When I was 10, the Memorial was coming up and we had to pass out little pamphlets inviting people to it. I was nervous, but at my mother's prodding, walked up to the next house. A man was under his car working and I nervously approached him. I was supposed to say:
~Hello there, we would like to invite you to a public meeting to commemorate our Savior's death. It will be on Tuesday at 9pm. (then read a scripture)~
Stammering, I walk up to him and say,
'Hello there, I came here to invite you to a private meeting we're having to comedian the Saver's dying. Come meet me at Tuesday 9pm.'
The guy dropped his wrench and sat up, looking at me. My mother cracked up laughing and then stepped in for me. I wanted to die!!!!!
What mistakes have you made?
this has probably been addressed before, but.... the other day a philipino man knocked on our door.
my husband answered it, and a nice elderly man said something in philipino to us, holding a watchtower and awake.
my husband said we only spoke english, and the old man smiled, said something and left.
Beck,
You crack me up girl!
Beans,
Ohh.... you dont know what you did by giving me that address! I am sending out the surveys with the names of all my sworn enemies.
Dont think my bro-in-law will be too happy!
Hi Catherine,
I didnt mean to be offensive, wasnt slamming the JW's in service or anything... just find it odd, because when I was actively going to meetings, I heard all the time, 'the territories are being covered many times a month'. I just find it very weird that living here for years, I have yet to have a Witness come to my door, let alone an English speaking one!
Wren,
Email me! Are you far from here? I thought it was funny the person at your door was Spanish. Actually, there is a Spanish cong and a Philipino cong here now. You're right....there are many non-English speaking people coming in.
years ago, when my mom was alive, she was very active.
in the door to door work.
she always had bible studies.. but she started noticing a change in the kind of people.
Hey terafera...i didn't realise my rocking back and forth distracted you dear LOL.
Beck, girl you crack me up!LOL
That's exactly what we were taught to believe...the humbleYou hit the nail on the head..exactly!
mildly retarted soul who rocks back n forth and rubs her hand together has a better chance then the haughty ones who adorn themselves with riches. Bullocks! There is no category for those who choose to think for themselves!

It seems that if the WTBTS really took their preaching work seriously
they would have already put into place a more effective system. The truth is that the
system they have now is ineffective at reaching people but works great at keeping the
rank and file too busy spinning their wheels (literally)to think for themselves.
Wow..I've never thought of it like that! It does make sense that there would be a better way to find people home. I dont think they've changed their tactics in the 28 years I've been alive!
responsible childbearing in this time of the end .
i heard the talk that formed the basis of this article in the summer of 1987 while attending with my pregnant wife.
the stress was on not having children and devoting lives to preaching the watchtower's message.
Good post!
I remember my brother being born in 1976, my mom was told it wasnt the brightest idea. He's 25 now I cant imagine him not being here! I wonder how many people really wanted children, but held off, thinking the end was near.
It makes me think of the sad story of Ray Franz, he and his wife never had kids, then when they tried to, they were too old to have any.
I can remember heaing talks describing young mothers with little babies going to concentration camps in the Tribulation, even hiding in the mountains with crying babies...it made me want to never have kids! Good thing I came to my senses
okay, all you crazied men in love w/ britney spears, be careful surfing the web for pics of her, or you might get caught in a trojan virus trap.
i'm serious--she's contagious--stay away.
Ummmm...
I need antibiotics just looking at Britney Spears!

We live in a large city (Anchorage) and while our area has alot of Philipino people, there are far more white people than any other race, I"m sure.
These are the only jw's I've had come to my door in 3 years. I am wondering, if they are hitting every neighborhood and every door...then how come I never see them? I mean, with all these English speaking people, and I get a Philipino speaking man at my door, then how is the word being spread? The way most Witnesses talk, you'd think you'd see them everywhere...but I dont!
Is it just me??
my....how the walls come crumbling down.. my father and mother ordered coc and in search of christian freedom tonite.....when talking about freeminds.org they call randy waters, 'randy'.
i can't believe it.. i haven't even read coc, and isocf!!.
but my parents ordered the books tonite....i think my whole fam is going to be alright.. ashi
California,
I know what you mean, I have 3 people who want to read my CofC book too!
I guess something kept so 'hidden' is a little mysterious.. I know for myself, I wondered, 'what could it possibly say?'
I never guessed it would mention so many things that were downright malicious and wrong.
It's definately an eye opener and an interesting read.
(Hiya DB!!)

Well I lived in Hawaii for about 10 years and I dont think I'd move back!
It's hard to really support yourself there, if you are wealthy for life, it would be great. I love the tropical setting but sometimes I just wanna go drive for miles and not end up in circles! LOL
But Hawaii is beautiful... just not sure I'd live there permanently. I also enjoy the change of seasons which you dont really get there.
I've always wanted to visit Colorado, or the East Coast. New York sounds nice (upper state), Pennsylvania or Montana. I'd love to travel around someday, maybe I'll find the perfect spot!
