Do Witnesses Experience Racial Discrimination To Your Knowledge?
by minimus inmy experience in the kingdom hall was that racial discrimination and profiling was not typically practiced....that i know of.
i was in a diverse city with every type of skin color and nationality imaginable.. i’m wondering if the witnesses have changed due to the current affairs exposed by the media everyday.
are there discrimination issues in jw land??

Where I grew up as a child, I didn't feel any racial discrimination, that is, different than the one I grew up with outside my family and the JWs.
In the congregation I went to as a young adult, there was racial and ethnic discrimination. However, there was a lot more discrimination based on social status. The haves and have-nots were completely segregated in the congregation.
It went to a point where some elder (who claimed to be the first agronomist in Puerto Rico) and lived in an upper middle class area, made a case for some territory that was supposed to be covered by his group (a poor area) not belonging to his group because it was "too dangerous" for them to go preaching.
It was disgusting to see all that hypocritical crap where people would judge others on social status.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, new member of the Governing Body
by ShirleyW inthe woman has been deflecting the orange one's lies for quite sometime now as we all know, but after hearing her doing the same about the staff member who dissed mccain, i say she's an excellent candidate for the governing body, "nothing ever happened, we didn't say that, yes the number of 144,000 is growing every year and we accept that".
i mean, why look elsewhere, she would fit in perfectly.. btw, that's also what i say with all the drumpf supporters that show up at his rallies he holds whenever his sensitive, deflated ego needs a boost.
they cheer and rave just like the blind followers do at the circuit assemblies, they would make excellent jws, they have no problem buying into bullshit without putting any thought into anything that's being said..

They do, I agree. That's why experts in the matter of cults don't like using that label, as it misleads people to think that such effect can happen only in some organizations or groups.

Overlapping Generations
by JRK ini remember when that came out, my mother didn't catch it in the original article in the wt.
it was in one of the review "do you remember" thingies that she caught it.
she asked me if it means what she thought it meant.

What I don't understand is why there wasn't a mass exodus from the religion when they came up with that bullshit. I would have thought half would have left. I guess mind-control is a powerful thing!
Because they are conditioned to believe any kind of bullshit they are told. You have to know that the overlapping generation nonsense is not the first or only nonsensical thing that they throw at them.
That one may look to you like it's so obvious that how come so many people miss it, but I'm sure that's the case with a lot of their other nonsense. It speaks volumes to some JWs and they start wondering, or no effect at all.

New brochure about donations.
by Ray Frankz inin this midweek meeting the local needs was a booooring speech about the new brochure on donations.
the wt must think the jws are dying to know how to give their money.. well, it's not new this is disgusting but this time, after i ve been slightly hinting people here and there for a year about the 'abnormal request of money' and remind them that 'the faithful slave wasn't like that until some time ago', this time i saw their faces.
they did get bothered with that talk.

Who needs apostates when you have a GB like this?
That's what happens when you tell people not to educate themselves, not to make money, and then expect to survive financially from those same people.

Motherly Love, that "Unbreakable Bond"
by Simon inmy father died a couple of months ago.
he'd been ill for some time and had many health scares and heart troubles over the years but always managed to keep on going.
then one time he didn't.. i'm glad i got to know him again and spend some more time with him after so many years missed because of the wts but those years will always be lost forever.

I'm glad I went. I'm really glad I got to attend my brothers wedding. I'm really glad and thankful that we left that shitty little cult because it really does make people sick to behave in such an unnatural way, especially when I know she wouldn't even be able to defend or explain why beyond a lame "the governing body said so" reason. Pathetic.
So, with the WTS you're sometimes only allowed one parent at a time and now I have none as far as I'm concerned because shunning works both ways - I won't be bothering to attend the next funeral.
Thank you so much for sharing this. It really is like you describe it, a tragic comedy. You cry about it, you laugh about it.
A lot of us know well what it means skipping the funeral of a JW loved one. No matter what our paths are, and how different we are as people, this JW nonsense that we have in common really connects us (like it or not).
Thanks again.

Atheists - How Did You Become An Atheist After Waking Up?
by pale.emperor ini consider myself an atheist.
and right now i'm reading a lot on atheism in general (books written to answer creationists).. i'd be interested in knowing how you became an atheist after leaving the jws and how long did it take?
was it instant or did your belief in a deity gradually decline?.

Interesting post. First I just want to make sure that non-atheist people understand that atheism is not to be treated as a religious organization. Once doesn't study it, not all atheists believe the same thing, atheist are not united, nor are they organized, there isn't such thing as an atheist temple, nor do we get any endorsement or certification from any entity.
I say all this since a lot of believers judge atheism for what they know, and sometimes is hard for them to understand that comparing their religious believes with atheism is far from a perfect comparison.
That said, I have called myself an atheist, but that doesn't really quite define my complete stance on the subject of God and related stuff.
I neither believe nor don't believe. I don't read anything to support either side, and the topic of god's existence is not something I have any interest in; it's just not part of my life.
I have my own spirituality and I'm quite happy with the way it is, the rest, honestly, is completely irrelevant to me. If that's atheism, then I am an atheist. Otherwise, I really can't care less one way or another.
