  Watchtower Rebranding

  the wtbts has finally decided to join the rest of us in the 21st century and has begun rebranding.

  they've dropped the iconic watchtower sign from their heaquarters, and it's only a matter of time till they drop the now embarrassing watchtower name completely; a name synonymous with failure on the one hand and concentration camps on the other.. the organisation will soon be known solely as jw.org, bringing them right up-to-date with the web 2.0 revolution of 15 years ago, and making them the only company still to use a full web address as their main identifier, very forward-thinking of them.. it's inevitable that they'll gradually rebrand everything.

  what methods do you think they'll go with?

  Thanks for sharing that information, Fred Franztone. Personally I don't have any interest or reaction to whatever they decide to do (other than maybe shutting down completely). I do know that it does help and interest others.

  You forgot a very important piece: what is a troll? What you think is trolling behavior might be very useful to other people. Some people label things they don't like hearing about "trolling", when the reality is that they just don't like (or are not ready to) listening to what the so-called "troll" is communicating.

  anyone on here an ex accounts servant?

  i’d be interested in a projection of what percentage of contributions come from elderly jw’s.

  i.e, money that will be diminishing over next 5 or 10 years as these ones pass on.. i estimate that in one of my previous congs 50% of the contribution totals of approximately £400 each month were being made by the over 70’s demographic.. within the other 50% were pioneers and low paid workers who put in regular but small amounts.. i guess when the accountants ring the alarm bells you start cutting the biggest costs; full time servants, buildings, printed literature.

  i was just sitting daydreaming about answering up during a watchtower and exposing one of the lies the wts has stated in the study material and wondering what the reaction would be 😊 has anyone ever done this on their way out?

  If you are a JW, I'm quite sure you know well what their reaction will be. I didn't do any of the sort on my way out, but I did quite a few nasty disrespectful things.

  I witnessed a couple of times people doing similar things.

  I think that regardless of what the action is, their reaction is going to always be the same. They are brainwashed to believe any combination of the following (and/or act accordingly):

  1. You became an "apostate" (their lingo) and whatever you say will be dismissed as "apostate talk"
  2. They will use it as a way of "testing" their integrity to their believes
  3. Leadership will use it to their advantage, setting you as a bad example; from that point on, forget about any good reputation you ever had with them
  4. If it's not done in a disrespectful, disorderly manner, the elders may contact you for some kind of JC and the result (at least in their minds) will not be in your favor

  The end result, I can guarantee you, is not going to be you leaving a mark or becoming memorable. If at all, you will be ridiculed or cited as a bad example, or as an example of how their "Jehovah" maintains his people united in spite of your "attack".

  a 'concerned' jw in my congregation rang me earlier and said she's noticed my daughter sits miserable at the meetings and said she's a right miserable girl in general.

  i said she's happy and hyper when she's not at the meetings they're just really boring and she doesn't want to be there.

  apparently i'm a bad parent coz she feels that way.

  What do you do when your Operating System is corrupted?

  i was just thinking of an illustration that may apply.. what do we do if our computer operating system is corrupted?

  perhaps through a virus, or because of outdated or corrupted technology?.

  do we hang on to that computer because of sentimental reasons?

  • We are NOT mindless automatons. I smoke an occasional cigar. I've been known to curse a bit. Hell, I even vote. Others in my congregation know all this (except the voting) and I've never been given a hard time about it.
  • Many of us ARE highly educated. I have a Masters Degree.
  • We are not all scraping to get by. I have a comfortable six-figure income.

  I dont agree with everything the Governing Body does. But I believe they are good, sincere men doing their best,.acting on their understanding of the Bible. They certainly aren't getting rich!

  I think many in the Ex-JW community act very much like the cultists they claim us to be. Rather than just go away and go their separate ways, they harrass us, make videos maligning us, endlessly whine about us and even go so far as to disrupt our meetings. If I decided to leave the JW's, I'd do just that. I wouldn't obsess over them.

  I look forward to open discussions with JW's and others.

  You are so full of shit.
