...But if we look for the implied meaning, then it is a positive, informal signal indicating a job well done, and saying ‘keep it up.’...
Too much work. I rather use Google.
thumbs-up gesture doesn’t covey much if we see only four fingers closed and thumb standing upward.
but if we look for the implied meaning, then it is a positive, informal signal indicating a job well done, and saying ‘keep it up.’.
similarly, biblical accounts don’t convey much if we see them as mere accounts.

last year i didn't bother with christmas as it still felt like a "nothing" day to me (thanks watchtower!).
this is the 2nd christmas since waking up and leaving the cult and i've finally bought my first christmas tree:).
i have no idea what to do with it though.
I have no idea what to do with it though. How to decorate it. When to put it up. Where to put it?
Use the best learning management system in the planet, YouTube.
Enjoy the holidays.

problem solved.
................for all their sinners - but make it mandatory that all J.W. alleged criminals are promptly reported to the relevant authorities. Problem solved. It's not rocket science.
You are trying to place some sense in an organization that claims that is not part of the world. Looks great on paper, but never gonna happen. That's not what they are after. They have no interest in doing anything other than what they are set to do.
go to jw.org and watch some of the caleb and sophia videos in solomon islands pidgin language.
hilarious!.
Not funny to me.
Beautiful. Lovely vivid colors.
when i was a jw i was fascinated with the mormon religion.
i never believed a word of it of course, but i was interested in their religion like most boys were interested in star wars.
i’ve read the book of mormon, doctrine & covenants, pearl of great price, book of abraham, watched their videos, read critical books by ex mormons etc etc… (strange at the time that i never did this with my own religion!
Blacks in the church maybe? God living on a star called Kolob?
How about trying to get what's in it for them? Discussing their teachings and history I'm sure are things that they are very, very well prepared to debate, refute and ready to hear. Those things have been points of discussion in that religion for decades now.
Try asking them what is that makes them happy to be Mormons. Their testimonial may give you a clue as to the real reasons why they join. If they were raised in that religion, simply show them the size of the real world compared to what they have experienced, as a point to show them that they cannot say that the one and only thing they know is the one and only truth.
i was walking out of the store and i passed a former jw associate of 20+ years.
"keith"he was an elder, got df'd, lost his wife, got reinstated and last i heard started pioneering!so i see him as i'm walking to my parking spot.. i stop, look him straight in the face and yell from 20 feet away, "you're in a cult.
you're in a cult, dude!".
Though I agree with AFRIKANMAN that your approach may not be the best in terms of them listening, who fucking cares? It's not your job to save people. That's part of the purpose of not being a JW. It's not your job to show others the light, and if there were your friends and now they aren't, it's because of them, not you.
I'm sure that you felt great after. To me, that's what matters.
In my experience, people who return after getting disfellowshipped have been people who seem to have a hard time coping with their lives, or live with a constant sense of fear about the world, or inadequacy about themselves. That excludes those who return to maintain relationships with JW loved ones.
I'd say if it makes you feel god, yell your heart out.
all will be very familiar with:.
"all scripture is inspired by god and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness" (2 timothy 3:16, nrsv).
"we wait for the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of our great god and savior, jesus christ.
Thanks. Great information.
every theory (including darwin’s) primarily proves someone has to design a theory; every product primarily proves someone has to design it.
when neil armstrong and buzz aldrin landed on the moon it primarily proved intelligence of many people had to design that moon-mission.. 1) if every machine primarily proves someone designed it, then a much more complex, wonderful, and living machine with reproductive feature would mean the same: someone with corresponding ability, of higher energy, designed it because effect explains the cause just like harvest explains the sowing (whether you saw sowing or not).
science shows human body is like a complex machinery with many departments/systems (such as respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular/circulatory, renal/urinary, endocrine, nervous, musculoskeletal, integumentary/exocrine, lymphatic/immune, reproductive etc.
Every theory (including Darwin’s) primarily proves someone has to design a theory
No, it doesn't.
When Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon it primarily proved intelligence of many people had to design that moon-mission.
According to who and how? Show me the evidence of that.
If every machine primarily proves someone designed it, then a much more complex, wonderful, and living machine with reproductive feature would mean the same...
Absolutely correct, except for the fact that the universe is not a machine.
Science shows human body is like a complex machinery...

And this is everybody’s experience: when something spiritual enters, body [in the womb] starts functioning, and when it exits body stops functioning, which means something not physical, a spirit factor, is more important than body parts!
Nonsense. First, that's not my experience, and second, how's that supposed to prove anything?
That means there is an invisible spirit entity that hold all the parts, organs and body systems
Nope, it does not mean that. You quote a dictionary and then try to tell what the dictionary means. More nonsense. The rest of your number 2 item, as evidence of any kind of creation is exactly that, a number 2.
One’s normal state is joy.
Well, the director of my department at work didn't get that email. You can tell that bitch hasn't gotten some in quite some time. Joy is certainly not her normal state.
A person in this state of joy is in harmony within and without by just being aware of the present moment, which attracts good relationship towards him. His life is simple—he learns from the past, plans for the future but lives in/enjoys the present.
Until there's a mass shooting, republicans take over government, your neighbor sues you, some racist asshole treats you like shit, and some JW comes to your house while you are filing your taxes that you have to pay with yet another credit card. Sure, life is very, very simple (I'm being sarcastic, just in case). Also, I can tell that you don't take the NYC subway.
Wake up sweetie, life sucks, and the way we live today proves the theory of survival of the species more so than ever in the history of mankind.
i noticed a young brother with a beard being given more privelages within our hall.
when he first grew his beard, he lost his privelages.
but more and more recently he has been helping out a lot more.. the cobe is old school and a stickler for rules, but with the hall becoming more empty these days, and the need for young brothers, he seems to have relaxed on this particular watchtower/man made rule.
Are Beards becoming more acceptable due to decline in membership?
Yes.
