What do you think?
Nonsense. That's not how hypnosis works.
i was watching a fascinating ted-ex video on hypnosis and hypnotism with a friend.
my friend wondered if the jws new music might have a hypnotic suggestion buried somewhere in it which gets everyone in attendance to listen and absorb stuff that is totally irrational for the entire program.
ending with a second subliminal message in the final song along the lines of "you will snap out of this state when you next hear the word amen.
What do you think?
Nonsense. That's not how hypnosis works.
himy story is as follows.
i've been friends with a guy for round 1,5 years.
he told me once he had another guy friend who was gay.
Any thing you can share as being JW?
By your actions and attitude, you sound much worse. I wouldn't have you as a friend, JW or not.
i believe that i have a good cause to sue the organization.
but i know that they have crafted themselves a legal loophole infinite loop.
so i was thinking that i should just sue the congregation that i know fucked me over.
Not only what LostGeneration asked, but also, I'd suggest to get legal counsel to see if what you have in mind is actionable. Nothing worse than suing and losing over not having a legal base for a lawsuit.
i found the following article to be a nice contrast to the jw's gloomy point of view.. why 2017 was the best year in human history.
we all know that the world is going to hell.
given the rising risk of nuclear war with north korea, the paralysis in congress, warfare in yemen and syria, atrocities in myanmar and a president who may be going cuckoo, you might think 2017 was the worst year ever.. but you’d be wrong.
Thank you. My favorite line:
We need some perspective as we watch the circus in Washington, hands over our mouths in horror.
You can say that again.
will they be making a lot of their gb helpers full fledge gb?
i think as they continue to loose money and members and contributions dry up, that many might be thinking how to get out of this financial mess with some sort of golden parachute, and hand over the reigns to their helpers.. i'm sure with all this bad that is happening to the corporation they would welcome an early retirement with a nice comfy nest egg away from all this bad publicity away from the public eye.
why do they want to keep fighting a losing battle give over their power for a nice comfy retirement.
Will The Governing Body Be Resigning From Controlling The Corporation When Things Get Worse And Worse?
Who knows, who cares. Dwelling on what may or may not happen is a complete waste of time.
i do not believe in the bible but i will use the reasoning from the new testament to argue against watchtower.
the reason i will only use the new testament is that jesus replaced the mosaic law with himself.
even watchtower agree with this principle.
I'm with her on that.
what are everyone's thoughts on this, how his legs weren't broken, he was pierced with a spear and he wore a thorny crown?.
i'm pimo and very much not wanting to believe, but like the daniel statue prophecies, these ones about jesus stick in my mind and give me "hmmm, maybe" moments..
What are everyone's thoughts on this, how his legs weren't broken, he was pierced with a spear and he wore a thorny crown?
Let me see... his legs didn't get broken, so that's supposed to mean that the prophecy was fulfilled, which is supposed to mean that the bible is this magic book that can predict the future, which is supposed to mean that everything else that it says is true and accurate, which is supposed to mean that I have to listen to whoever idiot claims that has the perfect interpretation of it, and it's supposed to entitle them to judge and hate others.
What a load of shit!
well i have heard various comments about them on here, so last week i decided to do an internet search on them.
i was quite surprised to find there was an inc in my local area and ironically only meters away from the kh.. it was very interesting to say the least, and in the short time i was there i could quite understand how they get there reputation as a high control religion if not a cult.
in some respects i think they are probably more jw than the jws.. let me explain how my visit went.
Thanks for the information. Seems like it can be fun... as long as one can leave and post about it here.
dr margaret t singer, a professor of psychology at berkeley university california has studied the experiences of 700 cult members.
''consciously and manipulatively, leaders and their trainers exert a systematic social influence that can produce great behavioral changes,'' said dr. singer.. .
one of the ways the jw organisation exerts so much influence over its members is because it has created a culture sustained by constant propaganda, which polices itself according to how the leadership has moulded it.
I think some who have not been long "awake" hope that failure comes soon to release their loved ones still within the clutches of the evil Org.
Thank you, and apologies if I came across as accusatory. I understand, and I also understand the feelings behind it. I'm not sure that the WT failing will actually create the effect in active JWs that you might expect.
Have you heard of people going "cult shopping"? It happens.
I hope that you come to the point when any of what happens to them matters to you, even if you have loved ones in that organization. I believe that true detachment is healthier.
what single big change do you think could back fire and bring the cult down ?.
me: tithing..
what big change could bring down the watchtower?
What would bringing them down do? Do you expect that people are not going to fall for something else? The WT ceasing to exist will not eliminate the real problem. I can't care less one way or another.
