If we are further away from perfection, why are we more moral?
by stuckinarut2 inas we know, witnesses teach that adam and eve were perfect and then committed the first act of sin and rebellion.. they in turn were cursed, and we all declined as their offspring.
humans supposedly lived shorter and shorter lives, and became more imperfect and sinful.. the further away in time humans go then, they should be getting worse.
so why is it then that as a society, humans have actually improved in so many ways?.

So why have we improved as a society even though we are now so "far from perfection"?
My two cents: we develop as a society because that's what human beings are about. I used the word "develop". I'm not sure from what angle one can look at humanity in general and see "improvement". We have advances, conveniences, technology, better means and know-how on things that we never did before, but as society we are (IMO) not that great in terms of "improvement".
That said, we're definitely better that Adam and Eve for the simple fact that we actually exist and they never did.

I refuse to because 1) his unchristian attitude towards me in regards to my beliefs and 2) I cannot with a good conscience support (by being in attendance) the deceit and lies being taught. Thank you guys for listening and thank you ahead for any comments.
...not to mention that there's absolutely nothing wrong with being unchristian. Now please bear with me. At the time when I was just out, that is within the week when I decided that I was completely untied with the WT, there was one of those "special talks" or announcements, etc. My family invited me, and they told me that they were reaching out to all people who were no longer attending. I told my family that my disinterest in the WT is 100% and that to me it makes no difference if I go or not, even if it is to that one instance.
They didn't like my answer and that was the beginning of the end of my relationship with my JW family.
That was in the late 80's. Those things are stupid tricks from the WT, lame attempts at making people believe that there's some universe changing announcement that will impact life as we know it. For as long as that stupid tired trick works with some people and keep making life difficult for people who want to leave and know better, they will continue doing that nonsense.
Sorry you have to go through that.

Growing up JW kid: do you recognize
by Gorbatchov inborn in 1970, 4th generation jw and parents who were loyal to but could also think on their own.. my father always said, the show goes on, so he had a respectable community job, advisor of the city counsel of the town.
and buying ald building houses for us.
we were on the move.. what i remember is the many conversations at home about the other witnesses.

My original question was: do you recognize this?
Not at all. I think that you were fortunate to have a father with some degree of power and recognition in the community. That may have influenced the way he was perceived in the congregation.
What I do recognize is the never buy-into the WT nonsense. Growing up I never cared for any of it.

spontaneous kindnesses
by zeb inthe helper’s high.
when people help others, it makes them feel good.
we get what researchers call a “helpers high,” or a profound sense of well-being and optimism associated with helping.. and the impact goes further than just the emotional.

Missing the Memorial first time in 34 years
by oppostate inmy wife has left to pick someone else's bible study half an hours drive north of us to bring them to the kh 20 minutes south of us, and pick up two other people on the way.. this is the first memorial in 34 years that i won't be at the kh to "celebrate".. if i want to "remember" jesus christ sacrifice and his command to keep doing so, i'm doing so on my own terms.
not controlled by a despotic, oligarchical gobo which directs most attending folks to be there but to "skip" the very thing jesus command explicitly mentions to do.
i'm also convinced that it doesn't have to be exactly on the same lunar month evening as the jewish passover, but that "whenever" it is commemorated by someone, with faith in christ, and belief in his promises it would be best to do it not for show or for the sake of appearances but sincerely out of one's feeling of "communion".. if you are a christian believer are you going to the memorial this year?

Should I congratulate you guys, or say happy non-memorial year? What's the right way of showing solidarity? Either way, it is a big deal for those who are fading and separating from the WT.
I'm glad that you posted here.

Interesting. Goes to show how believers attach morality to things that have nothing to do with morality.

Don't know if it's normal for you who are fading now or faded in the past. I'm feeling so lonely. A colleague at work noticed it but I couldn't explain it all. How to explain it to someone that knows nothing about the JW world?
Did you experienced the same during fading? How are you managing it?
Absolutely, and not only that, since I was born-in, and that's all I knew, it has been a long term process, not some thin that you just do once.
I felt bad, and then felt bad for feeling good, then felt good, and every now and then those feelings crawl out of nowhere. It's negative influence I constantly have to keep in check. It doesn't discourage me from moving on.
