  At long last - Six Screens of the Watchtower website now Open!

  hi everybody.. i've been a long time lurker here (as are sooo many others.

  further to following mouthy's thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/129936/1.ashx , i noticed that the 'six screens' website is finally shown as being able to be 'checked out'.. i believe minimus first posted about this some months back.

  it was about 15 years ago.......... i was at a one day special event in woodburn or.

  i was talking to lyman swingle about how the society could save some money.

  it was a crazy idea ( to crazy to relate here)...............anyway he laughed and said to me.. "brother..........we have always had the money to do the things we needed to do.......and if we didn't.......we felt it was god's holy spirit telling us, it wasn't what we should be doing".......so...i said "so the money is like a barometer, no approval, no money"......he said "yea..... i guess you could say that!

  I listened to the conversation through the ears of my JW sister and, while I may be in the minority here, I think Mr. Brown handled himself well. There was no smoking gun here.
  
  "We aren't perfect. We try to do our best in reading God's Word and living up to it. Badness existed in a person that we knew nothing about, but when it was discovered we took action and cleared away the contamination as the Scriptures recommend, unlike other religions."
  
  It's unfortunate that you didn't get the very first conversation on tape. The one where he made bombshell comments such as: "JWs are not the ONLY spokesperson organization of God on earth," which would could be used by fading Dubs.

  p.p.s. I wonder if Mr. Brown will be taking any more calls from intrepid freelance reporter LDH. :D

  I spoke with fundamentalist (not a JW) workmate Frank about this very passage a couple of weeks ago. I asked Frank whether god lied or not.
  
  "When god told Adam he'd die, he meant spiritual death," was Frank's explanation.
  
  "Did Adam have the slightest clue about spiritual death? Having lived in the Garden for an untold period of time and seeing animals meet their end, what sort of death *was* Adam aware of? And what did Adam understand a "day" to mean?"

  i never thought i would do one of those infamous goodbye i cant take this board anymore posts where the person shows up again a week later and looks like an idiot.

  when i had enough of this board and needed a little break i would just quietly leave for a few months and hopefully nobody noticed.

  that is not the case this time.

  Personally I have decided to keep quiet for now, but not sure what the future will bring. She is not an emotionally stable person, so I'm afraid that if she learns about what's really going on, she will have some kind of breakdown.

  That's what I'm getting at.
  
  It took me a while to get here, but I'm very comfortable where I am vis-à-vis god, bible, truth, Truth?. One thing I discovered for myself once I got here is that you don't have to convince anybody of anything. At least I don?t. Hey!... if you're happy, I'm happy. If you like it (whatever "it" is) I LOVE it. Knock ya-self out, girlfriend!! Go on with ya bad self!!
  
  As I said, I'm only slightly tusslin' with my darker side... toying with the idea of dropping a bomb on my know-it-all, pathetically shallow/pretty smart JW sister. Can't see me ever doing such a thing. Too tender-hearted, I am.

  Well, in all honesty, I wouldn't do it to "get even." After all, this is the chick who, at her Mama's behest and with Jehovah's blessing, destroyed my personal copy of Crisis Of Conscience. If I wanted to get even, I'd-a got even a long time ago. No... I s'pose with this post I'm doing nothing more than entertaining the darker side of human nature -- a side I'm unlikely ever to visit.
  
  
  Mainly, I wondered at what lengths it was/is appropriate to go to to help a JW relative. Is it ever to 'go there' and hit 'em where it hurts and blow up their tightly-wound world--everything's fair in love and war--or is it possible to cross the line and go too far.

And, she's not afraid to own up to the mindlessness of all the silly rules; and, like every other member of our family, she's not afraid to upbraid unsuspecting elders?"they're just men!"?with a piece of her mind if/when the mood strikes.
