm dead.

  Out since 2001(?) Was kept in a DF state from 1982-1997 based on a rumor manufactured by my ex wife and my brother. Exonerated. In 2001, the lies were resurrected, and I was told to pay the elders $5,000 or I would be "DF'd for taking a brother to court". I refused to pay, and was "marked", and refused entry to my second son's, and my second daughter's weddings. There was no suit, it was a lie. After spending a couple of years letter writing to no avail, and after obtaining a degree in law, I sued. They assigned an elder to contact me and inform me that they were now going to "leave me alone".

  I'm a engineering consultant in the US oilfields. I try not to practice law.

  I have a "jehovahmom", but I checked her and so far we have a normal relationship.

  I have a sister who is a closet apostate.

  My brother is still having sex with my first wife whenever they get the chance. The jehovahkids know all about it and have decided to hide it from other elders. He was just sent home from Bethel.

  Opinionated, and like a spirited discussion.

  Still shocked by the treatment I received in the name of God, but the pain is less now.

  I too am totally surprised that they closed down JWR without any warning whatsoever! Perhaps someone would be open to taking it over? The admins seemed overwhelmed and tired of it. Maybe that's the problem.
