Did you ever like any of those songs?
Yes, since I grew up hearing them and didn't know better. Now I find them cheesy.
i went on line looking for old jw songs and some of them were pretty good and some were just awful!.

i am interested in the approach this forum takes to money.
apart from sex, (which i am quite relaxed about) it seems to me that wealth is the surest divider between those who are moral, and those who are not.. it seems jesus thought so, also.
luke 16:19-31 kjv describes well enough his dusty attitude to the rich who do not succour the poor.. and this world has many poor: so many, it might seem that we can do nothing about it, and twist his words; 'the poor ye shall have always with you, but me, ye shall not have always.
Interesting post. Seems a little simplistic to me, though. What I have experienced myself and by seeing and living with others, is that it's not just about the numbers. It's not even about the numbers.
I learned to make a difference between poverty and poverty mentality. Without addressing the later you cannot address the former.
On the other side, there also is a mentality, a mindset. The financially privilege have their own way of living and thinking, so it's not as simple as attempting to distribute wealth among the social classes.
Furthermore, some people in the poverty level income live well within their means, and so many others in between the poor-rich spectrum. Not having all the means doesn't mean impossible to live and/or strive.
so i went and had a facial yesterday, and the aesthetician (and business owner) was a 30 something women, and we got on very well from the start.
the conversation came around to how many new churches are being built in this area, and i said i was surprised by it all.
she had a very interesting take on the situation.
Interesting topic. Here is Pew research on Generational cohort among Christians by age group:
Here's the Gender composition among Christians by age group:
There plenty of reliable sources of information if you don't trust this one.
maga hat...make america great again .
guy wears it in nyc bar and gets thrown out.
manhattan court throws out the case citing that since its not religious discrimination, it’s the bar’s right.. what so you think about this?
MAGA HAT...make America great again . Guy wears it in nyc bar and gets thrown out. Manhattan court throws out the case citing that since its not religious discrimination, it’s the bar’s right.
What so you think about this??
Absolutely wrong. In my town, we're constantly fighting against bars and places that have "dress codes" that happen to be against what minorities wear. We want people to enjoy their nice time at the bar wearing anything that they want, for as long as it doesn't violate the law. I cannot just turn around and promote the exact same thing simply because it's something that promotes an already elected president.
Anyway, they love promoting that type of articles, but as I said, minorities are constantly shown the door for "violating dress code policy" in bars and public places. I'm almost positive that you might have never heard of such practice. Seems like the same way bars that do that to minorities get away with it, was the same argument that this particular bar used. But of course, it's news because it happened in the other direction.
It is wrong to do that to ANYONE, not just the people you like.
todays's 'south china morning post,' has the headline:.
north korea’s nuclear test site has collapsed ... and that may be why kim jong-un suspended tests.
the mountain’s collapse after a fifth blast last fall has led to the creation of a massive ‘chimney’ that could leak radioactive fallout into the air, researchers have found.. full report at: http://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy-defence/article/2143171/north-koreas-nuclear-test-site-has-collapsed-and-may-be-why-kim-jong-un?utm_source=emarsys&utm_medium=email&utm_content=20180426&utm_campaign=scmp_today&aid=190131336&sc_src=email_2221295&sc_llid=54531&sc_lid=151076047&sc_uid=z7rq3jwhwq&utm_source=emarsys&utm_medium=email.
I guess its a reasonable question that the SCMP then asks, whether that's the reason for Kim Jong-un's sudden reversal of policy?
The SCMP also points out that the 'chimney' formed by the mountain's collapse may be releasing radioactive substances into the air.
Not a very desirable thing to happen.
Thanks for sharing this. My thoughts have always been that they are not going to shut down testing unless there's something that has been rendered useless. In this case seems like it;'s the geography.
problem with this week's video on counsel.
why did they emphasize the counsel and not the fact that those who were watching movie should have followed christ counsel at mathew 5 go to your brother instead they ratted on the guy to an elder and let him do dirty work.wow just totally ignore jesus words..
poopie, you are absolutely on point. They do completely ignore the words in the bible (apparently from Jesus).
i've recently watched the jw cartoons centered around teaching young kids the doctrines of this faith.
while i no longer practice any faith, i am well versed in this one.
i must say, these cartoons are in bad, bad taste.
If you don't like my OPINION on something I saw, go read a different thread. And to the random person who mentioned I didn't state my sexual orientation?
Thank you for the clarification. I now have a clearer idea of where you come from. Now some things make more sense. I don't like your opinion, and you might not think of yourself as coming across as preachy, but you are.
I will continue posting wherever I feel like, whether or not I like your opinion. That's entirely up to me.
Again, the horrible black-and-white mentality that is pervasive in Christianity seems to continue cluttering the way some people communicate. I can't care less about your believes or non-believes. None of that pays my rent.
Also, scratchme1010, you perfectly demonstrated what keyboard warriors do. They jump the gun without so much as a forethought or checking PROFILES. I'm agnostic. I'm not a bible loving idiot. In fact, I love science. And if those scientology idiots hadn't stolen that word, I'd call my belief in science as my religion Scientology. 😂 Stephen Hawking my God. Neil Degrasse Tyson my Jesus. But back to the point. You're rude. And apparently an idiot for not LOOKING at a person's profile before making assumptions.
Actually, you're the one making the assumption that I didn't look at your profile. I did. Telling it like it is, and saying things you don't like hearing doesn't make me rude. Those are classic signs of the all too typical sense of entitlement.
And no, every single word, every single thought and every single idea that I post:
As I said before, I can't care less about what you like or dislike. None of that matters, other than what you posted that I reject and refute because is pure shit, just like all the unnecessary crap you are adding that has nothing to do with the discussion (probably because you can't do any better).
BTW, I listed a bunch of questions and they were never addressed at all.
And yes, you attack other people's sexual orientation (yes, that's an attack, your stupid Christian nonsense doesn't make it anything different), so I feel entitled to inquire about yours, since it goes directly to what you yourself posted.
Calling me an idiot and name dropping doesn't make your post any relevant.
You're welcome.
hey forum goers.
i'd like your opinions on constructing an email reply to this shocker below.
bit of background about the sender: she is a middle-aged, cheery uberdub whose siblings left when a schism occured in her congregation in canada way back when.
Now, I'm just wondering... do I even bother with this, you guys?
Interesting post. I like the fact that in spite of everything, as passionate as she comes across, she can still sustain a conversation with you. That shows at least some sense on her part.
If it was me, I'd consider the conversation that you had about blood transfusions, completely ignoring (or most of it) the content of the email in the other matter. The reason I'd do that is that I'd agree with her about the fact that there are dangers in blood transfusions, and that there are truths about what many medical professionals say in terms of being cautions, and everything else that is relevant.
I think that some JWs need to see that outsiders are not the monsters that they are made to be, and that we can be reasonable, and we don't need to be anti-them.
Then in later conversations I'd address anything else if at all. Personally I have no interest in convincing, saving or converting anyone of/to anything, but that's how I'd address it if I did.
... you are told to trust the slave as you do jehovah and jesus..
.. you are told to trust the slave as you do Jehovah and Jesus.
Actually, You Might Be in a Cult if you are told anything but what your own being tells you.
i know we often talk of the mind control and how jw's believe what they are taught because they are controlled as to the information they receive, but i think the mind control goes frighteningly beyond simply keeping information away from them.. the jw mind is in lockdown.
it simply cannot accept facts, evidence, reasoning or whatever that goes against what they believe.
they cannot assimilate and consider an argument, it is not that they are being awkward, or willfully blind, their minds are so shut down they are incapable of taking in what is being presented.. i am aware of how, in common with other cults and high control groups the j.w org achieves this state among its members, but how on earth do we open such a solidly closed mind ?.

I'm no expert in the matter, but another angle to look at it is not just what you have (rightfully) mentioned on mind control, but also from the angle of abuse. A lot of what they do is what they call "spiritual abuse".
The effect of not being able to get through to a person in that state is very similar to "battered woman syndrome", which protects, rationalizes and defends the abuser, in this case being the spiritual abuser.
